Sylvan House in St. Louis has a lovely exterior with nicely kept greenery. The staff was friendly and the seating area inviting. We were offered a snack while we waited. We could see the staff interacting with a variety of residents, from those who could walk easily, to those who used walkers. All seemed to be content. The communal areas were all clean and bright, with a lot of lighting. Our aunt likes natural light, so that was important to us. The residents engaged in conversation, games, reading and crafts in various rooms throughout the facility. We stayed for lunch and food tasted very good. It was also nutritious and we were assured that they offer a variety of options for any dietary need. Our aunt tends to be picky about food, so that was a relief for us. They regularly host all kinds of events, from community visits to parties for residents. There is plenty of space for residents to enjoy fun times with friends and family. The list of exercise offerings included regular walks, yoga, aerobic classes and visits to the local YMCA, in addition to their own work out room. The walking paths looked safe and lovely. Resident spaces were ample and efficient, with each separately temperature controlled - some with monitoring devices and all with a button for assistance. The kitchenettes were equipped with the ability to prepare meals for guests if desired. We really liked this facility and thought that the staff was caring, kind and considerate of its residents. This is the most important aspect for us -- for any facility.
