"My visit was very good. They were smaller, but they had very nice little rooms. They have nice areas outside to walk around. The people there were very helpful and sweet. It was more homey-like. They had fireplace in a couple of their living rooms. They have a private room where you could have private dinner with your family. They allow small pets, depending on how small the animal is, with the consent of your roommate, if you have a roommate. They have a hair salon, Bible studies. They help with the doctor's visits by bringing you there, and they will make the appointments for you. They will keep track of the doctor's visits for you. They are not as high-end as the other facilities, but the place is very nice. "

"We went to Brookdale Peachtree. As you drive in, it is very up to date. It's a newer facility, and it's kind of a gated community. The staff was very good. What I like the least is the size of the room. What I like the best is the overall cleanliness and the staff. Each one that we encountered was super nice. We saw them in the dining area. They were all sitting at their table, and everything was very organized, like what it should be. Everything was very good."

"Brookdale Lexington had lovely people. It was just a bit expensive, but the room was fine. It wasn't as big as the other and it had no kitchenette but activity-wise, they had a lot. There was not as much outside area to go to like no screened-in area, but they had a few areas of planting gardens, which was nice."

"Right now, Brookdale East Broad are doing a lot of renovation on it. They're updating and changing carpets, and painting. The staff explained all that to us. Of course, we saw some areas that weren't put back together yet, and we understand that when you're doing painting and things. What quite disappointed us the most was the very small showers. The staff was very good. The facility needs a little TLC outside. The inside is being renovated, so I can't adequately say it was topnotch or anything like that. The layout is good. The rooms are laid out pretty good. The ones without the hallway seems to be a little more open."

"The Gardens of Statesville' staff and the administration were very helpful. For memory care, I wouldn't put it at the top of the list. We were nervous about it because the majority of it is assisted living and they don't have the security setup as far as it being too easy for a patient to just wander out. They're very pretty, clean, kind, and helpful though. You're allowed to have a pet, too."

"I went to Mary's House Family Care Home. I like it, but they don't have a place for my brother. I liked it being closer to my house. It was clean and very nice. The patients they had there were up walking around on their own. They could have a conversation with you. My brother is not able to walk on his own and he is in a wheelchair all the time. It was a nice place, just that it's not what he needed. The staff I met were very dedicated and knowledgeable. The facility was newer than where he is. People seemed very happy to be there. They were content there."

"My client is at Kerner Ridge. It is a very nice place. It is very, very clean. The staff is excellent. They have assisted living and Alzheimer's units. My client has a good size room. It has a private bath. They also have an area that is separate from their normal bathrooms that they could get into a deep soaked tub, kind of a therapy whirlpool. That is pretty interesting too. I thought that was surprising. They have multiple things going on every single day. I have seen a lot of different people doing arts and crafts. They have a huge arts and crafts room. They will have lots of different people that will come in and bring their guitars. They have like daytrips where they will take them where they want to go. However, my client has never participated in that. "

"My mom will move into Priddy Manor Assisted Living. When we walked in, it felt comfortable. It felt kind of like you're going home. Everybody seemed friendly and clean. It seemed like a nice facility. The apartments are very nice. The person who assisted me was very nice. I like her. She was very thorough. She showed us all the amenities there. The dining area was nice-looking. They have everything. They have concerts come in, they have church twice on Sunday, and they have several things in the game room. Anything that you want to do, they have. I couldn't go and name every little activity, but it's enough to keep them busy if they choose to. The staff who assisted me was very good and very friendly. The place was spotless. Some places I've been in over the years had an odor and this one had nothing."

"The lady that we talked to was very nice. There was a smell, but I think that is probably normal in places like that. They seem to care for the people well, but it was kind of depressing. My husband is the one that we were going for; we were going to look for his mom, and he was not too excited about her staying there. My personal feeling is that she is not to the point where she needs the assisted living there so much, but she is not able to handle independent living as well. "

"My mom is in Somerset Court of Mocksville. They have switched doctors and pharmacists, so I'm not thrilled with the incidences. They're not giving her medication because they say they switched and it's causing problems. Well, that's no reason to deny people medication. Most of the help is good except they've taken away her supplements like calcium and all that stuff that you take by yourself at home. They won't let her touch a pill there without a doctor's prescription, even if it is over-the-counter. It annoys a living hell out of me. They've taken her stuff without her knowing. You have to go and approach them. Then they admit to taking it. You just suddenly find it missing and wonder what the hell happened, and the stuff is not cheap. Other than that, she seems to have made friends there and has settled in. God is good, but you don't want to dance in a small boat, so that's what I'm trying not to do. The place looks OK. I think it could use more trees and green space. They're crowded in a little corner in a busy town that's got a lot of cement for a little town. It's neat, and it's clean. It's got way too much cement for me, and it certainly doesn't make it any cooler in the summertime. It's aesthetically OK. It's not as pretty or as nice as some that I've been in, but it's not as bad as others. I'm happy with the room, and it's aesthetically pleasing. My mom gets her own room. For as much as what people charge for half a room in some places, she gets a room there. She has to share a bathroom, but it's a nice bathroom. This is a pretty decent place. It's not really big, but it's not really small. She likes it. It has enough space for one person to try to get better without the added expense one room would cost the person. If they would straighten out the doggone medication problem, the pill problem, and the pharmacy problem, I'd say the value for the money is good. They talk about having lots of activities, but half of their activities are geared toward Christian activities. If you don't happen to be Christian, then that probably doesn't help you. Other than that, it's good value for the money. They have the nail thing. They have a spa for people who have problems showering by themselves, so that's helpful. It's not a glamorous place, but it's OK. My only complaint about this place is that they lack green space for people to sit in. They have some levels of flexibility, which I didn't anticipate when I first got my mother in there. They're not a bad place at all. They're not the best I've looked at, but they're not the worst I've looked at. Some staff are really great; some staff are not so great. The food is a whole lot better than the nursing home. The facility looks really well maintained. They look really good."
