Assisted Living Communities in Converse, TX

"The Forum at Lincoln Heights is an excellent facility and they're well-staffed. My mother has been there four times, she likes the place, so it's her preferred place. It's very comfortable, very clean, and very professional. It's topnotch. They're still in lockdown, but they're good with what they're doing. They're making arrangements now where you can go in for a short visit if you've been tested for COVID, or if you have to go through a PPE training process. Otherwise, all you can do is bring stuff for your loved one or mail, and they will just come out and bring them to the patients. You can go into their cafeteria or something like that for a short period of time, say only for 30 minutes. They're excellent. As far as their staff handling the insurance, the staff that books people into their long-term care, everybody has been professional and things are smooth as silk. She likes the food."

"We were very concerned about putting mom in an assisted living. However the staff has gone above and beyond in her care. She feels at home in this house and can rest assured she is given the best care she can. Shirley has gone out of her way to find doctors that will work with her insurance. Sharon ,who is my moms nurse goes above and beyond for my mom. All the staff does."

"Brookdale have medical team and staff at the place. It was really nice, very clean, and a nice porch too. It was just a good place; they had an art room, a TV room, and a nice community patio area. They had excellent staf;, everyone was friendly, and the residents seemed happy. It is smaller facility, and the rooms were small but really nice. "

"My dad moved into Discovery Village Stone Oak. This community had a room that met his size requirements and had the space for him. He enjoyed the people he met and the staff who helped him with the transition. They recommended a very good mover to him who moved his belongings from his home to his new apartment. And he enjoys the community he lives in. He made friends. He likes talking to the people there, having meals with them, and doing other things. They have three meals a day. Not only is there a fully posted activities calendar with reminders and things going on all the time, but what really impressed me about this facility, I'm sure it can't be that way, but they've changed the decorations every time we walk in there - seasonal decorations, sporting decorations, not just in one or two places. I mean, wall panels, photographs, football season, Halloween - they do a very good job of keeping people aware of what is going on. I think the decorations help keep people aware that there's a lot still going on out there. However, the move-in process was a little chaotic because at the last minute, I kept finding out things that I suddenly had to produce in terms of documentation, doctor's notes, or things like that. That really caught me off guard for the 24 to 36 hours before he moved in. That was extremely hectic and very bothersome. Other than that, my dad enjoys the meals. He enjoys his living. The access is easy. The staff are friendly and outgoing, and they make every effort to help him and me. It's been an extremely good fit."

"Franklin Park Sonterra was absolutely beautiful, amazing, and had all kinds of wonderful amenities. They had popcorn, a movie theater, and happy hours. It was a wonderful place in a very nice neighborhood but very pricey. The staff was wonderful, very helpful, and very friendly. It was a wonderful, very happy, very friendly, very well-kept, very nice place. I would absolutely recommend it. "

"We went to Independence Hill Retirement Community. I liked the fact that they have a lot of social activities. They seem to be very tuned into senior needs and making sure that they can encourage them to be involved in activities. They have an excellent menu and layout for everybody to socialize. They have very long serving staff members, and I think that makes a big difference when you're considering which communities that you want to put your family into because they've been there for a long time. They're very consistent, very knowledgeable staff, and that makes you feel that you can trust these people to take care of your parents. The staff was wonderful. I couldn't have been more pleased. I didn't really have very many questions because they provided me with so much information. We toured a couple of the models. They also took us around the facility and showed us all the different common areas that are available for my parents to enjoy. They had two libraries, a movie room, group exercises, they had activities, and they had a very professional calendar, like a little magazine that came out every month so that everybody knew what was going on. They could take their trips to the grocery store or other outings. It was very detailed. It was easy for people to plan their days and their weeks. Everything about it was great. It's probably the oldest facility that I've looked at, but it was still very nice, and it wouldn't keep me from using them. They're very much one of my considerations. We looked at the menus, and they offer a good standard menu, and then they have the daily specials, and they all looked wonderful. It was a very nice layout. The activities were in different levels and there were activities on one side of the building, and there were activities on the other side of the building, so you're not having to walk too far. We didn't want my parents having to walk across the street, so we didn't look at the cottage apartments, which would have been a nice option, because they were bigger, but the layout for the main building was done very well."

"My mom is at Adante Assisted Living and the experience is perfect, it's excellent. She used to live there in the independent living section, and so she's familiar with it. That's one of the reasons she chose it. It's also an excellent facility. It's a beautiful facility, the layout is perfect for people with wheelchairs or walkers. The halls are nice and wide, you can turn your wheelchair around if you need to. The restaurant dining room is beautiful with plenty of space, and the food is excellent. I've eaten there several times. They also adapt it to whatever you want. If you have a request, they can fill it with almost anything. They can make a breakfast to order for you, they have a list of about 15 items that are available at every meal, and then they also have two specials for the day, so it's a very wide variety of options, and it's really good food. I think that's important for people in assisted living, because they don't really have very many things they can enjoy, and that's one thing they can enjoy. So far, everybody's been very friendly and helpful, and willing to do aything she asked or anything I asked for her. They're just really good. They have such a wide variety of activities, they have many activities every day. They have bingo but they also have a lot of intellectual activities, study groups, they have a theater, and just about everything. They have about five or six activities every single day. I've never seen any place like it, we've looked at a lot of places and never found anything as good. "

"I was also impressed with The Laurels. The big problem was that they didn't have any vacancies. They couldn't tell me how many people were on the waiting list, and of course, they couldn't tell when they were going to have another vacancy because that's an unpredictable thing. My husband and I toured The Laurels, and we talked to the residents. They had 4 levels of care, and each level had their own dining room. We visited one lady in her room, and it was fine with her that we came in and looked. We were really impressed with it. "

"I toured Lynridge of San Antonio, and I was happy. I liked the feel of going into the building. I liked how wide the hallways and rooms were, and the activities available. The size of the room was good for my husband. I felt he was safe and secure, and the location was convenient. I felt that the sales director was very friendly and happy to meet with me on very little notice. She made several follow-up calls to see if I had any questions. When I was signing the papers, she explained everything very clearly to me. As far as the nurse on staff, she went to where my husband was, which was very convenient for me. I didn't have to bring him anywhere and evaluate where he was physically and mentally to know what additional care he might need. They were prepared for him when he arrived. Even people who had nothing to do with me, who were in another room, made the effort to make eye contact, whether I looked like I was wandering or if they could assist me. It wasn't like everyone just took care of the job. I felt that all the staff were very alert to what was going on. And that's in its own way, a very subtle way of telling me they are watching the patrons there, that they are not closed off, that they're well aware of what's going on around them in case anyone was in distress or needed help. It was very wide open. It was either a new building or had been remodeled. I think it's a little newer. But I liked how high the ceilings were. I didn't have that sense of a little motel in these small rooms. I liked the view compared to some other places I had been. I liked its openness, and it was brighter."

"I was very pleased with Carol Ann's Home. My mom feels like it's really her home. The staff are very caring and knowledgeable. My mom loves to sit in her room which has good view of the golf course and the ducks. "

"Shavano Park Senior Living is a very nice facility. It's clean. The memory care, which is where my mother is being placed, has ample open space for the residents to walk around. They have ongoing activities, but they have enough room to do those and let other residents do other things, so I'm very happy with that. My mom is not there yet, but I've been there different times and the staff has been very helpful, very nice, very attentive, and caring. I've been more and more impressed every time I've gone into that place. They've all been fantastic without fail."

"It is located close to where my mom was already living, so we chose that location for her so that it doesn't put her in a different section of San Antonio. The layout is very simple. You have one main entrance and then you have an elevator that takes you to the upper floor. You have two halls, one to the right and one to the left, so it is three stories, but it's not confusing. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. We're happy having my mom there."

"Brookdale Medical Center Kingsley is a nice and clean place. It was very bright looking, and there were a lot of windows for the sun to come in. They have movie nights, cards, and an activity room. They do go out as well. If I had to put my cousin anywhere, I would put her there. "

"I didn't actually tour Brookdale Hamilton Wolfe. I met with the administrator and she was very kind and very, very helpful. She gave me a description of all the services. It was a very good interaction and communication. My mother-in-law has a medical issue and even though they had a memory care unit, she didn't qualify for that level of care. We met in the administrator's office, and it was a very nice setting. When I walked in, the staff seemed very friendly. The administrator was very informative. Overall, I had a good experience, except my mother-in-law did not qualify for that level of care. The place was very nice. I thought it was very clean, neat, and looked very comfortable. They had a one-person bedroom and a bedroom with a roommate. They offer arts and crafts and exercising. The thing that I liked about what the director said was they can tailor some of the hobbies or activities to each person, so I thought that was very good. The grounds were well kept. It was a nice-looking building. It had a nice yard, and greenery, and shrubs. The exterior was very pretty, and the interior as well was very nice. I walked into the building and I went through the COVID check for safety. They took my temperature and I signed in. I felt very comfortable with being greeted. The administrator told me what their program was about, so it was a nice communication. I had a nice experience there."
