My dad has moved into Always Caring. It's a nice place. What drew me to it was that in the group home, they have an area where patients that need physical therapy have a little area for them with equipment down there. The rooms are pretty spacious, and they all have a TV in them. They have a single twin bed with regular furniture, but you can get a hospital bed if you want. They also have two nurses that are on-site at all times, a podiatrist that could come in, and a nurse practitioner that could do primary care. The staff are caring and very nurturing. It was a good transition for him because he's never been in a group home or lived outside of the house. He lived by himself for many years. So, the transition was pretty good. They were very accommodating, making it more like a home versus a nursing facility. I'm getting the value for money based on what I would be paying, if he went to a nursing home, out of pocket. It's the one-on-one care that I like a little bit better, so that's why I went with a group home. The place is pretty well-kept and maintained. The dining area has a long table that's for at least eight people that can sit there. It's a wood table, family style, where they all sit at the same table together. They have downstairs are that they can have them walk, where they have the physical therapy. They can get them to get on the treadmill. They have little steps there so they can work on mobility. They don't take them anywhere; I haven't seen them being taken to outings and stuff like that. The manager was very quick to respond. She was able to make accommodations in less than two weeks, so the turnaround was very quick.
