"I chose to move to The Senior Villages because my top priority was that it was close to my job, and I like how they set it up. It's not a place where people come in and do whatever they want. They have strict rules and regulations. There's no smoking inside the apartments, and if you do you are jeopardizing the apartment; you can get terminated from there. It's a nice, little community. Everybody minds their business, and they do a lot of little daily activities with the seniors who are not working. I like it a whole lot. The staff there is very professional. They own their job. They make their rounds and make sure everything is running according to protocol. If you need any assistance, you can freely go up there and they'll take their time and walk you through and explain what it is you're trying to search for. If they don't have the information they will get it for you. I respect their professionalism and how they function. They keep the facility very clean. It's like 900 square feet. You have a nice, big living room, a spacious kitchen, a big bedroom, and a bathroom. Each apartment has a patio that can hold about four or five individuals. It's a nice community, plus it's gated. You make your own meals, and everybody cooks their own food inside their own apartments. A lot of people go to food pantries to get what they need. They supply you with all the new information, they have meetings and group sessions with the church, and other things, but I don't participate in them. They have a nice gazebo, a lounge, washers and dryers, and a pool. You don't pay an electric bill, you don't pay a gas bill, and they give you free basic cable. That's excellent."

"The people at Brookdale Charlotte East were very nice. My mother was in their independent living, but she didn't want to stay there. It's great. They're just like any other senior living facility. The people were nice and thoughtful, and they took care of her. The only thing is that they allow animals, and she didn't like animals. So that was the biggest issue for her. Her room was good. She had a full bedroom bath. She had a kitchenette which had a stove, a refrigerator, even though she couldn't use it, and a microwave. She had a dining area and a living room. They offer food. They have programs there every day, and different levels of things that they have people participate in. They have transportation. They take them on trips. They take them out dining and different things like that. I've tried the food when she first moved in. I think she was in there three or four years, and it was good. Its cost wasn't as much as it is now."

"I chose MerryWood on Park because the location is very good. It's close to my family. The people that worked there and the administrators were just super nice and had been there a long time, like the chef has been there for 30 years. They were all very professional, but super nice and helpful. I met a good bit of the residents when I toured, and I went back several times. I had lunch there and the residents were very friendly, came over to the table, introduced themselves, even sat down with me to talk, just very friendly, and it seemed like they were all happy to be there. The apartments and everything were small, a little bit smaller than I would have originally wanted, but I'm ready to do some downsizing because of how nice they keep the place. And they were doing improvements. They have other things planned for improvement. The people and atmosphere were very pleasant and the location was just perfect. The food was great. You get three meals a day."

"I visited countless facilities prior to choosing Gardens of Statesville for my mom. Although it was a hard decision to place mom in an Assisted Living Facility, myself along with my family decided I could no longer provide the care she needed at home mainly for her own safety. The moment I walked into the Gardens a calm came over me. After meeting with the team, (Jason, Mechelle, Cyndi, Holly) touring amazingly clean, secure facility, meeting residents and hearing their opinions and happiness in their voices, learning about the activities, enjoying the sampling of the food I knew it would be perfect! The rooms are spacious, we were even able to bring mom’s furniture so it feels like home, not institutional. The pandemic has of course put a damper on visitation, activities but the team makes every effort to engage residents in daily activities. They follow all guidelines to keep residents and themselves safe. For that I am grateful. They keep me informed via email or phone calls with anything to do with Mom or The Gardens in general. We receive a Monthly Newsletter keeping us informed on activities as well and menu which has so many options available. They even have an iPad for the team to bring to mom and FaceTime family during these tough times! If you are as undecided about bringing your loved one to an Assisted Facility like I was, you won’t even hesitate once you see love, compassion, state of art facility the Gardens of Statesville offers. "Oak Park Retirement is independent living, and we were very, very impressed with that. It was recommended to us by another facility. We liked the rooms. They were big and roomy. It just seemed like a pleasant place to live. The cleanliness was good. The staff was very, very friendly, very nice, and answered all of our questions."

"My mom was in Willow Grove, and it was wonderful. The only thing they need to work on is their bus because when they take their trips, something always happens to it. Other than that, the place was beautiful. They should change the cook because the food was so bland, and the hallways could have been neater. The people were so warm and welcoming, and the staff was absolutely wonderful, on top of the people who reside there, and kind to my mother."

"Our tour of Brookdale Carriage Club Providence was excellent. It's a very large facility. They include three meals a day and a cleaning service. They have a full-sized kitchen and washer-and-dryer in the unit, which was a plus. They had an outdoor heated pool, which was a plus, too. They had some carports. They offered a bus service to shopping and doctor's appointments. And they had organized activities. It was very, very nice. It was a little bit on the pricey side and that's why we didn't choose it. The staff members were very knowledgeable and very nice. However, it was a little bit of a walk to get from the home to the dining facility."

"We toured here. I went to the dining room, the living room, and a unit over there inside. I talked to people. They have a studio, a one-bedroom, a two-bedroom. The size is perfect. They're not too big and they're not too small. We went to the one-bedroom. They have a little kitchen and a bathroom. I love that so much. They have an outside back over there, so if you don't want to go downstairs, you can just directly open the door. The staff introduced the living area, a game room, an eating room, and a dining room there. They have group activities, and they go outside for walks."

"We like Providence Meadows Gracious Retirement Living. It's fairly new. We saw it being built because we live in that neighborhood. It's got a nice arrangement, except for a couple of things that we did not like. They didn't have a laundry facility in the apartment. You had to go down the hall to a laundry room and do your laundry. The apartments were nice. The person who met us and took us around was an assistant marketing manager, and he did a great job. He spent a lot of time with us, showed us three different apartments, and answered all our questions. It was a good experience. The only thing we were not happy about was that they only had independent living. They did not have assisted living or memory care there, so you couldn't stay there if your situation changed. You don't have to sign a lease, though. You just have to give a 30-day notice, and you can leave. They had a big, beautiful dining room, and the residents were all going to the dining room and waiting for their meal. It's very well kept and well run. Everybody seemed happy there."

"The Pines provide three meals a day and they have some sort of meal plan for the seniors. It's a progressive community, they offer everything down to full nursing facilities. The person that gave us the tour seemed rushed. It was really nice and the rooms were twice as big as the other place we visited. The only thing we didn't like about it was that you have to pay for an expensive buy-in. They showed us a studio apartment which was very nice and roomy, and a one-bedroom which I loved."

"Symphony Park - Luxury Independent Senior Living Resort is top of the line. There isn't anything that I didn't like about it. It is nice. The staff is a very diverse group. The place is immaculate. The atmosphere of it was like a breath of fresh air. It was nice. The rooms were a little larger than most. It felt spacious. They have two restaurants in that building, and they were nice and top-of-the-line."

"My husband's parents previously lived at Bailey's Glen in Cornelius. The residents at Bailey's Glen are very active and it's a smaller community of retirees. The smaller size of the community provides more attention by staff and employees. Also, some of the residents are in their mid to late 50's, and have plenty of energy. Bailey's Glen accepts residents beginning at age 55, which is unusual for a retirement community since most begin accepting residents at 65+. Living quarters are either apartments (some have patios) or cottages. The community itself has lots of land "“ over 100 acres. Homes and apartments are nicely designed with sufficient space, rooms and appliances. Food is tasty with good variety on the menus. After much consideration, my in-laws decided to move to a retirement community in Charlotte itself, not Cornelius. This happened after my sister-in-law was relocated to downtown Charlotte for a new job. My in-laws are now living closer to their children and grandkids. We can happily recommend Bailey's Glen. It was a positive experience during the time my in-laws stayed there. "

"I visited The Glens, and I put my application in there. Everybody that I met was very nice. It was bright and cheery. It was in a wonderful location and in a very nice neighborhood. It was close to shopping. There were villas and duplexes which were spacious. This was very satisfactory because it was pleasing and they would take care of all of your maintenance for you. "
