My father is in Hawthorne Center for Rehabilitation of Brandon. He was there for rehab. They don't have any open spaces for long term. It's a little different than others. It's kind of a family-oriented thing where when you go there, they make sure that they guide you in what you need to do, or if you plan on having them stay permanently. They're very good on the rehab. They've gotten my dad up every day and showed him how to get his legs back under him, learn how to get out of bed, and learn how to sit down and get up. They're working with him every day. He's on mechanical food, so they've been working with him on seeing if he can get to real food or what. They're working with him every day. Someone is calling me, letting me know what's going on. We're in line for a long-term bed if it becomes available. The food is pretty good. They're willing to try and work with whoever their patient is to see if they don't like the food. They try to change it up for them or whatever.

I would not leave my dog here. All my mother's fears of being in a nursing home came to reality at Hawthorn of Brandon in 2019. My mother is blind and had a stroke. She couldn't tell me what was going on, so my sister and I stopped by frequently. Many times, she had not been out of bed all day. The last straw was when I went to have lunch with her at 12:30 (she was supposed to be in the dinning room by noon. She was sitting in a wheelchair by the nurse's desk (no nurse present) curled up shivering. No one to be found, I took her to the dining room and had to go into the kitchen to find her tray on a rack ice cold. HORRABLE PLace

My friend was in Hawthrone for 2 months for rehab. The therapy was very good but all the rest of the care was very bad. He couldn't get his medications especially his night meds to help him sleep. He fractured his back and wasn't to get up without help but waited hours for help. I even went to helped him to talk to a nurse supervisor on a Saturday about what happen the night before with the nurse. Things were better for that weekend only and then right back to not getting medications or eye drops. The very first time he asked to see the nurse the aide told him she said he was okay and she wasn't coming. She had never seen him before he wanted his medication. He is 93 year old and therapy told him how he needed to think before trying to get up or sit as he wasn't to bend when the aide was helping him back from the bathroom and he was talking through what he was to do she said "Just sit down" I was there and saw and heard this. No concern at all for his welfare. The food wasn't good he forced himself to see as he wanted to get home.

My stepmother is in a rehab facility at Hawthorne Center for Rehabilitation of Brandon. It seems to be adequate. I know that they are going through some changes. They were sold about four months ago, and they seem to be somewhat in transition. They seem to be a little bit short-staffed. It's an older facility, so it's not as modern. I'm not complaining about it; it's just me. The biggest thing to improve right now is communication. It can be very difficult to track down different people whether it be nursing or physical therapy to get an answer on issues involving my stepmother. The staff who's been there have been very nice. My stepmother seems to be satisfied with the food. They have activities to the extent that she can participate. I have met the activity director, and she seems to do a great job. She seems to get involved with the residents and make sure that they have access to different activities.

My husband and I are in here. We chose this place because I wanted to be close to home, and a lot of people from my church recuperated here. When I came and looked at the place, I really liked it too. The apartments are nice-sized. We get two meals a day, and the food is terrific. They have two choices for every meal, and we get a paper the night before, check off what we want to eat the next day, they pick it up, and then that's what you'll be getting. They also make your bed, change your sheets every other week, do housekeeping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the bathroom, cleaning the kitchen, and you can use the washing machine at no cost. It's everything I could have asked for. We have a living room on one end, and a kitchen on the other end. The kitchen is just small, because we only make breakfast in there. It's got a full-size refrigerator, a four burner stove, and an oven. I have a queen size bed, a large dresser, a chest of drawers, bedside tables on each side, and a huge six-by-six feet walk-in closet. The bathroom is also huge in case you need any help getting out of it. There's room for everything. They take you shopping, or a van will take you to places for sightseeing. They have an entertainment room, and they play bingo, cards, and other games. They have a beautician that comes in to do the hair, and a girl that does the nails every weekend. If you have some company, you can have them serve your supper in the library, or you can have a private room to entertain them. Right now, we have to wear our masks in the common areas, and we're not allowed to have anyone in our rooms. I've only been here for a little while and nothing has come up that's just been a problem. It's so wonderful. The people are so friendly, and I feel like I'm on a cruise. I just love it here.

It had nice-sized apartments, and it's a smoke-free facility. They had two meals a day, but for breakfast you're kind of on your own or you could go down and eat continental style like muffins and coffee, which was very unobtrusive. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms were very nice, well kept, good sized, and absolutely clean. You could walk down the hall and visit with the neighbors or people there. They had activities all the time.

My mother was a resident at Hawthorne Skilled care for 2 months before she passed away. Her care was beyond wonderful. All the staff, from housekeeping to laundry to front desk was kind and efficient. If we had questions, they would leave their current post and find the answer. The Aides and LPNs and RNs were also the best. The administrator stopped by regularly to see how my father was doing. This is the 3rd facility my mom was in during past 9 months, and is by far the best. I would highly recommend this place. Hospice was conveniently located within facility and they could have been more attentive but otherwise no complaints.

Hawthorne was nice, but it had too many people, and I thought Mom would be better off in a smaller place. It had a central area with four segments around and a nice porch with rockers on it where they could relax.

The staff was very nice and friendly. The food was good, and they have different things going on that day. The people were friendly, and I would consider the place in the future.

Hawthorne is just a fabulous place to live. I love the whole thing. The staff is just wonderful. Anything that you want done, they will do it. They're just very caring people. They're friendly and very helpful, too. I like the food. They have bingo, afternoon tea once a month, theme nights, and movies.

Hawthorne was a big and new facility. It was an absolutely beautiful place. If I had the money, I would put my husband in Hawthorne because they were first rate. We met a lot of people there and we heard such good comments about them and given such good care and we thought that would be a wonderful place to be. They even had a chapel. They had a big building on the ground for assisted living and I would love to be into something like that because we still need help. However, they were probably eight to ten miles away from my home.

I liked Hawthorne very much. It was clean. The staff was very friendly. Their private rooms and shared rooms were in decent sizes. They had games for the residents and they took them out by bus.
