"I have visited my friend several times at Pinnacle at Eden Hill. The best thing about it is it's clean. They have meals and they also have games. They have a library. It's an old facility, and they have definitely been around a while. My friend thinks it's a good place to be. I've met several of the residents because they sit out on the porch and in the day room."

"My sister and I have been very pleased with the care our mom has received at Sundance Inn. This is her third month at the facility. I feel badly for others who have had negative experiences; however, we have found every staff member, from the admissions department to the total care staff, to be kind, attentive, happy and helpful...even when I know that mom, bless her heart, hasn't been the most pleasant resident to deal with. The reality is that most facilities suffer to some extent due to staff shortage and high turnover rates. The steady staff we have interacted with for nearly three months has gone above and beyond to create a bond with us, as well as our mom, and we are grateful for their love and care. "

"My sister is at Kirkwood Manor. The place looks very nice and clean, and it does not have any odor. I've been in some that are really bad. My sister was not happy when she was put in a 14-day quarantine, but I know it is for her safety as well as for the other patients. She does feel like they answer quickly enough, and she worries if she has an emergency. The staff has always been very nice when I go there. As a matter of fact, they're a little overly nice which makes me kind of uneasy to be honest with you. They seem to have our best interest in mind, but I don't know. Maybe it is just me. I just expect too much. They seem to be short-staffed. Sometimes I'll ask questions and they don't know what I am talking about. I take down names. One time I said, "Well, you know Marie is supposed to be the supervisor there." They said "No, the supervisor is so and so." I think it was a gentleman. I said "What about Daniella? She was the receptionist" and they said "I don't know her. " That is when I asked them if they even communicate. I know they say she works this shift and I work that shift, but surely they must cross paths at one time or another. I had to get my sister a cellphone because I had the hardest time trying talk to her on the phone that belonged to the facility. Her care seems to be good, and the staff is very nice. I guess it is just in my old age, I have become suspicious of people. They are just like overly, overly nice. The staff being overly nice and not quite informed, just makes me uneasy. My sister is happy there, though. Her room is very small, and they got two people to the room. When you first walk in, there is a restroom to the left-hand side and a closet to the right-hand side. It belongs to both residents in the that room. It makes it inconvenient for my sister when she is trying to sleep, and the other person is doing stuff over in that side. She is closer to the door where the restroom and the closet are at. Sometimes the lady is up in the middle of the night and it disturbs my sister, but she is learning to live with it. They can both have a dresser in there, and they can both have their own TV. She has a little nightstand and right now that is all she has because I have not taken her dresser to her. I've never taken a tour. It seems like something is always going on, and I cannot go in there which I do not like. I do not like that I have to make an appointment to visit. I think a nursing home should be open at all times. I think I should be able to visit whenever I want to, without letting them know ahead of time because I know what happens if you let them know ahead of time - they clean up stuff. I know they have bingo, craft sessions, and stuff like that on different days. They give them a chart every month to let them know what is going on. Every once in a while, they have Facetime where you can through to facility phone and talk Facetime with relatives. The reason we got our sister a phone is so we could do it whenever we wanted to. I have not really seen much. I go in the front door and they lead me to her room and that is it. I've seen the lobby and it looks nice clean. As you walk, the reception is to the right. Walking a little further, there is a lobby, where you can sit down. Walk a little further to the left, there is a restroom. Then you walk further in and there is the activity room or the cafeteria. If I go to the left, I go to her room. And that is all I have seen. I may request a tour, but it seems like there is never enough people to be able to request that. My sister is not very happy about the food."

"Dad wound up in rehab for a week at Legend Oaks Healthcare And Rehabilitation New Br. The facility was nice and clean. The staff was friendly. There were two to a room, with each one having a bathroom. They had a very good outdoor enclosed area for them to sit, which is one of his main things because he likes to go outside. What I did not like was the reluctancy of the CNA to help get them clean and showered when they are resistant. They have dementia, they're difficult patients, and sometimes you have to be persistent and come back and come back again, and that wasn't happening, so I had to go in and shower him. The physical therapy evaluator was wonderful. She tried to get him to walk with her and use the walker because he hadn't used the walker. The facility overall was a good facility, but the CNA lacked of wanting to assist them. They had a church service on Sunday and we all attended there together. They have a game in their eating space. They have a clothing locker, and for the clients who didn't have a lot of clothing and were probably there long term, the girls came in and said, "Hey, do you need a blanket? Here's a blanket." The meal was pretty decent. He was on a mechanical sauce, and everything was cut up really well. I would give the OT/PT people a five. I don't know what the cost was because he was fully covered by his insurance plan."

"My mother-in-law is in Autumn Winds. Her room is clean, she doesn't participate in too much, but they have activities there. The care they provide is good. The staff is great. It was family owned before it was bought out. I liked the atmosphere, and I thought they're going to change things, but they haven't changed things, and that's good."

"My aunt has been at Walnut Springs. During the pandemic, I didn't have a great deal of opportunity to check them out completely, but they seem to be much better than the last place. The staff seemed very nice and very competent. I haven't seen their food, but she seems to like it. She was underweight when she went in, but she is eating it, so I'm happy with the food. Her window looks out onto a parking lot, and I can't even hang her bird feeder out there, but these are old buildings, so they work with what they got. They have activities, but she is not a joiner, and she doesn't do that. I got to say that these people, even though everybody is vaccinated, my aunt is vaccinated, and all the staff are vaccinated, they are still acting with the highest precautions."

"My mom is in Cypress Healthcare and Rehabilitation. They think very highly about the staff. The staff is caring, they care about the patients. They're really good about notifying me if something happens like when my mom fell, and they made sure that I was aware and family members were aware. Then they continued to check on her that same afternoon to make sure, and they gave us a lot of good updates. They go into her room and take all the equipment for the therapy that they need that day. That's all the activities she's doing right now. They have good things here, and there's also a living center on one side of the hall. They have good equipment."

"My mom was in rehab at Regent Care Center Of San Marcos. They kept the place nice and clean. The layout was very good too. They seemed to have the amount of the staff that they need. The staff was good, and the care was good too. The dining area was well organized and clean. The food was good too. My mom is not a very social person, but she did enjoy doing their crafts. They also tried to get her involved. They have games and they have church services, which meant a lot to my mom."

"My mom has been in Guadalupe Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. It's really full, and she has her own room, but she pays over $4,000 a month. She pays a lot. The staff members are all nice. I know sometimes they have staffing problems, but most of the staff there has stayed there for as long as I've known them. She doesn't like the food. The facility is always clean and they have activities all the time. They always bring animals to the facility, not just dogs and cats, but different animals like llamas, horses, donkeys, and snakes. They had a Thanksgiving dinner for the families, and I have been there for that, and they let you in to have birthday parties in their family room for the family members of the people that live there. They also do bingo. She just had a regular room and it looks like a regular nursing home. She has a couple of closets, the sink, the bathroom where she gets her shower, and her bed. There's nothing special about it. "

"My mother is a resident of TruCare Living Centers Selma. They're giving her the services that she needs, which right now is pretty much everything. They help her change her clothes and they are giving her some rehab, so I'm pretty satisfied with it right now. She's in a semi-private room. She shares it with another lady and it's going well. Nice and warm. The accommodations are comfortable. They do have activities. Like the other day with the Super Bowl, they had a little Super Bowl party for them with some food. They have a TV room, and they also have movie days."

"My mother has been at Advanced Rehabilitation and Healthcare of Live Oak for a couple of weeks now. So far, the staff has been attentive and incredibly compassionate to her needs. They have activities available, but she hasn't been involved in anything yet. They provide physical and speech therapy. The facility itself is very clean. She has a private room, and it's perfectly lovely."

"This is the third time my wife has been in Heartland of San Antonio. She likes everybody and the therapist, and they really like her. We're happy with them. She was in the hospital, and Peter, the manager, came to visit her over the weekend. We're trying to get her on Medicaid, and Nancy of the business office has really been a big help getting the forms filled out and helping me trying to get all of it together. We had chicken a la king, Mexican food, and a Sloppy Joe which was good. They have menus, and they have a choice of 2 different meals each. They have sing-along and bingo."

"My husband is currently staying in San Marcos Rehabilitation & Health Care. I'm not happy at all with him being in the memory care unit; They are locked down for two weeks because they had a staff person test positive for COVID, so patients are in quarantine. It's an older facility, and I was very unhappy with the room he's in. The furniture was ancient, and the whole hallway smelled of urine. I don't know how often the housekeeping might be working on that, but they do have housekeeping in there most of the time. The staff is helpful. There have been a couple of incidents where I call at least 30 minutes ahead of time to make sure he is cleaned and bathed or showered and changed. There are incontinence issues, so I make sure to tell them, to make sure they have a brief on him. There are more than several incidents where they did not do all of the above. I was not very happy because he did have some accidents out in the different visitor sections where there were other visitors present. They receive three meals and two snacks. In his hallway, outside is a little living room area with a TV in there. They do have a fairly new social activities director; they were doing a balloon volleyball. Medicaid is paying for his care, at this point, I am not out of pocket on any money."

"My mother was in several nursing homes in which she almost died several times due to extremely poor care and coordination btween hospice and the nursing home. After yet another hospitalization and near-death we moved her to Texan Nursing Home where she has lived for one year. They provide excellent care and are more like a family than the other places. It is not nearly as pretty a facility as the other places, but Mother loves it and they work very hard to keep her that way. They have bent over backwards for her comfort and needs. I highly recommend this facility. "

"Before moving to The Army Residence Community, we toured seven other like facilities from Florida to Texas. This community is by far the best value for the money spent than the others we visited. The staff is first class, the food is the best we have found in like facilities, the variety of living options from apartments to condos of various types, offers residents many options to call home. Facilities and resident-centered activities are in abundance. From the swimming pool to the first-class fitness center to the on-site rehab center, and an abundance of activities, residents have great opportunities for living a healthful and enjoyable lifestyle. We've lived here for over five years and wouldn't live anywhere else."
