"When we toured Providence Meadows Gracious Retirement Living, we met with the head manager and another female staff. They both led us on a tour of the whole facility and that was quite enlightening. We saw several different types of rooms, a one-bedroom, one-bedroom deluxe, and two different types of two-bedrooms. They all would serve us well if we were to go there. We saw some of the residents that were involved in an exercise situation. They also had a place where they could play poker/card games. There was a pool table and a rec room where they were doing physical therapy. The facility was excellent and well taken care of."

"I have chosen River Rock at Dallas because it is a brand-new construction. And they have everything I need like a walk-in shower, a garage, wooden floors, and a patio. It's also one level. The rooms are very nice sized. There's a very nice community area. The landscape is nice."

Recently, a dear friend needed rehab for a few weeks and I was fortunate to get him admitted. He received excellent care from the most up to date therapy equipment and staff. "Great place to live. Lots of activities and close to restaurants and shopping. The entrance and the back of apartments could use some upgrades, however the new manager (Jan) is making every effort to get this done. Jan is definitely an uplifting figure at this community. The longer she is here, the better it will get. Andre is our maintenance person and is efficient and very attentive to resident needs. I hope to be living here for a very long time."

"My uncle decided to stay at Carolina Care Retirement Cottages in North Carolina. The lady that worked with us was just absolutely wonderful. She's the director. It was a very nice and very well-cared community. We were just very impressed. The physical appearance was excellent. Everything was really well-maintained. The landscaping was wonderful. It's a very friendly neighborhood for walking your dog. It's just a very nice little community. We got there after they had lunch, and it was a buffet-style lunch. My uncle got two plates to take home. He said the food was very, very good. They have their own chef. The staff explained that they go on little trips, and they have things in the clubhouse. They play bingo and have different activities. His apartment is very nice, and very friendly for the elderly. The kitchen is very well-equipped. It has nice appliances, carpeting, clean, and hardwood floors. The living area is very, very acceptable."

"Chambers Point at Ayrsley is a very friendly community and they have a very nice property manager. The process of moving my mom in was easy and it's very affordable. Their staff is wonderful. It is also very clean. The upkeep is wonderful and the grounds are beautiful. They have activities for the seniors, and they vary every week or every two weeks. They had a bingo night and painting. So, they are a really good community."

"I was a resident of The Gables at Druid Hills. They were pretty nice. They have stuff for us to do. They have days where they have events for us, and they have a food truck that comes and delivers free food. The room size was just right for me. My kitchen was like a long front door, with the refrigerator and everything. I had my own microwave. I didn't need that, but they have a built-in microwave. It was pretty nice, and the people were great. All the folks are really nice. It wasn't far from a store. It was beautiful. They have trees and benches you could sit on outside under the trees, so you don't have to worry about the sun always beaming down on you. They had central air, and they had dishwashers. The only thing you have to do is pay for your laundry. They had laundry mats, and you don't have to have a washer and dryer in your room. We can cook our own food, have our own kitchen, and everything in every little apartment. I had one bedroom and could be right in all the buildings because I was in the center. They had a nurse on duty all day, somebody you could see. If you want a ride to an appointment or to go to church, they have a van to take you to do all that."

"I live in Charlotte Spring, and it is a nice place. It is quiet and clean. It is like an apartment with two bedrooms -- just what I need. It is not too big, not too small. It is just right. There are activities available if I choose to go to them. If they want to live here and they have apartments available, I would recommend it to others and they might as well move in. "

"I visited The Glens, and I put my application in there. Everybody that I met was very nice. It was bright and cheery. It was in a wonderful location and in a very nice neighborhood. It was close to shopping. There were villas and duplexes which were spacious. This was very satisfactory because it was pleasing and they would take care of all of your maintenance for you. "

"We visited Highpoint at Fort Mill. It was an open house so they had lots of food, which was good. It's a beautiful facility, very pretty. The apartments are very nice, but there's no outdoor space. We asked about walking on trails, and they said there's only a walking club and they walk on the sidewalks around the place. To be fair, it's only a year old. They're building across the street, probably stores and stuff like that, so the people who live there will be able to get out and shop on foot, and maybe they will have some outdoor spaces in the future. There was a tiny little two-chair thing out the front but it overlooks the parking lot. It just wasn't anything you wanted to do. I wouldn't be adverse to going back there and seeing it again, because the facilities and the apartments have this open feeling. The apartments were beautiful, very light and bright and I liked that. We saw independent living but they have graduated care if you need it. If you don't, you can spend the rest of your days in independent living. They also have cottages there which I think are not as pretty as the apartments, but I think there's hope for that in the future. I wouldn't go there now, but I would go back because it was pretty and bright. There was an outdoor patio where they had happy hours every night. They did not have a lot of activities yet. They have two movies a day, and the movie theater is beautiful. They had some exercise classes every morning, but I was looking for craft groups, book clubs, and discussion groups. I was looking for a community. That's very important as you get older. They had so much food. We only tasted a little bit but whatever we had was delicious. It looked wonderful and the people there looked happy. You pay one month's rent which is very reasonable. It's like an apartment that you pay month to month, which means if they don't fulfill their end of the bargain, you can just leave."
