"We visited the assisted living side of New Haven Assisted Living & Memory Care - Floresville for my friend. It's really nice and very clean. I wouldn't mind living there if I had to. The lady there was very friendly when she first thought that my friend was looking to stay there. When my friend did not get back to her, though, she wasn't that open anymore. When I called again, it was very difficult to get a hold of somebody, and the phone calls were never returned when I left a message. Everybody has their own room. The person moving in can decorate it any way they want, but there's a limit on the size of furniture that you take in there because then it'll be too crowded. It was very nice, though. The kitchen and everything looked really clean and very nice. Everything was well explained to my friend about the laundry, and that if they needed to give her her medications, there was an extra charge. They had somebody coming in to do ladies' hair, a salon-type of thing. My friend asked about the food, and they told her that if you have a specific diet, then it's your responsibility to provide for those things. The residents have an option to go into the little eating area to eat whatever it is that they're fixing. If you have other likes or dislikes, like in my friend's situation, she says that she can only eat Eggland's Best eggs, and that's when they told her she would have to provide that for herself. It's not a very big place. I think they have some sort of activities, but I don't really remember. It's not something that stood out as really great. The lady there was very understanding. When my friend started crying, she was very patient with her and was talking to her, taking her time, and walking her through this whole thing. She was really, really good at that."

"Blue Skies was very nice but did not fit our needs because they did not allow pets in the building, although you can visit them in other areas. The food was very good. The apartments were small but nice. "

"My mother will be moving into Highland Gardens Koval's Assisted Living. It's beautiful. It's very quiet. It's small and very private. Almost every resident gets one-on-one care. The staff during the tour was wonderful and very helpful. She's a listener. She listened to my whole story about my mom's history and asked for details, like, for instance, allergies, what she likes to do for enjoyment, and what interests her. It was a private home-style dining area, and all the food is homemade. They check with every resident to not include any allergies that they have. They have board games and interactive games. They have two television areas and they have a quiet room. I didn't taste the food, but the residents were enjoying it."
