"Adante Independent Living was beautiful and elegant. It was like staying at a 5-star hotel. They've got lots of common areas that were very well decorated. They had outdoor patio furniture, a fireplace, and a beautiful dining room. The food looked fantastic. All the common areas looked wonderful. The staff was wonderful. They had a beautiful library with a fireplace. They would take you on outings and appointments. The apartments were all done in granite. The bathrooms were granite. They put in these really big kitchens but left zilch for closet space."

"Solea Alamo Ranch was very nice. They had a lot of activities. They didn't provide food for their residents there. The staff who assisted us with the tour was very nice and very sweet. The common spaces were very beautiful, and the room was beautiful."

"I thought Madison Estates was very nice. I wouldn't mind living there myself. It's a little bit of distance to walk from the entrance to the actual park, but it's nice and very clean. The staff, I don't recall her name, but she was nice. She had no problem answering our questions and taking us around. We saw a swimming pool, and they have a little exercise area with machines. I did see some of the residents that were there. We saw the dining area, and it was nice."

"Watercrest at Alamo Ranch had a good presentation and everything was right, except for the price. The dining area and food were great. I saw a pool, a gym, and a crafts room. The apartments looked fine."

"I like my tour of the Emerald Oaks, and the staff I liked the best. They didn't have a pool, but we probably would have gone there except for the fact that they did not have any room. The employees were very friendly, they were just like family. We've tried the food once, their iced tea was one of the best but the food could be a bit better. In terms of the facilities, they were the best of everybody that we looked at because they had everything. They had a lot of organized activities and they were very excited about them. We talked to the people there while having lunch, and they were excited about the place. They enjoyed living there because there is a lot to do and the people were very friendly. They had an amazing theater, it was like going to an actual theater. They also had a nice dining area, but I didn't see much courtyard space or outside area. It's located close enough to many things, it's just a hop, skip, and jump to wherever."

"The Inn at Westover Hills was very clean and very organized. The staff was very welcoming, very receptive, and willing to help and show us around the facility. They were really good at it. Everybody was getting together in one of the meeting rooms. They had a recreation room, a workout facility, and a hairstyling place, all those little things that you kind of have to go running around the city of San Antonio to find. It's kinda like a one-stop shop. Everybody was really nice, very accommodating, and very willing to answer questions. The other advantage is that you have at least three hospitals on Highway 151. It's all very close, very convenient, and my daughter lives in that area as well, so if I get sick or if something ever happens, it's easy access for them."

"I toured Franklin Park Alamo Heights. They were very professional. Our tour was very well-done from the apartments, the assisted living, and all different phases of care. The staff person that gave the tour was very knowledgeable and very friendly. The apartment was very clean and very economy-driven; I liked it. I thought that the facility was well-kept and well-lit. Some people in the independent living asked me if I was there for a tour. When I said yes, they said they love it there. I saw their exercise room, theater room, the kitchen, and workout room. They have an art project room and a mechanical room. All the things that the residents do and are provided by that community are really well done."

"The Forum at Lincoln Heights was nice and clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I didn’t see very many residents out. The rooms were clean and comparable to others. There was a variety of rooms that you could choose from. "

"I felt The Waterford at Thousand Oaks was the homiest. My mom liked the feel of the facility. All the apartments were within the same building so that you had easy access to all, like the restaurants and the other rooms. Also, the staff were very nice. They were very friendly to the residents, which is nice to see. We just looked at two-bedroom apartments and Mom liked them, too. The thing that mom didn't like about it though was that it just had a very small kitchenette, which included just a refrigerator, a microwave, and a sink, but it did not have anywhere to cook for yourself."

"I went to The Inn at Los Patios. Good people, older community. The people were friendly. It's a secluded place. We had a positive experience. They have a yard. And then they had patios. So you had a patio with your balcony with your place. The staff was excellent and professional."

"I did a tour of Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs. They have a larger facility that includes all levels of care for your loved one, regardless of what you're looking for. They have a beautiful campus; I think it's on thirty-four acres. The lady I met with was very informative and very happy. She knew all the residents we came in contact with and spoke to every one of them. She seems like a very informed and friendly individual. They just seemed to be happy. I didn't see anything going on at the time because I was there right before lunch. They have restaurant-style dining, and they also have a bistro. I saw people eating at both places. The food looked good, but I didn't taste it. They have large outdoor spaces that are very nicely manicured. They have a deer feeder that draws deer in the evenings, and the residents like to observe them. They had multiple outdoor patio venues where people could gather, and they are all shaded. It was very nice. They have an outdoor pool that is enclosed for water aerobics, which they have twice a week. Those were the outside amenities that I observed. They they have transportation to Walmart and HEB, which is our grocery store, all the time. They do have activities on and off campus; at least, that's what is mentioned in their amenities list. She showed me a one-bedroom that was around 800 square feet, and I believe she showed me a two-bedroom, two-bath as well."

"My dad stayed at New Hope Assisted Living. They have been wonderful. They were very caring, and they took care of my dad very well. The staff was wonderful, informative, very helpful, and kind. It was like being in a home. I didn't feel like my dad was in a nursing home. The facility was very clean. Everything was organized very well. My dad was bedbound, but I saw them being very involved with the other residents. The experience was wonderful. It's not easy to take care of other people's families, but they do it very well."

"I looked at LIV at Boerne Hills on a weekend. The tour was pretty much cut and dry. They don't offer any meals since it's independent living. It had a swimming pool and a workout room. The amenities seemed nice. There was parking, and it was in a nice area of town. It was good. It's just that going there on a weekend, there really wasn't a lot of staff there. It was just one young woman that was able to show me around. There was a couple of things she didn't know, but I think she was doing the very best that she could."
