Assisted Living Communities in Cibolo, TX

"The staff at Camino Real is very friendly. The atmosphere is very homey and very comforting. The rooms are large. There's plenty of outdoor and indoor space. I liked the way the dining room is set up for the meals and the things that the residents have like mini-fridges in their room for their own personal use (if they want snacks or sodas or whatever, they can keep some in their room). They also have their own microwaves in their room. It's not a full kitchen, but that makes it very people-friendly, even for somebody who needs assisted living, and I think my friend would be very comfortable and very happy once she's there. Because I visited on a weekend, there's not as much of a staff, but the people that were there were very helpful when they explained about their routines and their activities and all the things that are available as they took me around. You can work in their garden if you want to or do art if you want to. There's so much for them to do. They are not just sitting around with nothing to do and nothing to think about. From looking at their menu and just smelling the food, I think the food is great. I am very, very pleased and very, very impressed with the entire facility and the staff."

"I liked Brookdale New Braunfels a lot. I enjoyed it. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was and how nice the people were. I liked the model that they showed me and what my mother's living quarters would look like. The staff was very friendly and seemed very nice. Everybody seemed happy there. However, some of their air-conditioning ducts didn't have vents on them for some reason. I don't know if they're cleaning them or what, but they did not have vents on them. That's the only complaint I have. They need a little touchup paint on a couple of doors, but that was it."

"My mother moved into Carol Ann's Home in December. It's a very clean place. It looks relatively new, so it's very well kept up. They do an excellent job there. They don't have a lot of residents, so attention is given to everybody. Her room is fine for what she needs. It's a little room with a hospital bed that they provide. It has a little bit of a wardrobe for her clothes and personal stuff, a TV, and chairs. I've also brought a few little things from home. For her right now, their memory care program is fine. The residents get together in the main lobby room, and they have little arts and crafts. They want my mom to socialize with the other people there. They kind of make them try to attend all the breakfast, lunch and dinner, which I think is very good. The staff has been great. They have a lot because it's a 24-hour shift. I think I've met everybody and I love them. The food seems good. They've got an in-house chef. "

"I love the staff, and I like that it was kind of a home. There's a nice grassy courtyard out at the back. I would rate them highly because of the staff and the activities. They offered me a meal, I saw it and it looked good. They have a nice back porch with rocking chairs and a nice yard to walk around in. The cleanliness was good. It was kind of far away for us, but we felt like my relative was very well taken care of there, and happy."

"The Inn at Los Patios is very comfortable, very pretty, and very accommodating. It also has a better deal than the other places. The fees at the other places were horrible. I moved to their independent living community. My apartment is big, totally furnished with kitchen appliances, stoves, ice makers, and everything. They're all brand new. They have different varieties of rooms, so I picked this one out. It has a patio enclosed with screens to keep the bugs out, so my dog can go outside. They provide two meals a day. I love the place, it's really beautiful inside, and they're redoing everything. They even put in a kitchen garden facility that we can all use for barbecues."

"I've toured Brookdale Oakwell, it was very nice and everyone was very courteous. The only thing is I have to prepare in advance for my mom to have the appropriate furniture because we need to provide that. Now she has furniture, but it wouldn't be appropriate for the little room that they're going to put her in. They showed me the meal schedule that they have. The room has a sitting area, a kitchen area, its own private bath area, and a twin bed section with a nightstand and a dresser. They had an exercise area, they had very nice patio-type areas where the presidents can go out and visit when it's nice weather. It was a nice place and the staff was very nice and they're very transparent about everything. The facility was very clean."

"I toured Rio Terra Retirement. I liked the atmosphere and the cleanliness of the place. I saw a lot of residents out and about, and they had friendly and knowledgeable staff. The package included meals depending on what you signed up for. It had a lot of outdoor spaces. They had a lot of activities available for the residents. There was a big courtyard and a big area out front where people could sit."

"My mom is a resident of Brookdale Maltsberger. She has been there since February of last year and she loves it. She loves the social aspect of it. She has a nice private room with a little living area and kitchenette. The staff is wonderful and helps her and brings her out to do activities. They have the meals, a kitchen, and a dining area, and she's happy with her meals. The staff has just been wonderful to her."

"Discovery Village Stone Oak has been bought out and they've improved a lot. They've redecorated everything, so the place looks beautiful. It's a good place. I would recommend it. It's got about four floors and it's not an overwhelming amount of residents, just about the right amount to where they can give attention. They've got workers on each floor that come in. They can assist with whatever needs according to what different people need. They're friendly and attentive. They're not perfect, of course, they make mistakes sometimes, but they quickly try to rectify. The place is kept clean. The food is good and nutritious. They give them medication. They also provide activities. I would like it if the activities were a bit more than what they are, but they try. They had watermelon outside. For fiesta, they brought in some dancers, and that was really good. Everybody seemed to really enjoy that. I would like it if they would play some oldies but goodies music and engage them in conversation. They set up the table real nice and put orange juice and everything, but all the ladies are just sitting there looking at each other until they're served. Other than that, it's good. I've been overcharged a couple of times and still trying to rectify that. I would like some consistency on the billing. I would recommend them. They've been loyal, they're attentive to my mom, and I'm not disappointed that I'm there or anything. I'm happy we're there. The staff is really good. I would like it if they would have different food options. They keep spinning the same food over and over again. I've gotten bored with it, but it's delicious. My digestive system actually works better when I've eaten with Mom there a few times, so I know it's good for her, and I'm happy. There's a lot of people that have memory loss and they will put up signs in the elevator and everywhere and even bring it to the room telling them there's an activity. It was posted and everything, but unless they're reminded at the time, like knock on their door and say, "Hey, we got this going on. Would you like to join us?" They won't remember. They're creative, but they're not engaging them in enough conversation with each other. I think it's high priced, just like everything else is. I would still recommend them, and they're a good place to be in."

"I toured Sodalis at Stone Oak. They showed me the memory care. The apartments were small. The tour was good. The staff was very caring. Everybody knew everyone's name and greeted everyone kindly. It was very clean. We did go outside. It was nice out there and they had tables and chairs."

"My wife moved into Brookdale Hollywood Park. It's a very nice establishment. It's home-like. It's like private apartments. We're pleased with that. She has a private space, and she has three meals there, and other opportunities. She's very inactive physically and spends most of the time in the room, and we are pleased with the way the staff takes care of her. They offer art classes and film and television viewing. The staff is supportive, competent, and present when needed. The facility is clean and well-maintained and seems fresh. I'm pleased with her being in that environment."

"Franklin Park Alamo Heights was very well run and beautifully maintained. It was an excellent facility. The staff was excellent. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-maintained. I was very favorably impressed with Franklin Park, and I could picture myself there. I am concerned that it does not have skilled nursing. They just recommend a nursing home, if you need it. For me, that's not what I want. I want to be able to know that I'd be cared for on that campus. I want to know that I wouldn't have to scramble to find a place that would admit me, if I needed skilled nursing."

"I moved to Independence Hill Retirement Community in San Antonio. I'm in their independent living community, and I like it very much. It has quite a list of activities that are available. The food is much better than the previous community that I was in. I have a lot more room. It's nice to have a full kitchen, my own washer and dryer, and an outdoor space with a small patio. The facilities here are very clean and well-kept. The staff is very congenial and very helpful. I enjoy being on the wake-up call list. In other words, they check on me once a day to make sure I'm doing all right. There are day trips to different activities and events in the area, and dining out, where they take you out to different restaurants. I still drive, so I don't need to get help going to appointments and things, but I do know that it's available, too. They have a theater, a pool, two different libraries, arts and crafts activities, and their own beauty salon. There are a lot of different amenities here, plus there's a home health care agency that has an office in the main building. They provide two meals a day, and then there is an option to take a third meal if you pay an extra fee. The grounds are very nice, with mature trees and flowers. It's much more pleasant than where I was before this."

"I toured Franklin Park Sonterra. The community is beautiful, and it has multiple amenities that would make people feel very comfortable. The residents that were there were very friendly and welcoming. And they had a lot of security features that were also very nice. It looks like a wonderful property. The staff were very nice and very helpful. I liked their apartments. They were very spacious as well as suited for senior living. They had modern appliances. They had everything that would make all the conveniences and make living very easy for your loved ones."
