I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Our parents are doing very well at The Bridges Retirement Community. The administrators were very direct, helpful, and flexible with us as we negotiated the transition for my parents. They were very clear with us about how we could help that transition, and what would be required to support my mother in memory care. They have been doing a very good job of keeping us informed about the various COVID protocols and things going on in the home. So it's been a good experience. Compared to some places that we saw, the rooms are pretty nice. My father's room is more like a little apartment with a fridge. My mother's room in memory care is old but very comfortable and nicely appointed. They keep the place up well and the surroundings are comfortable. They have a beautiful outdoor area where you can overlook gardens and the pond, and it's lovely. In general, the food is good. We haven't had any complaints and my mother seems to be eating well and my father also. I think they do a good job with the food. One area of improvement would maybe be some more activities that take the assisted living folks into the community. You can't do that now, because of COVID, so I kind of understand those limitations.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friends room in the memory care is not kept cleaned. I visited my friend and there was pooped smeared in the toilet and she was assisted to go to the toilet where it was not flushed on a Tuesday, 22 of June 2021 on Wednesday the 23, the same poop and smeared feces was in and on the toilet over 24 hours later. My friend is 94 years of age and had pooped smeared on the floor from toilet to her bed on one occasion. This is because she is left to potty herself instead of them assisting her on most occasions. I usually go behind her and clean up but I wanted to see if it was left and it was. Nurse or LPN was extremely rude when I asked for help this 22nd of June for her to go to the potty. Long red headed lady I will call since she refused to give me her name said, "She potty's herself ever day." She did rudely help and when my friend kept saying I'm sorry because she had pooped in her diaper there was no solace from her so I said, "It is ok that is her job to help you", the worker yelled at me and said,."Don't ever say that to me or my workers"! I said that is what I tell her when I help her and please don't yell at me in front of her. This worker then left my friend on the toilet and said I am going to get some one to wipe her there are no wet wipes and was gone for over 5 minutes while my friend was moaning on the toilet to go back to bed. I went to see what the hold up was and another worker came down the hall with 2 wet wipes open in her hand. This I thought was very unsanitary especially with the concerns of covid. After a helper wiped her I helped my friend back to bed. I told the head nurse Jackie this and she said she would speak to the worker about her tone with me. My friend is with hospice care also and hospice has supplied a wheel chair for her use yet they on several occasions are still forcing her to walk from her bedroom to the dining room, even though she took a fall the month of June. Her daughter was notified that she was on the floor in the doorway. When her daughter asked what happened they said they believed she just sat down. I went to investigate later on a visit that day and no one would tell me what happened. When I informed them she was with hospice a male nurse said he makes her walk to help her bowels move. My reply is that she in only eating a couple of spoons of food a day and two boost and rehabbing was a moot point at this juncture. That is why the wheelchair was supplied and it stays with the patient. I am very disappointed at the care my friend has received here and would not let them take care of my dog. Some of the staff is kind, but most are rude, the food is terrible, and the appear to hate their jobs.

We chose The Bridges for my mother-in-law because it's closer to the rest of our family. She's in memory care. They're very thorough, and the staff has been there since the place opened. I ate there Monday, and it was delicious. They have sing-alongs. It's beautiful, clean, well kept, and organized. The value for the money is very good. It's convenient to the interstate and to the hospital. There are lots of parking.

I am/was a resident of this facility

The Bridges was brand spanking new, and because I’m so visual, I just loved it. Everything was top notch. I got treated not like I was on welfare, but like I was the richest woman alive, and I got very close with the owner. They were a wonderful family. They were outstandingly caring about the next phase from assisted living which was small condos for a single woman that wanted their little home, their kitchen, and their privacy. They had a fantastic social plan. Every day, you had something interesting to do to keep your mind alive, alert, awake, and enthusiastic about life every single day. The one thing that stands out to me are the people there. They had great senses of humor. They included you in everything they were doing. They never kept you out of the circle. It was a delightful environment. It caused them $10,000 to heat their pool in the winter. They had 120 residents there. I and one other woman swim in the winter every single day. They pay that extra $10,000 a month. They were really there for their people.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I moved my mom to the Bridges Memory Care Unit from another facility in Florida. I was amazed at the care and devotion the staff have towards the residents. I feel when I leave her that I am leaving her in the hands of family. The activities department is amazing with all of the interaction they have with the residents and the love they extend to them. The Administrative Staff at this facility have mastered the the road of leadership by example, they are 5 stars and make your transition the best possible experience. I recommend the Bridges to anyone looking for a loving and caring facility to place a loved one.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We placed my mother in The Bridges. The place itself is clean, very spacious, and nicely laid. It was nicely appointed. It seemed like a nice and comfortable place for people who need assisted living. The staff has been nothing but helpful. They are very nice. As a matter of fact, speaking with a few residents there, everyone loves living there. So far, they are treating mom fantastic. They have several smaller dining rooms, and they have a large main dining room. I am assuming that depends upon whether you want to eat in a larger crowd or smaller setting, you can do either or. Each one of the residents gets to decorate their room however they like. The rooms are roomy enough for one individual with a pretty good size master closet. It is like a nice hotel room. They do a host activities like bingo, and on Sundays, they have church services. They have karaoke nights. They have a wheel of fortune type of game. My understanding is that they have activities for them every day like making jewelry or going out shopping. There is always something for the residents to do.

I visited this facility

At The Bridges, they furnished your meals and everything. It was a clean facility. However, it was expensive compared to others.

I visited this facility

I talked to them a couple different times, and they changed managers over there. The first visiting experience was great, but somebody else took over, so they're still working on it. I liked The Bridges. I was interested with the setup they had, wherein they furnish your meals and everything. You don’t get a full kitchen over there; you just get served the meals in the cafeteria in some restaurant style. With the new setup and everything, it’s got to be good. It was very clean and neat. I just like everything about it, really. The staff explained everything to me, how they work and everything. It’s very homey. People are friendly; they say hello to you and ask you how you are. They have board games and they went to ball games. I was pleased with my visit.
