"I was shocked at how bad this place is. My father was placed here with the intention of getting rehab but never saw any. He was in their care for a little over a week and a half and several times we came and had to get someone to get him a bath or change his clothes which should have been done without having to ask. The Cna's are awful.... Not all but most if the ones we encountered. You have to have a heart for the job and many are there just to collect a paycheck. The end came for us when we arrived at 12:30 one afternoon, my father had been in the same shirt for two days... No bath.. We called for a nurse. They found he had gained an infection so bad on his back died that he immediately had to be transported by EMS. If he had been cared for and checked daily I believe it would have been found sooner. My father said they never came when he would ring his bell, or it took them forever. I would never place a loved one at this facility!!!!! Their own staff said they were trying to leave because it was so bad there. The smell is awful and so is the service. The rn's were great... That us about the only nice thing I can say. They should be ashamed of their facility and someone needs to investigate. We are filing a complaint. My father had to have a surgery that he almost didn't make it out of because he received less than appropriate care here. "

"I went to visit because I was looking for a place for my daddy to go to live since I can’t take care of him no more. Come to find out he needs a memry unit because he has alltimers and he does try to go outside at my house by hisself that is why I can’t take care of him. Krissy showed me and my brother around and she was so nice. Thanks to all her help I found a place for daddy. "

" My husband, 80 yo, was admitted to this facility after 2 weeks stay at a local hospital for a concussion. We found the staff to be friendly, attentive and caring at Village Care. The admission process was much easier than at another rehab facility. They were open to visitation by family and family pet. Exams appeared to be thorough. Laundry was efficient. My husband said food was better than he expected. We appreciate all they did for us. If we need help in future we would prefer VC. His admission was for approximately 2 weeks. He did not participate much in activities preferring to watch sports. Many thanks. "

"Homestead Hills has done a good job in taking care of their patients. The rooms appeared to be clean and well-kept. Their assisted living unit has been turned over; it is above any average that you could ever find. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend that facility. "

"My mother was a patient at Kindred's facility at Silas Creek and their nursing and therapy care was AWESOME!!! I would recommend them to anyone looking to recover and go home. "

"Mature, experienced, competent staff, caring managers, with many years experience with this facility. Excellent care and beautiful grounds, gym for physical therapy, portable x-ray, outstanding care. One of the best I've seen, highly recommend. "

"Salemtowne is a new community and the staff is as good as I can find. It's not perfect, but as far as the quality of care goes and the brand-new facilities, it's a very nice place. That's why we have decided to have my brother stay there and he's now in long-term care. He's in a private room and they take care of his feeding tubes and wound care after surgery. It's a huge place that has great rooms, lounges with TVs and small cafes. It's a beautiful community. He didn't care for the food because he loves fine food, and you're not going to get that in a nursing home or skilled nursing facility. The layout of the place is state-of-the-art."

"My mother was a patient at the Oaks. She was admitted for rehabilitation and later transferred to Long Term Care. The rooms were clean and larger than most nursing home rooms. She had bathroom with a large walk in shower. She had a room mate that was not very nice but the facility moved my mother when they realized it was not working out and she ended up with a very nice lady. She and my mother became very close. They enjoyed going to Bingo and crafts together. My mother also loved to read and the Activity Director kept my Mom well stocked with books and magazines that she liked. They took great care of my mother. Any problem we encountered was always addressed. The medical team were so nice and took great care of my mom. The Dr. and nurses were patient with my mom as well as with our family and kept us well informed. I would not hesitate to place another loved one at the Oaks! "

"I stayed at Brookridge Retirement. I had a nurse, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Sometimes, when you walk into a place like this, it has a smell, but this place didn't. It was like walking into somebody's home. It is a great facility. The food was good and appealing. You had a choice. They would send you what was on the menu for the day, but they also would let you select something different. My room was very spacious and big. They're very expensive, but my insurance paid for it. You get quality, service, and housekeeping. It's top-rated."

"I was originally very pleased with the care my mother received at Springwood. However, recent changes in staffing have negatively affected the care she receives. It is extremely hard to get appropriate wound care, the facility has an unpleasant odor more often than not, it is difficult to get anyone on the phone, instructions are not relayed appropriately between shifts and I am not entirely sure there would be much care at all if it were not for the Hospice staff. I have gone from being very satisfied to very dissatisfied in a short period of time. "

"My mom came out of a rehab center -- the Winston Salem Nursing and Rehab. She was there for about a month. They could have been a little better. Some staff that was very nice, but a lot of them was not that good. They were kind of lazy. When you walk in, you don’t feel everything was clean. My mom didn’t particularly like the food. She hardly ate up there. I did notice that some of the stuff that she wasn’t supposed to eat, she was eating up there, so that wasn’t good. "

"My parents moved to Arbor Acres in 1994, and could not have been treated better. From the first day, when my siblings and I were moving them into their apartment, they felt at home. The staff is as friendly as can be, while being very professional and helpful. The facilities are very nice -- nicer than any of the homes we lived in as kids, and as the family of a Methodist minister, we lived in some nice homes -- and the grounds are beautiful year 'round. Despite being in the city, the campus is large enough to allow the residents to be in a quiet, relaxed setting... with a nice view of the skyscrapers in the center of town. The dining facilitise are very nice, with excellent (and varied) food.When my folks moved to Arbor Acres, they were still fairly active, and there was plenty for them to do both indoors and out. As time passed, and they became less active, the staff and administrators helped them with day-to-day things and when my mother's health began deteriorating, the staff met with both my parents and my sister, the family contact person, to make sure mom was in the right level of care... all the way to the on-site hospice center, where she peacefully spent her last days.My father is still there, whistling his way down the halls and being treated like a king -- which he deserves, in his 92 year. "
