"I have my sister placed in Brookdale Central Chandler. I like the community because it's one story basically, and the fact that they have an outside area for them to be able to get out of the room and experience the days and not have to be stuck in their rooms, which is what I like. The staff was very good at helping me to try to get everything organized to get my sister there, and then she finally was transported by the hospital to the facility. Right now, she is just waiting for her husband to be transported. Her husband is going to join her there in that facility. Because I work full time, I have no time to go see what they're feeding them, but I'm sure they're good just like any other place would be. I wouldn't have any doubt about it because they're very meticulous about trying to keep the residents happy. It's always clean. They're very polite and very good to me. I am sure that they would do the same for her in about how they treat her. I wasn't disappointed at anything about getting her in there. It's very well handled. The staff in the front office was great."

"When I went over at Sunrise of Gilbert, I realized that they had facilities to accommodate just about any kind of a person that came in there, but when I sat down and talked to the representative, he filled me in very quickly that this is a private-owned company, and therefore there are no individuals living there that have support through Medicaid or otherwise. We toured the rest of the facility more or less, with what it would mean if I moved there as an independent person. It's very clean. They have a lot of activities, but just the way the place was built, they didn't go on the cheap. The person who gave the tour was a young person. very well dressed, very professional, very informative, and took all the time I needed to look the place over. I wasn't rushed. As my situation moves along, I will keep in touch with him to see how things are changing in regards to what I look at and what I'm thinking about doing. I saw the dining area and I saw their menus and it was very, very, very pleasant. It seemed like eating at a very nice restaurant. Not just comfort food, they had some of the finer things. If you have to downsize, you can move into someplace like Sunrise of Gilbert and feel like you haven't just thrown your whole life out the window. There's still a lot of life left and opportunities for you to explore and meet new people."

"We went to Brookdale East Mesa. I liked it. The rooms are kind of small. They have their own private room, and I like that. My wife didn't like much of anything because she doesn't want to go. What I looked at was a room that had a TV, and everything was pretty well laid out. They didn't have a shower in the room, but I can fully understand why not because people may fall down or get hurt. Everything was clean and freshly painted. I think this building has been there for a while, but the outside was nice. The RN was the one that greeted us and took us through the place, and she was excellent. She answered my questions and did a fine job. It wasn't the most expensive, but it looked fine. They had wings where smaller groups ate together and stuff like that. I kind of like that idea instead of putting my wife in with a whole bunch of other people. So this would help with her needs and the way that she is. The people that we talked to were quite friendly, and the other staff members were doing a good job with it."

"My mother has moved into Savanna House Assisted Living & Memory Care. She's in assisted living. It's a 10 out of 10. The staff is amazing, trying, and patient. We love it and it's clean. The activities director is a 10, too. Her name is Kim, and there's always something going on. She has a one-bedroom attached to a patio on the courtyard. They have a putt-putt ball right out her door in the courtyard. It's a smaller facility, so it's more intimate. You get to know everybody in there. They have a library, a puzzle room, a bar for happy hours, which are on Thursdays and Fridays, and a movie room. The food is amazing. She loves it. For Father's Day, they're gonna have a big barbecue and a car show for the residents. The activity director goes above and beyond."

"This is a specific caretaker pat on the back for Iesha. Usually each Sunday, I take my husband to mass. The receptionist on that morning is usually Iesha. Although her job description probably doesn't include coming from behind the desk and helping us out, she is always very accommodating--helping Vince with his walker or taking him in the wheelchair to the car."

"Marigold Assisted Living is a very nice, clean, caring facility. Staff, Lani and Annie are courteous and compassionate. They, along with the Hospice nurses, provided our brother with excellent care."

"Solterra Senior Living at Chandler probably had the most up-to-date security system of all the places I've been to, not only because of the smoking area, for the person to be able to go outside and still be fenced in. They have a security system that at every corner and up and down the hallways, there is a checkpoint. If a person walks by that checkpoint, it records that person. So if somebody comes and say, "I want to come and visit Maria," and I go to her room and she's not there, I can go and ask them to see where Maria is, and they'll be able to pinpoint her to the very last place she passed. It's absolutely incredible. Other places don't have a system like this that actually tracks the person. They had private rooms. It's 40 minutes from the house here, but it is well worth the 40 minutes to go over there. The staff member was very cordial and very informative. He was the only man that showed me around, and all the rest of the facilities were women. I appreciated the women, but he really did a good job of showing everything. He gave me all the information that I needed. All the places gave me the information, but he just had so much more to offer. The place was exceptional."

"I was very impressed with Mosaic Gardens Memory Care at Chandler. It was good lighting. There weren't any smells. There weren't any obvious things that would cause me to be concerned. They talked a lot about their Montessori style of care, which I am very interested in. I think my mom would do very well in a community that is inclusive. They're allowing my mom to be an active part of not only taking care of herself but taking care of others, too. They have the ability to help facilitate things that have been meaningful to my mom in her prime like allowing her to continue to sew and just being able to own that as a new home. I think the transition is going to be difficult for my mom and my family in general, but I feel like Mosaic has the ability to successfully transition her. I love that their director of nursing is an RN and that she's very, very involved. She's very hands-on and very genuine. I would say that Mosaic would probably be my number one choice. I love that it's very hands-on. I feel like the activities were so much more than bingo. There weren't any dislikes for me at all. I felt like it was a good community. It's in a great location. The building was clean and laid out very well. It looked a little older on the outside than it did on the inside, which may be a deterrent. The atmosphere was very calm. I toured with my sister and that was the very first thing that she noticed. It was quiet, it seemed joyful, and it seemed peaceful. It was a very lovely atmosphere."

"I have moved into Pennington Gardens. They have a wonderful sitting and garden area with a gazebo. There are several courtyards throughout the community. When you walk in, the lobby area looks like a Hilton. There is a food service of three meals a day. Laundry is provided as well as some light housekeeping. There is a nursing staff, CNAs, or patient care techs 24/7, including the weekends. They have a movie theater. There is a library with several staging areas of books. There is a Wii game for bowling. There is bingo. Sometimes they do painting, and sometimes they decorate desserts that are going to be passed at dinner. The food is OK. I have a renal diet, and so mine is very bland and repetitive, but as I see the others being served, it looks appetizing. I sit at a table with six very pleasant people with different backgrounds and everything, so it's a great conversation. They have Happy Hour on Thursday afternoons at 4:00, and they have an ice cream social on Saturday afternoon."
