I visited this facility

My tour of Brighton Gardens of St. Charles was amazing. I walked in the door and they greeted me. They had a little sign up there with my name on it. It was great. You felt like you were just part of their community. It was so nice. The person that gave me the tour was very knowledgeable, very kind, and answered all my questions. I was getting a little bit nervous about thinking about my mom needing more care and she was able to speak to me kindly and slowly. She just took her time with me and didn't rush me at all and made me feel like she cared. She shared her own experience about when she had to do this with her family member and how hard it was. She was just letting me know that my feelings were valid and that it was normal to feel that way. She was just very personable and she had a lot of empathy. The rooms were very clean. Each hallway has an assistant or caregiver/CNA and they check on the residents every 2 hours, even in the middle of the night to make sure they're OK. So, if they were to fall or if they were to need assistance, they wouldn't be waiting all night until the next day. So, it's called Eyes on You and I thought that was amazing. I talked to some of the residents there and they were friendly. They were dining and the food looked really good. They even told me that my mom was going to love the food there. They were raving about how good it was. They were all talking amongst each other and they said they're like a big family there. The community was kind of small. So, it seems like everybody knew everybody and they had a dog that lived there on the premises and people loved that. They have people who come in and do exercise classes. They said they have weekly activities. I saw that on the activity board and they have people who come and volunteer to come in and spend time with the residents to play games. So, they have a lot of people coming in to stimulate and to give the residents something to look forward to. The residents seemed happy. Every one of them. The ones that were sitting in the lobby with the dog or the people who were just hanging out by the TV and talking with the people that were eating. The assisted living side that I saw was very positive and I told my mom that when she's ready, this facility is amazing. It is. I would want my mom there.

We had a very good tour of Brighton Gardens of St. Charles. It's very well-kept. The apartments were very nice, more than adequate, and very spacious. It's got the standard features for the handicapped, like some grab bars and all that good stuff. The dining area was very open and easy to move around in. They have very friendly people and a very nice environment. They have a list of activities, including exercises, bingo, and different crafts, and a piano in the open area where people can play it. The staff that I met were very informative and were looking after their people.

I toured Brighton Gardens of St. Charles for my husband. I thought it was awesome. They have security at the door. The man at the desk, his name was Joey. He helped me to sign in, got me a new mask, and explained a few things. The director came down, and she spoke to us. She took us through the whole place. I was really amazed at how clean it was. All the staff were clean. I met a lot of the staff. I met the cook. The housekeeper was there, and she was doing her job. They were very busy cleaning. The residents were coming down to the dining room to play bingo. The prizes there was that they get little tickets that they can accumulate; then they can go shopping in the gift shop, which I thought was an awesome thing. They could save a month and buy whatever they want done. We saw the dining room, and it was awesome. I couldn't find any fault with the place. We did not try the food; however, the food is homemade from scratch every day (that's important). I checked out the menu. It's varied, and they can have as much as they want. The residents were still in the dining room, and they were visiting. They had nice places where you can go visit. It was spotless. No cobwebs and no lint on the carpet. I was surprised. It looked like a brand-new building.

Brighton Gardens of St. Charles doesn't look esthetic, it looks homey. It's a very relaxed feeling among the residents, and it looks very welcoming. It doesn't have any smell like you would think. They were decorating and I haven't seen the finished product yet, but they're decorating what is going to be phenomenal. Very homey, very relaxing for residents just to see Christmas trees everywhere. The staff was wonderful. She answered all my questions. She even asked me questions and was very, very knowledgeable and caring. The residents looked like they were enjoying the food. They have on staff, doctors and podiatrists. They use a pharmacy, so it's not like I have to go pick up prescriptions for my mom, it would all be taken care of for her. They also have comfort care animals and you're allowed to have pets there, also.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

You won't find a place like this one. I cannot recommend Brighton Gardens enough. They allowed my grandfather to live his last year of life with dignity and unmatched care. He was loved, doted on, and every time I went to visit he was content and clearly well cared-for. His room was neat, clean, and he always had what he needed. The facility is beauitful, bright, and felt like a home- never a hospital. They keep their residents busy with activities daily and they make sure to get to know them and their interests upon moving in. Grandpa was a big Cubs fan and they made sure to put the games on for him during the season. End of life care is an almost impossible decision to make, and I cannot thank you folks enough for what you did for my grandfather and to ease our minds when we couldn't be there. Even during a pandemic, you made it work and never once had us feel like a burden for checking in on him. It is SO hard to find folks in human services that have genuine passion and dedication but yours has been as clear as glass since day one. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

My mom was at Brighton Gardens of St. Charles, and we had a very good experience. I liked it a lot. Everybody was great. They called us whenever anything came up that might have been a safety issue, like she falls a lot, so they would call us immediately, so they were very attentive. She loved the food. It was like going to a restaurant every day for her. She really liked it. They had a ton of activities too. Every day they had something going on, at least one or two things. I just found it to be a very friendly community. All the help was really nice, and she felt very well cared for.

I visited Brighton Gardens of St. Charles. I liked the activity and the caring staff. Everybody was working very hard on behalf of the residents. The facilities were very nice. All the Brighton Gardens are converted hotels, and the rooms were very big and very nice. They had a library, space where they had church services, and a community room.

I visited this facility

Brighton Gardens of St. Charles is so much bigger than the other community I visited. To me it did not have a homey feel because it was a big community. They didn't have bathrooms in the rooms, and I didn't like that at all because my dad is legally blind. The residents have to go into a shower area to take a shower and stuff like that, and that was a turn off for me. The staff member who assisted me was very friendly, although she was not as friendly as the staff member from the other community. They have an activities coordinator but there were no activities going on when I visited. I would suggest that the rooms have showers in them, especially since they're a memory care community.

Brighton Gardens of St. Charles is clean, bright, and the staff is good and helpful. It's also reasonable. The only thing that was wrong with it was it didn't have an RN on duty to give insulin. The people knew each other and they were friendly. They all seemed quite happy. The rooms are pretty nice. I was very impressed with it. It's well-organized and it's more of a community.

The staff at Bickford of St. Charles has been great and I'm really happy with the care, but there seems to be a lot hidden costs that were not fully explained. My mother's room is clean and decent-sized. They have weekly outings and different types of exercise that are geared toward the needs of the memory care residents. There are just glitches in the communication from the front of office to the memory care about the costs.

Brighton Gardens was a very nice place. The staff seemed very accommodating. We ate a meal that was quite good. The distance and the higher pricer were why we decided not to go with it. It was a very nice community with a nice staff and location.

Brighton Gardens was nice; I didn’t see the residents, but I saw one room, and it was rather small and dark. The staff was OK; she was good and fine. It was very crowded looking, they’re lined up to grab a table, it’s very scheduled, and it doesn’t seem relaxing.

I liked Brighton Gardens of St. Charles a lot. They took their residents on outings. It was one of the closer ones. It was set-up more like a hotel because I think that’s what it was originally.

Brighton Gardens of St. Charles was great, and I loved the fact that my mom could stay with my dad. They had everything that we needed. The apartment was clean, fresh, nice, very spacious, and had good lighting. The staff was very good and personally engaged with the residents. They had exercises and therapy sessions. The dining area was clean and the menu was good. They said they could make anything that the resident wanted.

Brighton Gardens was very nice, it was not as open and as lavish as the other facility, but they had a lot of interaction. They had several young girls that were visiting with the people, playing cards and games, and they had a dog that live there. The rooms were plainer but they were very nice. The staff was great, very friendly, and they seem to interact better with the people. It was just a happy place.

Brighton Gardens of St. Charles was a very friendly, very clean, and attractive place. It was just too far away from me, and I'm my sister-in-law's main caregiver. Again, it was a very nice place, very clean, and friendly staff. The residents all seemed like they were in a decent mood, and I didn’t notice any unhappiness among them.

We were really impressed with Brighton Gardens of St. Charles. It was a very nice facility. It was very bright and very clean. The sales lady that toured us around the facility was very thorough and very professional. The dining area was open and large, and they did have tables that could accommodate up to six people.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved my mother here after a year of independent living. The staff was responsive and attentive. I received regular updates on my mother's status. They were very proactive when she moved to memory care and finally hospice. I was always welcomed. I highly recommend this facility.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My grandmother was in Brighton Gardens. They didn’t take care of her the way they should have. When my grandmother had a wound on her stomach, they forced her to change it by herself, never helped her with anything, and forced her to move out when she got sicker. The staff was nice when I visited, but they didn't treated her the way she should have been treated. My grandmother had a nice, big room facing outside with a nice bed that had a remote to sit up with, and a nice bathroom. She liked the food, and they always had little food specials available. They have a Wii, and places where residents can get their hair and nails done.

My mother is in Brighton Gardens. It is nice and the people are very friendly. She has a private room that is kind of small, but adequate, and has a nice-sized closet. We don’t spend much time in there; we usually take her out of the room. I don’t like the food for myself, but they give the people a lot of sweets and sugar with desserts every day, about which I don’t know how I feel. They have quite a few activities; she keeps busy. The staff is very friendly and attentive. One of my friends has parents who are looking, and I would recommend this place to them.

I looked at the calendar, and they have nice activities as well. When my mom went to visit, she played a game there and enjoyed it. They were very welcoming, and the residents were really nice and friendly as well.

My sister is in Brighton Gardens, and I am very impressed. The staff is marvelous. I cannot say more about them. They are extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive. She is in a studio apartment, and it is spacious and homey. It is perfect for her. Their food is wonderful. Their service is great. They have tons of activities; that is why I never get a hold of her because she is so busy. They do puzzles. They have a lot of entertainers that comes in. They do bingo and lots of arts & crafts. I will tell everybody to go there. My sister is happy there.

I visited Brighton Gardens of St Charles. I would rate them a 10 out of 10. I would have definitely moved my dad there, but the problem happened to be that my dad ended up pending for Medicaid. The rooms and dining room are great and wonderful. I would say the dining room is rather casual. It is more of a restaurant type. They were playing bingo or something like that. I think they knew more people by name there. The other facility they might pass them by or say hi but not know them by name.

We went to Brighton Gardens of St. Charles. We were there for an interview, and for the couple of hours that they were there, I would describe them as excellent. The rooms were average. They were able to discuss that they do activities, but we were only there for a few hours, so I was not able to see them.

Brighton Gardens of St. Charles was very nice. However, it was a little more expensive and they didn't have a sink in the apartment which was important to my mom. Also they didn't have Medicaid availability. They didn't accept Medicaid.

I like the location of Brighton Gardens of St. Charles because it's out in the country and that's very nice. It’s a new facility, very bright and sunny. The people were very nice and all seemed professional. They are just very expensive.

I think the staff was friendly and for the mostpart competent. I did like the fact that when you walked in you did not smell "urine." I know that sounds gross but I have found that with other facilities. He was able to take part in activities although he did not always choose to do so. There was an issue with him being taken to the bathroom in a timely manner, however, part of that was his fault as he would wait until the last minute to buzz them. One thing I did like about the facility was that he was able to have a glass of wine. He was also able to go on "field trips." He went to Walmart (his favorite) and went to lunch and dinner. I think that helped the place feel not so much like a prison. His depression issues I think were because of the place. No matter how nice the place is and the people are, it is depressing to be thinking of your life as coming to an end. This is an individual decision for everyone. They did have a social worker who would cooridnate the efforts of the doctors, etc.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My relative has found a friendly, comfortable community at Brighton Gardens. The staff is attentive, friendly and positive. Most workers know my relative by name and seem to genuinely care about her. The facility is as "homey" as a facility can be with seasonal decorations and comfortable and clean common areas. My relative's room, too, is kept very clean. The food is pretty good -- a little too much pasta -- but nutritious and filling. Activities are abundant and the residents are encouraged to participate. Facilities like these can seem depressing, but not this one. It is a vibrant place to enjoy life.
