We’ve been using Ally Independence for the last couple of months for my dad. They make him dinner, wash dishes and clean the bathroom. My dad is very comfortable with the caregivers and they were great. Theyre caring and my dad really likes both caregivers who helped him out. They’re excellent. They’re very accommodating. There was one night that the original caregiver could not make it and they easily made a replacement with no problems for that night. It was very smooth and seamless, and I will use them again for sure. They bill twice a month.

We’re using Partners in Care. The biggest things they offered has been good assessment and good recommendations for what I need to have for my friend. The staffing on all the shifts has been good. So far, all the staff people we received have been excellent. They’re just aides, not nursing care like home assistance. They help with meals. They help clean up in the kitchen, bathroom, and his room. They change his bed, do his laundry, take his medications to him (they don’t give him his medications), and help him with transfers. He’s got to be able to do most of the getting up out of bed and into the wheelchair himself, but they assist him with that on standby.
We’ve got two shifts a day with a different person for each shift. We have four caregivers who come back repeatedly, but we still have a number of new people coming in. The big advantage is that if someone can’t make it, I have to either cover it or find a caregiver; they provide that coverage, which to me is a huge advantage. We’re doing two four-hour shifts, seven days a week.
The pricing is a little bit on the higher end of the range, but it’s been worth it. The fact that I’ve not had to worry about all these things has made it very worthwhile. They keep me up-to-date on the scheduling and all those things.

My experience with Kindred at Home is very good. It started out a little slow because the first attendant wasn’t very good, but they quickly helped find other attendants that were good. They come on time, they’re very respectful, and they do a great job at helping me out and cleaning things and occasionally cooking me meals. They’re friendly and helpful. If something needs to be changed, they call me and let me know in advance, so I’m very pleased with them. One of the things I would encourage Kindred to do is to look at how far a caregiver has to travel. One of the caregivers I had cost her a lot to come out here because she lived on the other side of town, and so it was hard for her to handle that expense. She explained to them what was going on, and she said she’d still be willing to come out here, but it was just too difficult for her, and so they found somebody else, and that was great. I’m really pleased with their services and really appreciate them.

Sometimes Partners in Care are backed up and I’ve asked them on occasion to increase the time for the person caring but they seem like they’re overextended sometimes. But right now, they got mom a person who is willing and able to take care of my mother. At the beginning they were sending people that were really young and she could not relate to them that much but now she got somebody that talks to her and so forth and helps her out a lot. She is finally happy because it is somebody that can be there a lot. I’ve requested additional time from Partners in Care before from their caregivers and a lot of the time they say everybody is scheduled out. They’re good but they’re not great.

We have caregivers over during the night and they give her showers, wash her hair, and make sure she doesn’t fall. They also check her blood sugar and give her snacks according to what her blood sugar is. They do light houskeeping, like they pick up any soiled diapers and do laundry. The caregivers are really good. We like both of them that come right now. Their scheduling and billing is good. Shelly is the owner and she’s great. Paying for Home Care in Fair Oaks, CA
The Cost of Home Care in Fair Oaks, CA
According to Genworth’s 2021 Cost of Care Survey, monthly home care costs are about $200 higher in Fair Oaks when compared to California’s state average. The difference is more stark when compared to the national average, and seniors in Fair Oaks can expect to pay approximately $1,300 more than the national average. Costs for in-home care are even higher in Napa, but decrease to the south of Fair Oaks in communities like Stockton and Vallejo.
The Cost of Home Care vs. Other Senior Care Options in Fair Oaks, CA
Cost for home care in Fair Oaks is $1,000 more than an assisted living community. Home health care costs the same as home care, despite the addition of some medical services. Adult day care comes in at considerably less, but the senior must be dropped off at the facility daily and participate in the scheduled activities for the day. The most expensive option is skilled nursing at a nursing home, which is almost $4,000 more per month.
Nursing Home Facility (semiprivate room)
Data for Fair Oaks was unavailable, so data for the nearest city, Sacramento, was used instead.
Financial Assistance for Home Care in Fair Oaks, CA
Given the high cost of in-home care, many people use one or more forms of financial assistance to cover the expenses. Below, we explain some of the most common sources of financial help for paying for in-home care. If none of these options are available to you, you can reach out to your Area Agency on Aging or Aging and Disability Resource Center to learn about local resources.
- Long-Term Care Insurance: Long-term care insurance covers expenses related to senior care, including in-home care. Depending on the policy type, beneficiaries may receive a cash payment to use towards long-term care or reimbursement for qualifying long-term care expenses. Note that there are limitations- typically a maximum benefit of $150 per day- and exact coverage terms vary depending on the exact policy, so always check the details.
- Medicare: Medicare does not cover in-home care because it is classified as custodial, or non-medical, care. However, some Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans, which offer expanded benefits, may cover in-home custodial care.
- Medicaid: Medicaid coverage of in-home care varies between different states because it is not a federally mandated benefit. Currently, all states cover some in-home care either through their standard Medicaid or a waiver program. The specific coverage rules are set individually by each state.
- Veterans’ Benefits: The Aid and Attendance benefit is a monthly cash payment that beneficiaries can use to pay for senior care, including in-home care services. To qualify for A&A, Veterans must already receive the VA pension and meet several additional requirements, including needing assistance with the activities of daily living. Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs to learn more.
- Reverse Mortgages: Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECMs) are federally insured loans that are available to homeowners age 62 and over. Reverse mortgages allow you to access a portion of your home’s equity in cash, tax free. Many seniors use reverse mortgages to finance their care expenses, including in-home care. Note that although there are no monthly payments due on reverse mortgage loans, borrowers do have to repay the loan once the last surviving homeowner passes away, moves, or sells the home.
Fair Oaks Home Care Resources

Determining Your Loved One’s Need for In-Home Care
Aging can be a difficult process, and loved ones may not always ask for help – oftentimes it’s up to their family to evaluate their need for help around the house. While no two situations are exactly alike, this checklist can help you and your loved ones determine when it’s time to start the search for a home care provider.
Guidelines for Talking About In-Home Care
If you’ve determined that your loved one needs the assistance of a care provider in their home, it may be time for a difficult conversation. Handled correctly, however, this process can bring a family together and ensure that everyone’s concerns are addressed.
