Sunrise of Alexandria is a convenient location. The best thing is they have onsite parking. What I liked the least were the very small kitchens and they did not even have a range in the kitchen. They said they'd be glad to bring me in a hot plate to do my own cooking. I'm more interested in independent living and it seems to me that they are more geared toward assisted living, which I well may need at some point, but they said I could be accommodated in independent living. The staff seemed pleasant. I had a meal there and it was decent.

I toured Sunrise of Alexandria. It was great. I was very pleased with however they maintained it. It seemed to exceed my expectations for me. The refreshed rooms were much brighter. I would want to rent one of those for my mother more than the 'original ones' that are still un-renovated right now. The staff who assisted us was great. She was very knowledgeable and very patient. She was very detail-oriented in going over things. We toured the rooms, and she showed me three different models. I didn't see too many activities. But people were remaining after lunch chatting or having a cup of coffee together both on the main level and upstairs, so that looked very encouraging. They also have a great schedule of options at the facility. They don't have a swimming pool, but they have a library and an activity room that would allow people with walkers and wheelchairs for movie nights. They have a number of options. The tour and the information were very helpful. The staff who toured us was very good. She followed up twice. The director of the facility has followed up once. In terms of facilities, there wasn't anything out of order. Even if the room was old or non-updated, it was very clean, the drapes were clean, and the bathrooms were clean. It's everything that one would want to expect from a facility.

We toured Sunrise of Alexandria for my mother-in-law. We were very impressed with the facilities and with the tour we were given. It was clean and bright. We wanted to move in ourselves. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They did wonderful follow-up afterwards to make sure we didn't have any other questions. While we were there, they were actually doing a painting class. There was a library, and there were jigsaw puzzles out. There was bingo, and they had a movie night every night.

I liked the staff at Sunrise of Alexandria, and the place seemed very nice. I like that the porch has rocking chairs on the property and I liked the options for the different rooms. Everyone was very nice, and it seems like a nice, good, and wonderful property. They have a clean property that has great options for different room sizes and the restaurant looks nice, so it's good. There were outdoor areas and you could hang out there, there's a party room that you could use for someone's birthday, and there's a library. There are multiple common areas they can hang out and there were some nice amenities.

I have nothing but top marks to give Sunrise of Alexandria. The people running the places were superb to deal with. Back and forth between the hospital and Sunrise, they have been very accommodating to my mom. The rooms are quite nice. My mother had nothing but good reviews for the food, and she raved about it even when she was very discerning. She went to Level 3 nursing care where she had a lot of support. They played cards, checkers, Bingo, and they watch TV and movies. They also had singers, and church services. It was pretty nice that they kept people entertained there. It was also a very friendly atmosphere and people greet you with a smile. The place was also very clean.

i visited twice for my aunt who needs assisted living. The appearance is very attractive; The place smelled clean; The room was adequate for my aunt; The parking was limited; The staff and caregivers were busy with activities and helping residents but a few caregivers (they wore orange aprons) were standing in a cluster in the hallway speaking very loudly the entire time I was visiting; It was near resident rooms. My aunt didn't like that;

Sunrise was the one closest to my home, and I really liked it. It had a studio apartment that was exactly right, it was on a side of the building I liked, and it was the right arrangement. You can actually have a private nook for your bed. It had a spacious kitchenette, they had wonderful activities, and the studio was at the center of the activities. I liked that; it was really great. If you don’t need assistance, the cost is less, and the entry fee was much cheaper. The pastor and others from the church goes there for services.

Sunrise of Alexandria was in a busier and commercialized area. Between the two facilities, I would prefer Sunrise in Duke Street. In terms of the amenities, they were basically the same as other places. I liked the environment and the atmosphere.

I wouldn't recommend Sunrise of Alexandria anybody. As far as 24-hour service, they're not really good at that. I don't feel that my mom is being cared for to the best of their ability. When I first admitted her, all they cared about was the money. They were going to send her away if she didn't have a check ready for them when she went there. They didn't offer her a wheelchair or a walker or anything like that, not even for a rental. She was supposed to get 24-hour assistance as she's not supposed to be by herself, and they didn't take care of that either. I called to talk to somebody and figure out what was going on with my mother because her medications weren't ready for her. They gave excuse after excuse why her medication wasn't ready and kept transferring me from one person to another. Nobody would actually take the blame or try to assist. The rooms are almost like apartments but without a TV or phone. There's nothing like that in her room. She is supposed to have 24-hour care, so there should be someone going in and out making sure she doesn't do anything by herself in her room, but they don't take care of that. There food is the one thing that's good. They keep the residents active as far as making sure that they have activities and that they go out to the dining area and not stay in their rooms all of the time. For my mother, there's not much activity available to her because she still goes to physical, occupational, and speech therapies. The dining room is nicely set up; they have areas for everybody, so it's pretty nice. Overall, though, I don't like Sunrise; it would have been my last choice. They need to improve on their customer service and nursing as far as knowing which patient needs what and having it ready, not having the patient trying to figure things out. They also need to improve on having transportation ready for when patients have appointments outside of the facility.

I identified Sunrise to be suitable for my mom but she passed away. The location is good since I was in Alexandria. It seemed more community oriented and less institutional.

I went to Sunrise of Alexandria as it was recommended to us. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and eager to work for my situation. The rooms that I saw were very nice; it was a little too small for my needs as my parents are still together, but it would be fine for a single person. The dining room looked lovely and had a good menu. I saw a calendar with the menu of activities that looked very nice; I didn’t see any going on, but I did see people socializing in common areas, which I really liked. It felt more like a big home than an institution. The people are conscientious of what’s going on, and the memory care ward was secured

She is in Sunrise, and the staff is excellent. They are taking really good care of my sister. She has her own apartment, her own bathroom, and a small kitchenette. Their dining room is set up almost like a restaurant, they have a menu to pick from, and the food is really good and usually more than she can eat. They take them out on van trips at least twice a week. One trip is shopping, and the other trip is like a theater or a movie or a play or just a sightseeing tour, but they try to get them out of there in the van. They have bingo, sing-a-longs, and bands that come in, choirs and kids from high school that come in and entertain them, and people bring their pets in. It is a very unique place. If you don't know the code, you don't get in and out after 8:00 at night. At any other time, there is a receptionist at the door.

I visited Sunrise of Alexandria. The facility is lovely and the prices are comparable. It also has a very homey feeling. I was shown an efficiency apartment and it was a nice room – very nicely done. The people looked like they were well taken care of there.

I enjoyed speaking with the people at Sunrise of Alexandria. They seemed to feel like they were being taken care of. I found the place clean. The staffing was appropriately numbered for the number of people you are dealing with. The sanitation was good and the residents seemed happy to be there. The one thing I find weird is that the refrigerator opens backwards and I thought that just needs to be fixed and I hope if I come back to that facility, they would have already fixed that, other than that the facility is really good.

Sunrise looked pleasant . I found the staff professional and accommodating but we needed the services immediately and they had a waiting list. The rooms were much smaller. The dining room was pleasant though.

I don't know if I want to go with Sunrise. It was an average facility. The staff was okay. Their rooms were adequate. However, to me, Sunrise doesn't have anything that's particularly outstanding. If you're looking for something that meets average criteria, I think this place has it.

I chose Sunrise Senior Living for my husband because it was very close to me, just ten minutes away. They also had an opening in a short period of time. The place was very clean and pretty. Everyday they had something going on like arts, walks around the place, brain teasers, movies and many more. The staff seemed caring to the residents.

Upon reaching the grounds, we noticed that the outside and shrubbery were well maintained. There are plenty of trees and flowers to make one feel quaint. Entering the facility, we were greeted warmly and with a smile, asking for our purpose of visit. When we told them and wanted to take a tour, they happily obliged and took us around. The environment was very relaxed and moderated. You could tell the elderly residents were quite happy to be there, busy with their own activities. There were plenty of seating areas with lots of different activities available to the residents. These included board games, a quiet area for reading, chrochet, etc. The rooms were spacious and well kept. The furnishings and decorations flowed nicely together. The bathrooms were inviting and friendly for disabled patrons, being all compliant with ADA regulations. The cafeteria, however, was a bit outdated. Overall, it was a very nice facility.

The facility is large and resembles almost a Victorian style house. Inside of Sunrise, I and my grandmother were pleased with the interior design. It had a very "warm" feel to it. It was a 3-story place- 1st floor was the dining room and reception and a few activity/living room areas. 2nd floor is the majority of the residents who require only minor assistance, such as my grandmother. It was quiet, and the residents didn't seem especially friendly, but no one was overly rude either, or seemed unhappy. 3rd floor is the residents who require more intensive supervision-- residents with dementia. We were given the opportunity to sit down for a meal and found it to be adequate. Overall, we were pleased with this facility for the most part. Of the 3 we've visited so far, we like Sunrise the best by a little, but will be visiting more in the coming weeks for more comparison.

Sunrise Assisted Living in Alexandria Virgina was a good choice to take care of my aging aunt. She was 78 when we had her registered there. The staff was very welcoming and warm to her and us as well. She was given her own room in one of the dormitory buildings. The room was clean and smelled fresh. Her linens were changed everyday and the nurses made sure to keep an eye on her. when i askedher about her experience there she said she was having quite a bit of fun as they have a library and a game room. she liked to play board games and card games with the other residents. she liked the food as well. she has enjoyed her stay at Sunrise Assisted Living and is quite happy there to this day. The facilities are clean and fresh, the residents are entertained and kept company.

A family friend lives in this facility and has received adequate care. The staff takes care of her, in one instance shielded her from a scandal that would have hurt her reputation. Though I haven't been to see this friend in a while, last time I was there the apartments were tidy, our friend was well-fed, and nurses came in and out to check on things. I think the workers were excellent, though I did not like the care for the hallways. Many stains, and a bit of a smell, but as I said, the apartments were well-cared for, a the help seemed very responsive. All in all, I'd give it 4 stars.
