"We liked Heritage Greens. It’s not new but it’s nice and the atmosphere was really good there. The front door was wide open with big windows and a nice big room where people can sit around in chairs and talk. It was very nicely decorated. They had lunch for us; you go in and sit down at a nice table with a cloth on it. It was just first class all the way. The food was wonderful, there were several choices to make and they had a very nice salad bar. They have large rooms with big windows overlooking the grounds. Everything was nice and clean. "

"Carolina Pines Retirement Community is a new facility. It's very nice, and it's not very far from my house. I've gone to their seminars. They had just opened before the end of the year. From what I have heard from a couple of people that I know who live there, they're very happy with it. The food is good, too. I got a bulletin from them last week about the activities they will be doing for the month of August, which is very good. They get lots of entertainment. I like it because it's in the community where I live now. I can get to that location in less than 10 minutes. They have an exercise room. They don't have a swimming pool or a tennis court. They don't have those, but inside, they have an exercise room, a theater, a lounge, a room for art activities, and a beauty shop. They don't have garages, so if your car is not used to sleeping outside, it has to get used to it because there's no garage. With regard to upkeep, it's clean, well-kept, and bright. At the seminars, the food has been very good. They have very good chefs who are working there. If I had to choose between three places in North Carolina, one would be Carolina Pines. I will go there because it's still in my community, and I could keep my routine like the hospital and doctors. Everything is right here."

"My brother now lives in Carolina Estates. Our experience has been very good so far. The overall condition of the place is excellent. The cleanliness is very good. They provide meals, and those are very good, too. It's very nice. The food is good. He never complained about that. The staff are very kind and very friendly. They offer a lot of activities, and they have some spaces in their facility too, with movies, books and games, and things like that. There's a little chapel, there's a hairdresser inside the facility, and they offer transportation to and from the grocery store, drug store, and things like that."

"I saw the independent living of Harmony at Greensboro. It was outstanding. I liked everything. The staff was also outstanding. They were very professional, yet friendly. The rooms were nice and clean, and part of that was because they're so new. I liked the floor plans. There is one thing that I specifically liked, I liked the fact that you could get units with two bathrooms. However, I didn't get as much information on their activities."

"My impression is that residents are well provided for, and staff are very good at their jobs. They have a very lively activity program, which I think is an excellent feature. I have participated, or had my students participate, several times in their musical programs. "

"This facility seemed as if it was well run, however I did not see the entire facility, and I cannot comment on every aspect of it. I worked with some of the older residents; those who were in a later stage in their life, and needed just a little more help to get by. I played piano for a few of them, and afterwards we played bacce ball. The patients seemed very happy, and the workers were glad to have us help out. The facility seemed well staffed, well maintained, and overall, the morale seemed high. Again, I cannot comment on aspects of the assisted living facility outside of what I experienced that afternoon, however I would recommend this facility for elderly in the winston salem area. "My great-grandmother stayed at Homestead Hill before her passing. She was 85+ years old and couldn't live on her own anymore. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and needed extra care that none of her children or grand children could provide on the regular. Homestead in my opinion took very great care of her. The staff was always friendly and knowledgeable and treated my great grandmother with respect. They checked on her multiple times of day, so much so that she kind of complained about it. They also made sure to give her, her medication whenever it was required. They were also great about giving her a sense of independence by allowing her to walk around the facility and partake in hobbies like knitting with others who were staying at the facility. Even in her time before her passing they took extremely good care of her and made sure to update the family at least twice a week on her health and on the day of her passing knew of all the proper procedures and ways to handle the body. The only things I disliked happened to be the smell of old perfume, but it's to be expected. "

"My mother is in Salemtowne for rehab. We chose this place because there were very few to choose from with skilled nursing care. The others that did offer skilled nursing had no availability. The place was very nice. I am impressed. The staff is very qualified. Like most places, they're undermanned for the number of patients that they have. They get her up periodically, and they rotate her because she's a non-weight-bearing patient. I haven't tried the food, but they bring her plenty. The only negative would be that they're understaffed, but that's due to a lot of things like shortage for that level of care. The staff there is good."

"Bermuda Village is a very nice facility in terms of its appearance and atmosphere. It's a lovely place. I have a lovely view and all the staff here are as nice as they can be. My dietary needs are a little different than the average person, but they try and they are doing fine. There are three meals a day delivered to me: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's got all nice vegetables, desserts, and nice meat. They have a beautiful swimming pool and a gym. They have movie nights, meetings, Bible groups, and just a very nice array of activities if one is interested in those things. Some nights they even have dancing. Cleanliness is perfect."

"River Landing at Sandy Ridge was fabulous. It was clean. The staff was wonderful. There were five or six residents that opened their homes to us. Everybody loved it there. They only had wonderful things to say about it. They were very glad they moved there and they wished they had moved there sooner. It is welcoming. I met five different couples who just love it there. The food that we had for lunch was good. The whole community is beautiful the way it's laid out. They have all the activities that I'm interested in, and they even have a nine-hole golf course right there. They have a swimming pool and organized activities."

"I'm supposed to move into Providence Place Westchester Village. I like the general manager there. She was very energetic, and she's a pastor. I was very enthused about going because everybody was doing stuff. I could take my work with me because I work at home anyway, but if I don't, I think I'll have plenty to do there. The rooms were very large, and compared to everybody else, they were better priced. The room they showed me was beautiful. It had hardwood floors. The one I looked at has two bedrooms and a living room, which includes a room for a dining table. It had lots of closets and a kitchen with appliances. The staff I met were very friendly and upbeat. They were very good. They were super and very nice. The place was very clean, I was impressed."

"the staff seem very friendly and eager to help with any and all question that my friend had pertaining to his father stay at the facility. They also had a starbucks machine that I always loved to use and a golf course for the residents to use when ever they wanted to. At times they seemed short staffed but the nurses always crossed me as pleasant and very helpful. Overall the facility is very nice my friends father was also in the rehabilitation department after he had surgery done on his hip, and again he had a great attitude about the facility and the treatment he received. most of the CNA would go out of there way to make sure he was comfortable and had everything he needed. "

"Piedmont Crossing is such wonderful place. My mom moved to Piedmont Crossing 5 years ago and I can't say enough good things about it. After losing my dad, my mom needed to be around people. We found the best at Piedmont Crossing. Mom started living again. She smiles, she's happy, she's met new friends that fill her day with joy. On top of the social benefits, mom gets to enjoy her home without the worries of upkeep like mowing her grass and home repairs. And if she needs care later on, they have that too. I'm so glad I encouraged mom to make the move to Piedmont Crossing. Our family is happy knowing mom is good hands."
