The Applegate Retirement Home was recommended by a friend of our aunt's, so we decided to make a trip down to visit. The grounds looked like they were well tended and there was plenty of seating outside, which our aunt really likes. The staff was welcoming, kind and considerate. They asked about what our aunt likes to do and what her lifestyle has been, while indicating that would do what they could to keep her entertained. The activity rooms were stocked with games, puzzles, books, media, movies. music and computers. They were well lit, bright and cheery. The main dining room was lovely. There are also options to eat in more casual cafe-like places, and you can reserve a room for visitors. The living spaces were well-lit, safe and nicely designed and decorated. There is plenty of space to keep your favorite furniture, photos and other memorabilia. The kitchens were efficiently designed with easy access. The bathrooms were large and had railings. The staff schedules activities like movies, games, outings and specialized exercise classes. We could see that there is plenty of stimulating and interesting things to do here. The food looked delicious and well-thought out. The snacks are offered all day and available at any time a resident desires. We could see how our aunt might really enjoy living here.
