Paul Spring is a pleasant enough community, and the person who showed me around was very nice. However, there are two buildings. I am interested in having either a balcony or an outside space. The building that has balconies has only two bedrooms. I want a one-bedroom and I don't see paying an extra $2000 a month just to have a balcony and a second bedroom that I don't need. Those apartments were awfully small. The person who helped me was very pleasant. They did not invite me for lunch, but I knew that lunch was being served because the staff showed me the dining room and there were people in it. They gave me a donut and when I left, they gave me an apple pie.

During our tour we got to interact with some staff and they all seem friendly! Food smells really good. The rooms are nice, they seem to keep it updated when tenants leave. Very clean and friendly environment.

I want to thank everyone at Paul Springs Retirement for the amazing job they have done taking care of my mother. They have made it a safe and pleasant environment and really make my mom feel comfortable. The building is extremely clean and there are many activities for my mom to take part in and make new friends. It is a wonderful place and I rest easy knowing my mom is so well cared for.

My mom lived, and died, at Paul Springs. She died as a result of a major covid outbreak in the facility in 2020. The only time the director spoke to me at any length was after my mom became seriously ill and needed to switch from independent care to a high-level of assistance. She made sure the contract was signed. After that, no contact. And then substandard care. I frequently arrived to find my bed-ridden mother soaked in urine from lack of attention. Meals were often not delivered and when they were, sometimes simply placed on the dining room table which she could not reach. I don't believe she was bathed more than a couple of times in two months and she was changed usually only when I asked. I discovered open wounds on her legs which was news to the nursing staff. In addition, after she died I learned they had "converted" her security deposit to "non-refundable." I would give negative stars if I could.

We went to Paul Spring. We thought it was clean and well maintained. For my mom's purposes, the rooms were too small, but they seemed clean with nice views from the window. The staff was very friendly. The facility was clean and well decorated. People seemed to be on the ball in terms of recognizing who was coming and going, so the security seemed good. They have a salon, a dining room, a little bistro area for happy hour, a theater, and a university classroom.

I drop of items often for a family member but have visited a couple of times. It’s deceiving how large the community is- it feels like a country club when you walk in! It’s beautiful and I don’t hear many complaints. We can’t wait to be able to visit again, I’ve only seen the lobby and dining room but it looks so elegant

We have been so impressed by the communication, safety, and thoughtfulness shown by Paul Springs and administration staff during this pandemic. The staff encourages video calls and family emails. They've been safe and considerate in scheduling resident visits. The check-in process was smooth and organized. Thank You Paul Springs for all you..........

I can relax knowing my mom is in such great hands. So many groups and activities to choose from if she wants to participate but no pressure if she doesn't. She's been very happy there for years

I really enjoy this community, especially the weight training classes. All the exercises classes I take, and the walking group I am a part of, are fantastic here. However, Crystal works us hard in weight training and keeps us in shape. It is never an easy class, which is nice because it is never so difficult we can not complete it either. She is both fun and professional. Truly a pleasure to be at a community that offers so much in the terms of exercise for their residents.

Those of us in the weight training class enjoy it so much that we asked for it for 2 days a week. Crystal, the instructor and Front of house manager in the restaurant, varies the workouts and knows how much we are capable of doing. All in the call are very impressed with her and very much enjoy taking this class. Truly helps us to keep our shape and to help us stay as independent as possible for as long as possible.

Paul Spring has undergone a lot of renovations. It is much brighter and more welcoming now! I was really impressed with the staff and how helpful they were in answering my questions. I like how they serve three meals a day restaurant-style, and there are a lot of activities on their calendar. There was a guitar player when I visited and he was very good! The residents really seemed to enjoy it. Everyone looks very happy here and I would highly recommend Paul Spring!

I would like to give a big kudos to the staff at Paul Spring. I had Thanksgiving dinner there and it was delicious. The staff was courteous and very helpful. All the residents and families appeared to be really enjoying themselves. I will definitely be eating with my grandmother more often.

Parents have lived at Paul Springs for 2 years. In the past the care and atmosphere was outstanding and the secret of Paul Springs was word of mouth from happy families .In the past few months a new administration has taken over and many many changes have been made..none of which seem to benefit the residents. Food quality and menu has greatly deteriorated...so much so that my parents no longer look forward to meals and refuse to invite friends or family to join them. Changes in key employees have made no sense...there used to be a sense that everyone there was to serve the residents. Now it appears that the bottom line is saving money. Word of mouth in Alexandria is that Paul Springs is not the place it used to be and many consider different options. current residents feel like their voices are not heard and that they are captive to new administration decisions. Sadly the food is so awful....seniors deserve tasty and well presented meals to look forward to rather than the food they are served at Paul Springs. it appears that the administration does not have the interest of srs at heart but rather cost reduction. There are some exceptional employees remaining but one wonders how long they will stay under the new administration.

Being of sound mind I could not survive being talked down to constantly. While some staff were able to treat one according to their disabilities others assumed that all seniors were mentally retarded. The nursing service made mistakes in serving prescriptions that could cause bodily harm . I recognized alterations in my dosages and upon complaining became enemy to the nursing supervisor. I fear for those who just accept their medications without checking their content. The restaurant found ways to make certain items ( particularly lamb potroasted) unsavory. I know my family checked this place out and were favorably impressed . The outward appearance and conducted tour leave a good taste in their mind ., So much so that they have trouble digesting complaints as valid. My family allowed me to return to my previous senior apartment . I have been here over a year now, reached age 88 in an atmosphere of freedom . I do not believe I would have survived the year had I remained in assisted living.

I liked the location of Paul Springs Retirement. They did not have an exercise room, but they were in the process of building one. Eventually they are going to have an area where you can exercise, but I plan to get my exercise in other ways. They serve all three meals. The staff was very professional and dressed professionally. They had a laundry room and offered house cleaning services. They made trips to go shopping and the grocery store in a bus.

Paul Spring Retirement Community is a very caring community. It is decorated similar to a house, without that sterile feeling. The staff, including the nursing staff, housekeeping, aides and dining room servers display a respectful and caring attitude towards all of the residents. The business model makes sense without any surprises. My mom loves the food and the many friends she has made there. After looking at many places in the area, Paul Spring was the number one choice. Mom is safe and very well taken care of.

I am very happy living at Paul Spring! The staff are very professional and helpful.. They go out of their way to meet my needs and make this my home in every way. The staff always greet me with a smile and positive attitude. I would particularly like to recognize Darnall, Activities Director. She is very good at what she does and always goes out of her way to do a superb job. She recently provided wonderful help and compassion in the planning of my husbands memorial service at Paul Spring. Darnall paid attention to every detail, giving me the pleasure of planning a heart warming service in memory of my husband. My family and friends were most pleased! Darnall has a particular ability to plan quality events and outings for the residents. She also has dedicated volunteers who genuinely care about us all. The receptionists at Paul Spring great everyone with a smile and are most helpful and professional. Rachel is a gem! All the staff are terrific and make Paul Spring a HOME.

Paul Spring’s price was right, but it’s not a new facility. They have options of independent and assisted living.

I'll be the youngest senior in Paul Spring Assisted Living. The rooms are nice and clean -- they are exactly what I am looking for. They have a kitchen, a living room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. The staff is extremely friendly, very nice, very pleasant and very courteous. I talked to the marketing guy and he was very helpful and answered all my questions about senior independent living. It's a nice community. It's on 12 acres of land. They have a little bit of everything there.

I am currently at Paul Spring Retirement Community. I don't require any assistance, but they will still come around once a day checking on me. The staff doesn't respect privacy and the reason for that is the people on the first and second floor have more of what you would call an open door policy because they had to be taken care of. I don?t require being taken care of. They will knock and then walk right in on me and that really irritates me. If I had to go into the hospital, I had to get re-certified. I did not realize I have given up so many rights. I have an efficiency apartment and it has a shower and own kitchen. I cook my own food, but they do have a restaurant. They have a bus that would take the residents shopping a couple of times a week. They have scheduled trips several times a month, but I don't partake on it because I feel out of place.

We have chosen Paul Spring for my mom to move in next week. This facility was recommended to us by the rehab facility and I just felt like it was a better fit for my mother. It's close to me and to my son. The staff are very helpful and they have been totally wonderful people. We are very pleased and we are hoping that it will be what we hope it will be. We really felt like it would be a very good place for her. Mom has a small dog and they allow that in the facility.

Paul Spring Retirement Community was a little older facility, but it was efficiently laid out. It had a small kitchen and bathroom. The rooms were very sunny and bright and very nicely decorated. The residents I met during the tour seem to be very happy there. They have a lot of activities that would involve the family. They were talking about a "fall festival" thing that they were going to have that was for the residents and their families. However, the only thing I did not like was some of the rooms were quite a walk for elderly people to get to the dining room. It's an elementary school that was converted into an assisted living facility. But they do have people that would assist folks getting to and from the dining room. The dining area seems nice and the staff would also eat there with the residents.

While visiting a loved one in an assisted living community is never easy, during my visit to Paul Spring assisted living facility. I was pleased by the level of care and attention that was being received by my grandmother's friend. Although at first I had my doubts about the idea of leaving her to live there with other people who she wasn't familiar with, the friendliness and atmosphere changed my mind. The living areas look gorgeous and I myself would love to live there! During my visit I heard about all the wonderful amenities including a beauty and barber shop, fitness room and gym, and the chapel which I know made a difference in my friend's stay. Another plus is that pets are allowed. This greatly improved the experience for my friend as I know she would have been devastated if she had had to leave her cat behind when she moved from her home to the facility.
