Nursing Home Communities in King, NC

"Brookridge Retirement is a continuing care. The staff is unbelievable. They have longevity and my mother-in-law has been there a long time, and they have followed her through the progression of her dementia and made sure she was in the correct level of care all along the way. It was small enough that she knew the people who were caring for her as she moved from one level of care to another. She is still with the physical therapist that she was so familiar with and the CNA when she moved into memory care. They have an extremely high ratio of caregivers. They only have ten memory care units and they have four nurses, and so they have kept her very happy. I've eaten there frequently and I think they really cater very well to whoever's there. The cafeteria personnel are incredibly caring and really going the extra mile. Before they put her in memory care, we met with seven different professionals, people with the PHDs and masters. The activities director was there, the dietitian, the speech therapists, and physical therapists. They have programs set for her for the nurses to execute, and I think the activities given to her were appropriate for whatever state she has been in, including when she was in the independent living. In the memory care they have drawings, paintings, a kitchen set up for them to work in, and just a variety of things. It's tailored to each individual resident. Like my mother-in-law can no longer draw or paint or do that kind of thing, so they have other things that she can do. It's not a one-size fits all. I think, price wise, they're very reasonable."

"It's a very nice place.The only negative thing about it.They hire Aides that have pending drug charges.Which I don't trust them type of people.I feel they need to check their employees criminal background at least every 6 months"

"My brother-in-law has been in Walnut Cove Health and Rehabilitation Center for three weeks now. They have really been good to him, and we have been pleased with his care so far. The staff were very nice. He has been in a private room. They have activities, but he doesn't go. I know they had bingo. I didn't read the calendar, but I knew someone was going to bingo and to different things. It's for really sick people, so I don't think many of them go activities that much. It needs to be updated. As much as they're charging compared to other places, they need to have updated rooms instead of broken down pieces of furniture and stuff. The rooms are so small, so when you have to share, you can't hardly move in there. I don't agree with how small those rooms are. I don't think they're very good with activities. The advantage of it is being close to home. They're too expensive compared to other facilities. This is just convenient to us and near home, but I would not want to live there. They don't get bathed when they're supposed to get a bath. The floor is not as clean as it should be. We do keep his room cleaned, but he doesn't get a bath when he's supposed to. When he first went, the food looked good for a week. After that, it went way downhill, and I don't know what happened there. It smelled like poop every time you go in the door. Ventilation is not very good, he said."

"Conveniently located to my home, have friends and family that work there. Have had family and friends there in the past and this is where my mama will go when the time gets here for a facility. "

"My mom came out of a rehab center -- the Winston Salem Nursing and Rehab. She was there for about a month. They could have been a little better. Some staff that was very nice, but a lot of them was not that good. They were kind of lazy. When you walk in, you don’t feel everything was clean. My mom didn’t particularly like the food. She hardly ate up there. I did notice that some of the stuff that she wasn’t supposed to eat, she was eating up there, so that wasn’t good. "

"My mother was a patient at Kindred's facility at Silas Creek and their nursing and therapy care was AWESOME!!! I would recommend them to anyone looking to recover and go home. "

"The Oaks is a Great place, I have had family and friends to stay at that facility and they all had wonderful experiences. Left there with great rehab and nursing care services. They would highly recommend The Oaks anytime. Rooms are big and private. Housekeeping is wonderful. The staff is very kind, caring and compassionate to the residents and famalies. Activities are great. Favorite activities are Bingo of course. "

"What I like about Trinity Glen is that they keep in contact with the family members when they find something out about the patient or whatever. They communicate well with the patient's family, whether it's their guardian or a power of attorney person. It's a very clean facility. The food is good. Mom has been there a short time, but the staff is friendly through my experience. It's not a locked-down facility. You can just go in and sign in. There's always someone there at the desk greeting you. I know there are a lot of patients out there who are self-pay, but for those who aren't self-pay, I would recommend that. Mom is on Medicaid and Medicare. Even with some of the places that are just for self-pay, I would have her at Trinity Glen from what I've seen. They're pretty good when patients need changing or something. They don't leave stuff sitting in the rooms. They take it out immediately. They have an activity board. They have bingo, church, and crafts. They also took two people from skilled nursing to the fair and I was impressed with that."

"We like Homestead Hills' location and we like the food. We like a lot of things about it. It's a community of buildings and independent houses. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. It's kept very neat, clean, and very pretty."

"I have had two family members stay at Trinity Elms Health and Rehab. Not only do they have a pretty facility, but they have very caring staff. I have to say that every person I dealt with was wonderful from the housekeepers and CNAs to the Administrative staff. No place including our own homes are perfect. When I had a concern or question about something they were very attentive and helped explain anything I needed. I liked feeling comfortable with the staff at the place in case something did happen and I needed to talk with someone. I would recommend them to anyone looking for placement. They are the tops and well above most any other nursing home in the area."

"Regency Care of Clemmons was where my mom stayed. The staff were really genuine. The welcome for my mother had been very good. "

"The facility has really taken a change in the past year. Staffing is great. The administrator is friendly and ready to take care of problems. The DON and ADON are amazing and very knowledgable. Staff is very well trained. "

"Yadkin Nursing Care Center is close to our home, and that's where my mother wanted to go. She has been there since November. It's clean and doesn't smell. The workers are all local, they're nice and friendly, and we know them. The staff give us whatever is needed and whatever is expected. They do have activities like bingo, sing-alongs, zumba, exercises, spa day, bake sales, cooking, reading time, book club, and games. "
