I am a caregiver to my mother and recently had to attend a week long conference in Pittsburg, PA. I was concerned about identifying a compatible facility to provide respite care to my mother. ENVOY at the Meadows in Goochland, VA made the admission process very smooth and provided care to my mother that truly exceeded my expectations. My mother said that all of the staff were nice, friendly and attentive. My mother also stated that she enjoyed the activities (especially BINGO) and that she wants to return to ENVOY if I have to go out of town again. To all the staff at ENVOY- I am incredibly grateful for the care you provided to my mother. KUDOS to ALL of you!

I am writing to share my recent experience regarding my mother’s brief stay—approximately fifteen hours—at Chelsea. While I was very pleased with the care provided by the day staff, who were professional, friendly, attentive, and helpful, I must express serious concerns about the night shift. Unfortunately, the level of care drastically declined after hours. My mother’s night nurse was unapproachable and did not introduce herself upon entering the room. My sister and I had to ask for her name, which is not the standard of professionalism or courtesy we expected. At approximately 2:30 AM, my mother called me in distress, asking to be picked up due to the nurse’s continued rudeness and lack of support. She had requested assistance and waited about 30 minutes before a CNA arrived. Additionally, she asked for her pain medication, which was never provided. I arrived at Chelsea around 3:00 AM and immediately observed a highly unprofessional environment. When I informed the nurse that I was there because my mother was not receiving adequate care, her response was dismissive: “I don’t know how much help she needs; I’ve been in there several times.” I then contacted the rescue squad to transport my mother to the hospital. When I asked the nurse which entrance the paramedics should use, her response was, “I don’t care what door they use.” This lack of compassion and professionalism is deeply concerning. Chelsea presents itself as a high-quality facility during the day—likely because administrators, directors, and key staff are present—but it is clear that the same standards are not upheld at night. The difference in care is stark and unacceptable. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and investigate this matter further to ensure that all patients receive respectful, timely, and professional care—regardless of the time of day.

My loved one is now at Chelsea Rehab & Healthcare. I think they need better beds. Its cleanliness is fine. The nurses are not as helpful. We've asked them a couple of times about getting my loved one up and out of bed and stuff, and they just kind of overlooked it. I have not tried the food, but my loved one seems to be pleased with it. And they take him for physical therapy, but I don't think we're getting our money's worth.

Absolutely a center that has been rehabbed itself. The staff is compassionate and there are so many customer service programs put in place that no one goes unnoticed. New administrator, new upper management staff, all make for a wonderful feeling just visiting the center. Bravo.

Do not take your loved one here!!! I walked through not long ago....the smell was awful, residents were unattended and all the nurses were standing at the nurses station. It is a terrible, terrible place. That being said, the administration is wonderful....where did it all go wrong. All the nurses should be replaced with competent individuals that actually care about the residents. I promise you, there was not one nurse with any resident. I felt sorry for them. Run!!!!
