Mary's House Family Care Home

There is 1 to 2 staff member on duty at all times at Mary's House.

The overall population at Mary's House is age 65 and up. However, we encourage all adult interested parties to inquire. Because we are a small family setting, various ages and generations add to our diversity. Our current residents love watching TV, spending time outside relaxing with a glass of tea, and enjoy outings to various restaurants, parks, and other places of interest. We look to return to more scheduled outings as the pandemic winds down.

Mary's House does not accept dogs or cats.

Care staff receives annual and ongoing training for senior services, including training in personal care, compassionate care, and memory care.

We pride ourselves in our smaller, more intimate environment. Staff to resident ratio is 1:4 during both day and night time hours. Feel confident in knowing that your mom or dad will receive lots of care, time, and attention.

All care staff receives annual and ongoing training on Dementia and Memory Care.

Mary's House is located in a quiet, beautiful, rural setting, but not far from local business districts.

Because we have family style meals served at a single dining table, our memory care residents stay centered and interested in eating and conversation at meals times. It is a time everyone looks forward to.

Each resident at Mary's House is assessed by a licensed health professional within 30 days of being admitted. This assessment covers all health issues and cognitive functions. A care plan is then generated for the resident. This assessment is repeated once yearly or when the administrator has noted a significant change or changes in the resident.

We keep residents engaged by having family style meals together and thru other various outings and activities. We ask questions that generate long term memories for our residents. We encourage them to tell stories of their past and we listen to music.

Mary's House maintains a surveillance system monitored by local EMT, Fire, and Police groups. Security cameras are present on the property to monitor both staff and residents in common areas. Security gates are present on both front and rear entrances to prevent injury at stairs and to keep Memory Care clients inside.

Your loved ones health is a priority to us. Good health starts with a nutritious diet. We also want your mom or dad to enjoy each and every mealtime. Every staff member at Mary's House is an exceptional cook. We serve a wide variety of dishes ranging from Italian, Mexican, Asian, American and Southern Comfort food. We serve fresh fruits and vegetables each day and encourage water intake. Residents can expect breakfasts like homemade pancakes, farm fresh eggs, and sausage or Salmon patties and grits with an English Muffin. Lunch might include chicken salad over a bed of romaine lettuce and sliced tomatoes with hot soup on the side or a hot turkey and avocado club sandwich with fresh fruit. Dinner may consist of chicken alfredo with broccoli and garlic bread, pot roast with potatoes, carrots, and onions, and green beans on the side, or fried chicken, mac and cheese and fresh kale greens.

Mary's House will provide transportation to medical appointments, dialysis treatments, and other appointments of importance. We will also provide transportation for hair and nail salon appointments. Arrangements can be made for attending church and other activities, if need be.

We take trips out to lunch or dinner; We have movie/popcorn nights and game nights, virtual church on Sundays; We schedule outings to the NC Zoo; shows at the Barn Dinner Theater; viewing of the Annual Winston-Salem Parade of Homes; and visits at the local Senior Center, We stay active by taking walks 3 to 4 times weekly, practicing chair yoga, and encouraging residents to move independently.

Never worry. Wandering residents are monitored 24 hours per day by surveillance cameras and staff. Safety gates are also in place at both front and back entrances to prevent wandering as well.
