"I went to Sunrise. I liked the location, layout, rooms, and how everything was arranged. I would really recommend it. I thought it was very nice. It was just too expensive. They had their own cat wandering around that the ladies enjoyed playing with. They had other activities going on like board games and a little bus that carried them to malls, shopping areas, and appointments that you just had to sign up for beforehand. That was really nice. They served three meals a day. They had access to laundry facilities and things liked that. The whole place was marvelous and placed back there in the woods with all kinds of beautiful plants growing and blooming. It was really an ideal situation for the elderly. "

"I'm very pleased with Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield. My mom's room is spacious, bright, and clean. They have countless activities for the residents, and I'm pleased that the food is good. They have a library, beauty salon, a visiting doctor, and a van for outside activities. They're getting ready to put in a theater and a spa. They have an excellent staff and a great director."

"Sunrise Villa Tuckahoe is very clean, very neat, and very impressive. The facility was very nice. It was comfortable, large, and spacious. They have lots of staff and lots of activities. They have a salon, post office, exercise capabilities, and a very nice dining room."

"I toured Auburn Hill. It was wonderful. It was on the water reservoir. It's a beautiful place. I loved the water and the facility. The memory care portion of that was very impressive, but the driving distance and the traffic were just way too much for my friend's husband. It was a great facility. I'd like to be there. I loved it, but they wouldn't bill insurance. They had areas for the people in memory care that were outside and very nice, but didn't have as much freedom moving around. One thing I liked about their memory care was that it was fairly small. The smaller the patient population, the more attentive the staff are going to be to them, and they were well-staffed for memory care. They were wonderful and spent plenty of time with us. It was great."

"I went and visited the Commonwealth Senior Living at the West End. The coordinator was very outgoing, friendly, and knowledgeable about the facility and the residents. The staff was friendly. The place was nice and clean. They had nice-sized rooms, but the only one they had available was a companion room, which would not work out."

"My mother was here. It’s small, two floors, very nicely appointed, and a lot of the downstairs rooms opened to a beautiful courtyard. They were attentive, thorough, and did a good job. It was called the deluxe studio, which was just one room, and it was nice and small but had a kitchenette with a little refrigerator, a microwave, and a sink. The food was good. There’s a chef that’s been there for nine years who is very good, so there was a choice of menu items at each meal, and the food was hot, attractively presented, and tasty."

"We visited Elizabeth House, and we liked it. The room was a good size. It was nice and clean. We couldn't look around too much because they wouldn't let us go where the other people were because of COVID. We could only look at the one room."

"The Harmony Collection at Hanover was just fine. I toured the memory care and the woman there was very nice, very professional, and got right to the point. It's all new. It's very up-to-date and was nice. The grounds are well-groomed and well-gardened. The inside is very clean. It's more affordable. I would move Mom there if they could accept her and this injury on her ankle."

"Harmony at Hanover was new and a little bit crowded. They had a different meal plan that I didn't like, and I don't think the person who toured me was familiar with all of the things they had available as maybe she should have been, but she showed me all around and was friendly. The place was also large, modern, and clean. They have a gym and a fairly large theater."

"Sancerre Atlee Station is brand new. It's within three miles from our daughter's home and also about three miles from a local medical facility hospital in the area. We liked the apartments that were available. We liked the size, what they looked like, and all that. The staff was very informative and answered our questions. The facility was very clean."

"My grandfather moved to Spring Oak Assisted Living of Petersburg. We talked that we would pay until he was private pay using the spend-down until Medicaid was approved. Well now that was approved, but they want to hold us to paying private pay even though he has more money left. So they don't want to bill Medicaid and get Medicaid money that should be retroactive from December. So we've been arguing back and forth because they want to hold my mom responsible for paying the balance due. They just want the private pay money. Otherwise, my mom's really happy with the care that she's getting, so that's all good. They have games, they do events with the residents every so often. They ask, but since my grandfather is stubborn and didn't want to do anything, after several days, they just make him more active. That's good because he needs to. The staff is very friendly and very respectful, and they know certain things about my grandfather. It's nice that they have that personal touch with them."
