"I chose MerryWood on Park because the location is very good. It's close to my family. The people that worked there and the administrators were just super nice and had been there a long time, like the chef has been there for 30 years. They were all very professional, but super nice and helpful. I met a good bit of the residents when I toured, and I went back several times. I had lunch there and the residents were very friendly, came over to the table, introduced themselves, even sat down with me to talk, just very friendly, and it seemed like they were all happy to be there. The apartments and everything were small, a little bit smaller than I would have originally wanted, but I'm ready to do some downsizing because of how nice they keep the place. And they were doing improvements. They have other things planned for improvement. The people and atmosphere were very pleasant and the location was just perfect. The food was great. You get three meals a day."

"The staff at Carriage Club of Charlotte was very nice and informative. They took me around and it was a very nice complex with nice units. They had a patio, a gazebo with seats all around and a picnic table. They also had a garden park with a grass path. However, they had a very small memory unit. They had maybe twenty rooms and they were all full. They didn't have any room for mom. "

"Providence Meadows Gracious Retirement Living includes three meals a day, all utilities, bus transportation, doctor's appointments, and shopping. They do not have a kitchen, just a full-sized refrigerator and a sink, a washer and dryer, and a common area. They offer linens change weekly. However, my mother-in-law wanted a full kitchen. The apartments were nice and very spacious. It's a little bit of an older building. The bathrooms were nice. You can get one or two-bedroom apartments."

"What I liked about Brooke Pointe Manor Apartments was that it's very secure. You can't just walk in. You have to have a code to get in. I also liked that it's very affordable. The lady that showed me the apartment, Beth, was very nice and very knowledgeable. She showed me the one that I would get if I qualified for it. It's a one-bedroom and one bath unit with a living room and kitchen. They have a laundry facility, a community room on each floor with a TV (if you want to get together with people to watch a movie or something), as well as hookups in each apartment for your own washer-dryer if you don't want to use the laundry facility. It's very clean. They have a nice area in the lobby where you can visit if you don't want to go up to your apartment."

"I've been at Taylor Glen for over ten years now. We have a hundred acres, and it's beautifully landscaped. It has an indoor pool, a library, and a post office. We have a bank even that comes one day a week. We have a dining room and then a cafe. We have entertainment that comes in. We have also assisted living, a memory care and even total health care at the other end of the campus, but it's all connected. It's all within the same building. We don't have to go outside to go to those. The biggest minus and it's probably true everywhere, they've had trouble keeping enough employees to take care of everything. Other than that, I feel like we're sort of one big family. People are very friendly and we make good friends. We enjoy eating with different people at dinner. We've just finally got enough housekeepers. They clean the bathrooms and kitchen and just lightly go over the rest of the apartment, but at least they come every week and they finally have enough help there. We had maintenance coming over the last few days. We've had our air-conditioning unit went out. They just hired a new chef and a sous-chef, and they're doing a very nice job. I think we're having more help than we had before. The person that's over the whole independent living here just moved up from another position and she's very personable and tries her best to do things that need correcting. We're very happy to have her. They are getting ready to build probably through the next year some villas and independent houses. They have something brand new for memory. My biggest concern with these people coming in more than the space for them to come down and have all the same things we have now would be enough help to take care of these new people. There's a lot of staff that are really good, but some that are not as good. The management staff is a five-star. The new manager is really trying her best to turn things around. I'm on the food committee and they list things of what we have to say to improve. The food could be a little better but it's much better than it has been in the past. My blood work has been very good and I used to have high cholesterol and my blood pressure fluctuates and all that has improved in the last year. I feel like our food has gotten much better than it was. I'm pretty pleased with it now. You can have your own garden. We have a woodworking shop and crafts rooms. We have an auditorium and a chapel. There's a lot of good things in the facility here. We have a washer and dryer in our room. We don't have to go down the hall to do our clothes and that's a big plus to me. We have quite a few people that come and some that they pay and some that volunteer. They have crafts that they make things for the people down in healthcare. They have a van where they take people out once a week to shop at the grocery store and out eating. They go get apples or take strawberries or just a good variety of things they do on those outings. This is like a buy-in thing. You pay big bucks upfront, but then you sign a contract with them and they agree to take care of you until you die whether you run out of money or not. To me, it's pretty expensive, but in today's value, seeing other facilities like this, we're probably right in line there or maybe less than some."

"I love the place. The people at the office and the residents were excellent. They inspire me the way it stood out as far as cleanliness, it's excellent. "

"Symphony Park - Luxury Independent Senior Living Resort is top of the line. There isn't anything that I didn't like about it. It is nice. The staff is a very diverse group. The place is immaculate. The atmosphere of it was like a breath of fresh air. It was nice. The rooms were a little larger than most. It felt spacious. They have two restaurants in that building, and they were nice and top-of-the-line."

"Before they were both moved into the more intensive care ward, my grandparents lived in a cottage on the grounds. They were very independent in these cottages and had neighbors of the same metal capacity. They would still go to dinner and events in the main building but everything else was done within their home. When they became more senile, and less able to care for themselves, they were moved in to the main building, under the supervision of nurses 24 hours a day. Having constant supervision and knowing they are not able to wander off is reassuring. However, even with this supervision they are still able to lose items quite easily and often have trouble being coerced into doing activities and eating all meals. As they grow older it is tougher to convince them to do activities they once loved like Bingo. It is a fairly expensive prospect to live in these conditions and sometime our family wishes there was more the staff would do with our grandparents and others living with them. Although, all said my family is very happy with their overall situation as it would be almost impossible to deal with the situation if my grandparents were living at home. There is really no other facility that we would rather move them to and it is nice being able to visit them whenever we would like. Overall I would say that my family is very satisfied with the level of care that my grandparents receive at the home. "

"I live in Charlotte Spring, and it is a nice place. It is quiet and clean. It is like an apartment with two bedrooms -- just what I need. It is not too big, not too small. It is just right. There are activities available if I choose to go to them. If they want to live here and they have apartments available, I would recommend it to others and they might as well move in. "

"I like Aldersgate, but the price was very expensive.  They're all Methodist, which we are.  I like the restaurants, the grill, the grounds, and the arthritic pool.  The staff were all very pleasant while I was there.  We looked at the independent living cottages -- two-bedroom two-bed cottages -- but we did look at the apartments too, and they were nice.  They got a new section going up starting now.  They had a keypad to check on you every morning that you're supposed to respond back and a lot of electronic stuff.  They were pretty modern. "

"My mom is staying at Williams Place Gracious Retirement Living. You live on your own in your apartment, but they have meals. I like the location as well as the people there. It is just a nice environment. You have to bring in extra help if you want it. She has a great apartment. It is a one-bedroom apartment that is overlooking the lake, which is nice. The facility itself is very nice. It is fairly new and it has only been around for three years. They have lots of different things to do both inside and outside. They do a ton of stuff every day."

"Revived Senior Living is a wonderful place located in Mint Hill, NC. It offers great care for each resident. Our Mom is a resident there and we see how happy she is. They treat each resident they serve with kindness, respect, love and they offer them a safe place to call home. Daniel, the administrator, and his staff provide care for each resident designed with their own individual schedule for their care needs. They offer onsite doctor visits, different types of therapy as needed, activities, and fellowship. At Revived Senior Care the residents get delicious meals prepared for them, their clothes are washed, there’s a nice common area for watching TV, eating meals and visits. There are only six rooms in this house for residents, so this place provides more personal care and a “feeling of being at home”. There’s a nice deck out back that the residents can go out on to get some fresh air. I can’t say enough about this place being a great choice for your Senior family members to be a part of. It has given us a huge peace of mind knowing that our loved-one is being taken care of and actually being cared for as if she is a member of their family. Believe me, you don’t find that everywhere. "

"We are on the waitlist at The Glens. It is very good. The apartments are very good. The activities and amenities are very good too. They have devotions, they have bible study, they have exercise classes, and they have coffee in the clubhouse with newspapers in the morning. There is no dining area, that's why we have kitchens."
