I think the big thing is we wanted a pleasant, well-equipped, well-staffed facility because my wife required 24-hour care just for her safety, and Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield has that. They're exceedingly well-staffed in the assisted living part of the community. The medical technicians were not only skilled but also compassionate and friendly. For a brief time, they took excellent care of my wife. They were very generously staffed. In my wife's situation, they provided not only observational care but hospice medications and things of that sort to keep my wife comfortable, which their staff was more than qualified to administer. They kept her clean and comfortable. They kept her occupied when she could be awake so that she avoided a lot of anxiety that could have been brought on. The staff were very accommodating with my need for access. They were also very compassionate and supportive of our family members when they visited. The facility itself was extremely clean, well-maintained, and cheerful. From what I could tell, just walking by, the eating facility seemed to be extremely well managed, and the food the residents were eating seemed very appetizing. All the residents seemed to be content and happy and showed all the signs of being well cared for.

I toured Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield. It's a beautiful facility. It's new. It's quite luxurious. The outdoor courtyard is beautiful. The room size is good. All the space is good. It was the most expensive place I looked at so that's concerning. Christine, the Sales Director, was fantastic.

Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield was nice. The building was a little dated, but the staff was very nice and knowledgeable. It seemed like they had a really good program. The residents seemed active and busy. The staff just seemed to genuinely care about the people. The rooms were nice. They were small but clean. There was one dining area in the memory care and it was nice, too.

I have spoke with Christine several times while looking for a facility for my mother. I must say she is top notch and a compassionate person and a very understanding person. I am in high hopes that this is were my mother will be. I have no doubts anout the loving care my mom would get from Commonwealth Senior Living.

Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield was clean. They plant and grow some of their own herbs and serve them to the residents. They serve fresh food as much as possible, even seafood. They said that they even get it from the Chesapeake Bay. It's fresh. The lady who gave us the tour was very nice and knowledgeable. I was impressed. We got to see a couple of sample rooms of the residents to see the layout of how they arrange their furniture, beds, and stuff. They have screened-in porches that the residents can go to and other areas that they can sit at. They have activities for the residents. Every week they take them somewhere.

Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield was really nice. It was more expensive than what we were looking for. The people were really nice there. The rooms were nice. They had a separate room if you wanted to have your own place. However, it was a little bit cheaper if you wanted to do a room with two people. It was a good size. It was nice for a dresser. It was set up like a hospital. The person who took us around was very helpful, very nice, and told us different things. They serve three meals a day. I believe that you have to bring your own appliances. They have a few things there.

I toured Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield. The facility was wonderful, but the staff didn't seem as friendly. The residents looked well taken care of. They have a few more amenities and a longer list of activities and things that they do. They also have a bus that could take the residents out even if it's to Walmart, the park, or the library. They have weekly outings and things like that, and I like that, too. The facility was immaculate. It was clean, so that was very impressive. The residents I saw seemed very content. If I could afford that one, I would have chosen that. It's a little pricey, but it would have been worth the price.

I enjoyed meeting with the Sales Director to tour the facility. She answered my questions and offered her assistance moving forward. I visited right after breakfast and many residents were watching tv in a sitting area. I didn't see a lot of genuine staff/resident interactions. Most staff seemed to be on cell phones and spoke after I spoke to them. The SD stated that was how staff get their notifications. I also didn't see a lot of mobile residents. Most were in their beds or in wheelchairs. The SD stated that unfortunately a lot of the residents were at the end of life. The rooms were big and very nice. I liked the fact that they had cameras in common areas and the residents could lock their individual doors. While it didn't seem like a good fit for my loved one, they seem to offer a lot of activities and amenities for the residents to enjoy.

I toured Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield. The rooms were okay. However, I don't think they have a door to the closet; it was like an open closet kind of thing. I thought the rooms were clean, but compared to others, some of the rooms were a little dated. I didn't have a lot of encounters with the staff, but the ones who took me on a tour were very knowledgeable. They were very pleasant, so I had no problems with them at all. The grounds were well kept. They have a courtyard but it's not as big as some of the others that I visited. As for activities, there were a few residents that were out in the community area, and they were doing some activities.

My father-in-law was a resident of Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield. I could never get anybody to take any responsibility. When I called to speak to them nobody could be bothered to look in the file to verify if I was the person to talk to, so they wouldn't talk to me. So then I went over everybody and spoke to the director who was wonderful. For the entire 3 weeks that my father was there, they never brushed his teeth, and I know that because he had 2 brand-new toothbrushes and neither one of them had been opened. They changed his clothes out, they were full of feces, and were just left sitting in a hamper in his room. We picked up his clothes and his belongings the day he died, and the clothes hanging in his closet reeked of feces. And we were paying them to do his laundry. He was gone for a week, and when he was picked up, there was a full load of laundry but 2 days after he was back his laundry was still full. How was his laundry done that week and I paid for it? His care level went down really quickly because they made no attempts to do any of the things I have requested, like they couldn't be bothered to encourage him to get up to continue walking. He went from being able to walk when I dropped him off, to being unable to walk after a week. His room wasn't big but it was what I expected, it wasn't tiny as well and just had more than enough room than what he needed. We weren't allowed into the community because of the COVID. We were only allowed to see him because I begged for them to have my husband and children see him before he died.

I visited Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield for my grandmother. It was a nice facility, the staff was very courteous, nice, and very knowledgeable. It was a plus that her doctor was the resident doctor there. It was clean and tidy, and the rooms were a nice size. They have studios, some rooms were like a suite, some were double rooms, and some were regular studios with smaller kitchenettes. They have a van that takes the residents around, you can schedule a daily visit to the store, they have bingo, and different card games you can participate in. All meals are included in the amenities, and I can also eat a meal with my grandmother free of charge. They are at the top of our list.

My mom is in memory care at Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield. It is going well overall. There were a few hiccups in the beginning but those were taken care of, and at the moment, we're satisfied. The staff members are outstanding, very caring, and listen to what you have to say. I have been pleased with the caregivers. The facility location works well for us since it's only about a 15-minute drive for me and my dad, and there's not a lot of traffic. Right now, they're undergoing some construction so sometimes the parking is not great. We really like the room Mom's in. It's big enough to fit a queen-sized bed and a couple of recliners for her and Dad and has a nice bathroom. The food is well-prepared and really good. A lot of times they have elaborate menus, but they don't really describe the food that they're having for dinner. I wish they'd be a little more honest about what they're feeding them since the food is not exactly what they advertise in their menus for the day. That's the only thing I would say that I'm disappointed in.

I'm very pleased with Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield. My mom's room is spacious, bright, and clean. They have countless activities for the residents, and I'm pleased that the food is good. They have a library, beauty salon, a visiting doctor, and a van for outside activities. They're getting ready to put in a theater and a spa. They have an excellent staff and a great director.

The price of Commonwealth Senior Living at Chesterfield is way too high for what they offer; we are getting the same exact thing for almost $1,500 less where my sister is now. It was a very nice facility. The rooms were not as large, but it was clean and nice, just too pricey. The atmosphere was somewhat homey, and the residents seemed happy.

I visited Commonwealth Senior Living. The staff was very attentive. I talked to the executive director, one of the placement people, and some of the nurses, and everybody was nice and cordial. It was a newer, clean facility that seemed like it had a lot of programs to offer, but the rooms were small. They seemed to be very comfortable and talked to me. The dining area was very spacious. If I had to place my mother somewhere, I would consider Commonwealth.

My mother is in Commonwealth Assisted Living. I like it because it is small and they seem to have the activities that will draw her out of her room. She needs coaxing, and they are very good at drawing her out to be active during the day. She plays bingo and has been to a restaurant. It is good. She gets personalized attention. Being in a smaller place, it is easier for each resident to make new friends and be social. They seem to be very clean and be really good with her. I don't have any complaints. Everybody has been so nice to her. The food is good. They take a huge burden off me because when my mother is with me at home, I cannot get her to do anything. They have her more engaged, and she has a couple of girlfriends.

Commonwealth was nice, but it was not as impressive compared to the other place I've been. There was nothing really negative.

Commonwealth is amazing. It was immaculate overall, and the dining room was very clean. The room we looked at was bigger with a modern, up-to-date bathroom and didn't have restrictions for the wheelchair. My mother-in-law liked it. The staff was more than helpful, more alert, and knowledgeable. Overall, I feel safe there.

In June of this year my 88 year old Mother fell and broke her femur. 7 days in a hospital; 101 days in a nursing home. I had to find a place for my Mom to live out her final days because she should not go back home to live alone. God above directed me to Commonwealth Assisted Living. From the minute I walked in I knew it was the right place. Not knowing my Mom's final discharge date from the nursing home they worked with me from the beginning to reserve her room. Her care has been above and beyond anything I could have prayed for. You can always tell when staff is just doing their job and when they have a passion for what they do. This staff love what they do. My Mom contracted a virus from a outside health care worker (Not employee of Commonwealth Assisted - they have guidelines to not spread any sickness should staff get sick) and within 2 days my Mom had double pneumonia. Had this been any other Assisted Living they would have admitted her to the hospital and not cared for her. But the head nurse along with the Dr. there along with the rest of the aids nursed her back to health. They forced her to drink liquids to stay hydrated and gave me updates several times a day. My Mom lived in the same house with my dad for 53 years until he passed almost 4 years ago. Living on her own for 3.5 with the families help. I just knew the transition was going to be so difficult for her. But it was harder on me that it was on her. She has adapted great. As with any facility communication is the main thing that is needed. I from the beginning established communication and talk to several of the staff several times a week. I'm sure things are not perfect there (there are not "perfect" facilities because there are no perfect people) but in my eyes Commonwealth Assisted Living at Chesterfield are as perfect as they come. My prayer is that my Mom can live out her final days right there.

My tour at Commonwealth was horrible. They were not accommodating, and the tour guide was horrible. I think the person who was supposed to give the tour wasn’t around. I wasn’t impressed with the dining room. The rooms they showed were small, but it was clean.

My aunt has been in Commonwealth since September. It's very nice. The people were very helpful in making her transfer from nursing and skilled care to assisted living. The price is very reasonable, and she likes it there. They have assisted living all the way to memory care. When you first walk through straight head, you'll see the dining hall which looks like a restaurant, and it is really nice. To your right is memory care and it's a secured location. The building is U-shaped. To the left down the corridor into the bay area is a wide screened TV. They do a lot of their bingo and activities there. There's a nurse station right there too. They got private and semi-private rooms, which are really nice and spacious. All the bathrooms are handicap accessible. The outside yard is real nice with flowers outside. They do all kinds of activities during the day and they go on day outings. There's something going on all the time.

My mom is in Commonwealth Assisted Living at Chesterfield. I believe they are well staffed. Everything looks nice, clean, in good shape, and brand new. The hospital is about 10 minutes away, and there is a grocery right across the street from it.

Virginia Commonwealth Assisted Living is very nice. We chose it because it is a newer facility. They have a lot of renovations taking place, and it is just 7 minutes from my house. We also chose it because of affordability. It is more comfortable than other newer facilities.

We absolutely love it here, my mom is in sweet memories side and knowing she is safe, and taken care of is such a great piece of mind!! Coming from another facility, where her care was terrible, its a wonderful feeling seeing her well fed, clean and busy! I cannot say enough about the staff, they are wonderful, from the front office to the kitchen to the nurses stations!! I would highly recommend! Thank you to all, who take such good care of my mom.... Nancy
