Crystal Home Care was horrible. My professor’s two black shoes that we took in there with him were mismatched when he came out, and they didn’t know where his other property was. They had coffee tables in front of stairwells as a deterrent for the residents not to go down, but you can trip over a coffee table; there was no safety gate. They gave them a urinal at night time, and he was paying like $5,000 for a semi-private room. The rooms were not even appointed at all with anything that was pleasing to the eye. They gave them hot dogs for dinner, and all the residents were housed out to the senior center facility to have their main meal which was lunch time.

My husband now is in a private residential home called Crystal Home Care. They only have five residents. He has been there for two months, and he seems content there. They have an understanding of dementia. He did give a resident or one of the caretakers a black eye, but they understand that it's unfortunately a part of his disease -- Alzheimer's. The person in charge is kind of her way or the highway. I found her challenging, but my husband seems genuinely happy there. We just have some concerns about how involved the person in charge wants us to be and her unwillingness to listen to me and my concerns. He is getting good care, and she is doing a terrific job with him, but as his wife of so many years, I have the right to have my input. They haven't set up his stuff in his area, and that really concerns me.
