I visited this facility

We're in the process of hiring movers to move my sister to Lynridge of San Antonio. It's a one-bedroom apartment. The bedroom and bathroom are nice-sized. The kitchenette is a nice size with several cabinets. Also, the bathroom is spacious. It has a very large vanity with drawers and shelves on either side. The shower in particular has a seat right next to the water faucet, and the shower head connects right next to it, so it's really convenient for someone who has difficulty standing and showering. Just the total layout was super nice. The cabinetry was all a dark wood finish. It's really pretty. This particular apartment is on the third story, so it has vaulted ceilings which make it seem more spacious as well. The room is only about six feet down from the elevator, and when you go to the first floor in that elevator and step out, you look to the right and the dining room is right there, so it's super convenient. The staff has been helpful. They follow up. My sister was in the hospital, so they sent the nurse out to come and do her assessment. The admissions director ended up going to my sister's house where she's living right now to get the rest of the information she needed from her. They were very accommodating that way because my sister wasn't able to come in to the facility at that point in time. They have a wide selection of activities and they also have a fitness room. They call it a wellness room and they have some machines that you can use. The courtyard has a putting green if anyone's interested in putting. The dining room is a very nice size, and on one side of it is all windows, so there's a lot of natural light and that's super nice. They have a movie room with nice seats, although they aren't recliners. I told them they're going to have to move in that direction because the movie theaters have already done so. It's a good central location. It's very close to our mom's house, maybe just a couple of miles, so that played into it as well.

I visited this facility

I toured Lynridge of San Antonio, and I was happy. I liked the feel of going into the building. I liked how wide the hallways and rooms were, and the activities available. The size of the room was good for my husband. I felt he was safe and secure, and the location was convenient. I felt that the sales director was very friendly and happy to meet with me on very little notice. She made several follow-up calls to see if I had any questions. When I was signing the papers, she explained everything very clearly to me. As far as the nurse on staff, she went to where my husband was, which was very convenient for me. I didn't have to bring him anywhere and evaluate where he was physically and mentally to know what additional care he might need. They were prepared for him when he arrived. Even people who had nothing to do with me, who were in another room, made the effort to make eye contact, whether I looked like I was wandering or if they could assist me. It wasn't like everyone just took care of the job. I felt that all the staff were very alert to what was going on. And that's in its own way, a very subtle way of telling me they are watching the patrons there, that they are not closed off, that they're well aware of what's going on around them in case anyone was in distress or needed help. It was very wide open. It was either a new building or had been remodeled. I think it's a little newer. But I liked how high the ceilings were. I didn't have that sense of a little motel in these small rooms. I liked the view compared to some other places I had been. I liked its openness, and it was brighter.

I visited this facility

Lynridge of San Antonio was nice. It's a larger facility, modern, and they have updated it. I had to call them to get the pricing. I'd left them a message, but I never had a call back. The person who showed me the facility was very well-trained and knowledgeable. He introduced me, and the staff looked nice, but I got the feeling of a large dormitory-type situation, and not a homey and warm environment. I didn't want that for mom because she's not a real social person, and having to walk the equivalent of almost a half a mile every day to go downstairs to her meals, I knew she wasn't going to do it, and she was just going to get more recluse as possible. I counted there are like eight tables of eight people, and she's just not one who wants to have lunch with 80 people every day. It was very clean. I thought it was a little tight for the number of people and services, but it's the way it was built.
