"I toured Hawthorne Estates of Brandon, and the staff was so friendly. They welcomed me, and I thought, "I have been living there for a long time." The people who lived there were very nice. I really enjoyed it when I was there. It was a friendly atmosphere, and I loved it. The facility was very clean, and I didn't have any problems. I walk with a walker, so going in and coming out of the facility was great. They have a washer and dryer in the hall of each floor. They have activities. They showed me where I could get my hair done. They have salons. They told me at two that they had the happy hour. They had an exercise class, and they showed me a dining room, and it was beautiful."

"Our tour experience with Water Edge of Lake Wales was very good. They explained the place to me very well. I saw a studio apartment with a kitchenette that was unfurnished. So, you have to furnish it. The amenities were great. They had a library, a hobby shop, and the place was very clean. It was like a luxury hotel."

"I was very impressed with The Meridian at Brandon. I thought that the place was great. I had a nice tour. I was very impressed with the facility, and I was very impressed with the way that facility was kept, and with the people who gave me the tour and told me all about it. It's bright, airy, and clean. They take good care of the building. I like the design of it, too. There are a lot of very big open, airy spaces. There's a lot of little nooks and crannies where people can sit. They have cool things like fireplaces and a place where you can walk your dog. They have good security, too. It's independent living, assisted living, and then they have a memory care unit. And I was very impressed with the way that they did that, because a lot of people go in knowing they're going to graduate from independent living to assisted living, and then actually wind up needing full 24-hour supervision. I only met three staff, and they were all delightful. The food looked fresh and well prepared. Their menu has a lot of variety and the people who live there have choices. If they don't want the main thing on the menu, they can get choices. They can also get service if they miss a meal like they come down and it's too late for breakfast like they overslept or whatever, or if they want a late lunch. The dining room accommodates people, which I thought was good."

"From our first interaction to our last this has been an eye opener to the needs and minds of seniors . Mom was diagnosed with early stage dementia and the care staff and nurse re assured us always that this process of losing their independence takes time and patience and that’s what the staff have patience. I watch them get beat down but if it was easy most families would keep their loved ones home but it’s not. They have updated rooms and it doesn’t feel like a nursing home."

"Concordia Village of Tampa is a very big community. They have several floors. It is the best one I've visited. It's very clean and very well structured. The staff was very nice and seemed to be concerned about our situation. However, in the end, they couldn't help us because of my brother's criminal record in the past. The dining area was set up like a hotel. The private room was nice and roomy, and it had a bathroom. The residents all seemed happy and engaged in whatever activity they were doing."

"My aunt has moved into Lakeview Presbyterian Homes, Inc. It's a low-income senior facility. They keep the community clean. They pay attention to the residents. They have this little button that as soon as they get up, they're supposed to press, so they know they're OK. When they don't press it, they go and check on them. She likes the activities. They have bingo night and all that stuff. She's pretty happy. The reason I didn't give them a five is I wish maybe the security would be a little stronger. You have to sign in, but there's not always a person there when you sign in. The staff is pretty good and friendly and able to help. My aunt cooks her own food. They don't provide food. Value for money is good. We chose this community because of my aunt's money situation. It was hard to find a place that was income-based that wouldn't charge that much."

"I moved to Westminster Lakeland. I like that people are involved to get a lot of activities and stuff that help keep them motivated every day. The staff is wonderful, and they offer food. The facility is clean. It's old, but it's updated. They have bingo, dancing, and tours. They have a nice kitchen, living room, dining room, and bedroom."

"My daughter-in-law and I visited Osprey Manor's independent living community. During our visit, we sat in the entranceway waiting for the person who would give us the tour. It was nice because they had an open room to the left, and in that room, people were sitting at a table to play bingo or something like that, and I liked that. You could play cards and dominoes and stuff like that, and I used to do that with my husband all the time. The staff showed us a studio first, which I'm not interested in. Then she showed me a one-bedroom apartment, and what I liked about it was that it had a balcony where you could sit, read, or talk. She was very nice about it, and she explained everything. She showed us the stove, the living room, and the bedroom. I don't think I have to pay the pet package if my dog is a service animal, but there's a one-time non-refundable fee, and the limit is one pet with breed restrictions applied. The place was very clean. Some of the tenants, if they have a walker or something, put them outside in the hallway. It was spacious and nice. I just got scared a little bit because I started thinking about things. I think I may have watched too much TV because the hallway seemed a little dark to me. The staff also took us to the villa and the outside apartments. They offer you transportation services, utilities, electricity, water, and basic cable and internet in the common areas if you live in the high-rise part. They do daily social, cultural, and recreational activities, housekeeping, and laundry services. They also have a full-time maintenance team, a stylist, and a lot of the services available at an extra cost. That's nice, and I need something like that."

"I like the fact that Beacon Terrace has residents who are related to me and are elderly. It has a nice area. It’s very current and modern. They have activities, like shuffleboard and things like that. They have the ability to have outside assistance, too. "

"I visited Mas Verde Mobile Home Estates. It was too expensive. It's basically modular homes, and there are some trailers in there. It was a very nice community. It was very well kept, and I was trying to get away from having to mow my garden and do stuff like that. They didn't do that there, and they charge more. They have a pool, and they have a place where you can go eat if you don't like to cook. You could go in and have a meal in the dining room. They have an exercise room, and the pool. The dining room was empty. It's just a bunch of chairs. They have a kitchen. I don't know how they work, and I don't know if you have to tell them ahead of time, so they know how much to cook. They were kind of expensive. The staff members were very nice and helpful. They gave me lots of information and paperwork and stuff, and they mailed paperwork. The apartment was in very nice condition. It had been remodeled. It was a two-bedroom, living room, dining room. They had a carport and an outside laundry room. It's not a gym, but they have workout equipment. People can go in there, and they can ride their bikes. Their animals have to be kept on chains if they have them. You can have pets, but you have to keep them under control. You had to go down to get license tags; you have to get this for your household. You have to get stickers, they used to give you license plates. They looked very nice. It was very clean."

"The Estates at Carpenters is pleasant. They take care of you. The staff is very helpful. The food is varied and tastes good. They come over every two weeks and clean. I'd have them make my bed when I put new linens on it. They have exercise activities, they have programs, reading group, sewing group, a library, a little store, and a nurse. It's a good value."
