"I would say Bickford of St. Charles is the best. It’s a beautiful building with lots of activities displayed so that people will know what’s available for them to do. They also allow family members and pets to drop in and be there with the residents at any time. They provide transportation to doctors, but you have to let them know ahead of time since they're available twice a week. They have a doctor, a nurse there, and they have a podiatrist on site. There are so many different things that are good about it, and the residents all seem to be happy and friendly. "

"My mom has moved into Franciscan Court. All of the staff is very friendly, and I've found that they're very attentive to my mother's needs. It's very clean, and well-organized in terms of activities. The meals are good quality. They do help keep my mother on a good schedule, and make sure she's up and active during the day and not just sitting around. They do pay attention to any physical needs that she has. In terms of any cuts or abrasions or anything like that, they take good care of that. My mom has moved into a studio. I think it helps her to be motivated to get out of the room and do some activities. If the room or the space was big, she might tend to stay in it more. I know they have 1-bedroom available. They have a library that's available at all times and other activities to keep everybody up and moving as much as possible."

"It was an excellent, modern, and very beautiful facility. The people were great. I liked that they had a lot of options for dining and a wide variety of appealing social activities and amenities, like an excellent fitness center and a pretty unique pool."

"My mom was at the Heathers Senior Homes a couple of times For respite care. She was given excellent care from a very caring staff. The food is excellent there. It’s all homemade fresh daily. I will continue to use the Heather senior homes for future respite care for my mother."

"Greenfields of Geneva is a newer place, so it is clean. The staff there is very nice. The food is very good. My mother is enjoying their food. She has a nice room. It is very well decorated. Her room has a chair, a bed, a little end-table next to the bed, a closet, a dresser, and of course a bathroom. I think they have a variety of activities but Mother is there primarily for rehab. She is mostly doing physical and occupational therapy. However, they did have an anniversary party a couple of weeks ago where they brought in stringed quartet and different people to sing. I also know that they will have a Valentine's Party on Friday. What I like best about this facility is that, we went there one day and my mom was there the next day. I like their admissions policy and how they proceed. They did that very quickly and I like that. "

"We chose Covenant Living at the Holmstad for my mother. She was familiar with it, and she had a friend living there. The rooms were generous in size, and the staff we met was very helpful and very nice. I liked the fact that they had a pool; my mom liked that too. They had concerts there, and they had the usual cards and activities. She will move in about four weeks from now."

"My mother-in-law is in Bickford. The building is secured all the time. My husband and sister-in-law feel that this is the right fit for what they are looking for. Some of the rooms are very small, and I know their reason for that is to get people out of their room. Her room has a great window looking over a garden area, and that is nice. "

"Sunrise of Schaumburg was nice and everything looked fine. The only thing that was different was it seems that there must be a lot of dogs in the building. Every time I went to the lobby, there were 3 different women who walk their dogs around the building. It just surprised me because I have never seen a dog anywhere else, but not that that’s bad. The lady who took us around was really nice, answered our questions, made us feel comfortable, and did a really good job with doing the tour. "

"My mother has been living in Sunrise of Bloomingdale for two weeks. The experience has been going very well. She is in a clean, one-bedroom apartment. It is not as big as where she was before, but it is fine. The staff is very caring. "

"We toured Sunrise of Crystal Lake. I felt my mom wasn't advanced enough to be at Sunrise. It seemed to be for people who were a little more advanced in needing care. I thought the staff was very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. The facility looked clean and nice."

"We moved Mom into Alden Gardens the week it opened (6 years ago) and have been thrilled with every aspect. The staff are amazing and it is a joy to see the positive relationships between staff/staff and staff/residents. Mom constantly tells us she doesn't have a care in the world ... A lovely home, good food, attentive & caring nursing staff, quick maintenance if needed, conscientious housekeepers, and everyone is so kind & respectful to her. If I have questions regarding her care, the staff is quick to respond to me and help as needed. Dad lived in the nursing home (also an Alden property) right next door. It was a perfect solution because Mom could walk over to see him each day. During the winter months, the Alden Gardens staff even escorted her next door to make sure she got there safely. We have been so grateful for the many, many ways the Alden Gardens staff have gone out of their way to care for our family's needs and help my parents make the best of a difficult situation as they were forced to live separately due to Dad's health problems. I feel blessed that we were able to find such a wonderful home for my parents. "

"My father is in Belmont Village. I choose it because it is close to my house, well-staffed and they seem to take care of my dad's needs right there. There is hospital less than five miles away and there's a mall in the east coast which is about three or four miles away. There are activities like live entertainments every weeks, movies, games and all kinds of activities with memory, but he does not participate. His room has a walk-in shower, which is what he needs. However, I will say that communication is definitely a downfall. "

"My mother in law intends on going here after our visit there. The tour was very good, my mother in law liked it, and she went to visit it twice. They have a whole list of activities like sing-alongs, the rosary that my mother in law is interested in, and Bingo. They do have a hair salon on the premise, and you can sign up and go out on community visits and all sorts of things. The grounds are nice, there’s a nice garden with a little play area for children, a nice gathering area when you walk into the building, and a very nice dining room. "
