The residents are happy, very well cared for, and most importantly treated with respect. I have been most impressed by the therapy services they offer. "I will be moving into Harmony at Greensboro. I made my decision that because of my age, it's time for me to find a place other than this little house that I rent. So, the very afternoon that I filled out the questionnaire, Harmony called me, and several other places called me. I knew exactly what I wanted, so I only toured this and one other place. The other place was much older, and it didn't have the safety features that I have to have. Harmony is just two years old, and it has a very caring staff. I like the fact that the residents are multi-racial. There were Hispanic people, Jewish, white, and African Americans, as well as Asian people. I did not try the food, but I had a chance to talk with some of the residents. I was waiting for the marketing director to take me on the tour. I asked about the food, they said it was delicious. One woman about my age with the same background of mine said that I don't ever have to cook another meal, the food is so good. It's very well laid out. I am renting a one-bedroom apartment, and I wanted a large balcony and lots of windows, and I got those. The only thing that I think would make it better would have been in their initial architectural planning if they had put in a freight elevator. I'm hiring a moving company to move my belongings, and they only have one elevator for this four-story building. Unfortunately, three times a day they have meals. So, the movers can't go in during that time. I'm a little bit concerned because I'm paying the movers by the hour. It would be so much better if they had built in a freight elevator. Another thing that I like is that all the showers are wheelchair accessible. That wasn't true at the more expensive older place. One thing that is very dangerous for me is to try to climb over the edge of the tub. I don't have to do that at Harmony because they are all handicap accessible."

"I just moved my uncle into Clemmons Village last week. It looks like it's going to be pretty good. The staff did everything to suit our needs. The location is great for us since it's closer to my home, and the place is well kept. The rooms are of a good sized and nice. They provide plenty of activities. "

"Spring Arbor of Greensboro had a really nice and open 1-bedroom. They're all on one level which was a plus. It's newer, has high ceilings, and a lot of nice features. The people in the office were very nice. It didn't feel as warm, and they had plastic tablecloths on the tables. It didn't have a warmth to it. "

"Harmony at Brookberry Farm was very new and very large. Looked like it was oriented toward attracting people at a more functional level and age in place. It didn't seem to be as appropriate for my elderly parents who need more care now. I would worry about it being too big for them, but for a younger person who has a lot more capabilities, it would be excellent. Their dining area was very, very nice. It was restaurant-like. The facility was large, spacious, and well-maintained. It's only two years old."

"Brookdale Lawndale Park was a nice facility. It's a separate facility from the assisted living. It was very clean. I did not have a chance to taste any of the food or anything. They said there were going to be activities going on, but I did not see any while we were there. It was supposed to be an activity time, but they were just all sitting alone in the main room. The staff was very knowledgeable and very helpful. There was one room that I was able to tour that was available. They're all shared rooms in the memory care area. There are no individual rooms. The room was nice and very clean. They had a fenced-in back patio."

"We did a tour of Walnut Ridge Assisted Living. We went in, and they notified the lady we were supposed to talk to. She came and had a folder with all their information in it. She sat down with us and answered all our questions. She was very nice and polite. We did the tour of the memory ward, and we were introduced to people. It was very nice. The only thing is that it's not affordable for my mother-in-law. The staff who gave us the tour was named Katie. She was wonderful, and she already contacted me again today. She wanted to know if I had any more questions. She said that she would even help if we needed to continue looking. We were taken to the room that they stayed in as a whole. We were in the library, game room, and dining room. The outdoor area that for memory care was fenced in. It was very nice. When we checked the dining area, they showed us the menus. We saw that they got a choice, but we did not get to try anything. The rooms were a nice size because we're looking for semi-private. They were very nice. We could bring our own furniture or use their furniture. They would give the bed and a chest of drawers. Everybody has their own closet. The bathrooms were nice. I was happy with the rooms. They are redoing some of the areas and just had a new roof put on. The only thing is (and I don't blame them) if the person refuses to come to the dining room to have their meal, then they charge a $5 fee to take it to their room. It's an incentive to get them to go in there and eat."
