"Everything at Adante Independent Living was perfect. It was sparkling clean. Everybody looked very happy. Their apartments were nice. They had a lot of common rooms, and they were all nice. The staff who gave us the tour was very thorough and very good. Their food menu offered a lot of flexibility and they looked very healthy."

"I toured Solea Alamo Ranch. The people are very friendly and they have a lot of activities. I felt very warm and welcome. The rooms are very well laid out and the dining area is very roomy and very beautiful, too."

"I toured Madison Estates. I saw the beautiful fountain, and it did not look like what I expected a facility like that to look like, because it was so beautiful. I was very impressed. I liked the fact that it had a swimming pool. It has a great big living room with a fireplace and a library nearby. It was outside the dining room. It just did not look like the place where she lives in San Angelo, so I was very impressed. Doug was wonderful. He answered all my questions, showed me everything, and we even stopped to speak to some people playing games. Then we stopped in at a Bible study, and he knew the dog of one of the residents. He showed me how they had a salad bar and all the different tables and chairs where people were served restaurant-style. The receptionist was very nice as well."

"The Landon Ridge at Alamo Ranch's apartments have a full kitchen, and you could use a washer-dryer in the apartment. They have a very nice layout. I looked at a one-bedroom. It's a good size. You could fit a king-size bed in there if you wanted. All the apartments there had patios, so that was nice. I looked at the dining area, which was very nice. The meals looked pretty good, so that was good. They have snack areas and places where you can sit and relax. I looked at their calendar, and they have all sorts of different activities, book clubs, bridge, and movies. They have a theater, a craft and arts room, and a library. It's very nice. I met a few of the residents there, and everybody is friendly. The whole facility looked nice and well laid out. I thought this was the best of the ones I had seen, and the pricing was good, too. I was impressed. The staff who gave the tour was very nice. She showed me everything. She was impressive. The grounds were impressive, too. The menus looked good. They had a nice courtyard area and everything. It's pet-friendly, so that's another good thing."

"I toured Emerald Oaks. It was very good. It's a smaller community. It is all in one building, and I liked the apartment I saw. They also have lots of different activities to keep you going. It's a newer place, and has three meals a day. I did have a meal there, and it was very good. The people are very accommodating, nice, and friendly, and I enjoyed that. At first, I thought that's where I wanted to be, but it's more expensive and not quite as much character to the apartment."

"I toured The Inn at Westover Hills. The manager who sat in the front office was very, very friendly and attentive. She had already sent me an email, so she had a few days to take care of, but she was able to give me a tour very quickly. We walked through the facilities, and everything was shown to me: the game room, storage, parking, and all the amenities they had. She answered every question that I could come up with, and she was able to answer all my questions. The facility is very nice. I was very impressed with the facility. Even though she had some residents walk in while we were talking and communicating, she was just very attentive to everybody, and I like that. She was very personable. And also, the site manager was excellent. She was very personable."

"Franklin Park Alamo Heights was very well run and beautifully maintained. It was an excellent facility. The staff was excellent. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-maintained. I was very favorably impressed with Franklin Park, and I could picture myself there. I am concerned that it does not have skilled nursing. They just recommend a nursing home, if you need it. For me, that's not what I want. I want to be able to know that I'd be cared for on that campus. I want to know that I wouldn't have to scramble to find a place that would admit me, if I needed skilled nursing."

"My sister was a resident of The Waterford at Thousand Oaks. It was a studio apartment. It was just a one-room apartment with a bathroom and a kitchenette. It just had a microwave and a small refrigerator, and a sink. It was very inexpensive. It was very nice, and housekeeping was once a week. I had one meal there, and it was very good. It has lots of activities going on. It was just a one-building facility, and two stories. People were very friendly, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Anytime I needed something from them, they were very accommodating to me in reaching my sister. So, that was very helpful."

"The Inn at Los Patios is very comfortable, very pretty, and very accommodating. It also has a better deal than the other places. The fees at the other places were horrible. I moved to their independent living community. My apartment is big, totally furnished with kitchen appliances, stoves, ice makers, and everything. They're all brand new. They have different varieties of rooms, so I picked this one out. It has a patio enclosed with screens to keep the bugs out, so my dog can go outside. They provide two meals a day. I love the place, it's really beautiful inside, and they're redoing everything. They even put in a kitchen garden facility that we can all use for barbecues."

"Heritage Place of Boerne didn't have as many staff members, and they didn't seem to be as professional as the other place. However, when I went to one of their functions, I was very happy with the place. The food was good. The people were nice, and it wasn't quite as expensive. It's a much smaller place. There were only 50 rooms and the other one was three times the size. However, the rooms were small. If you spend a lot of extra money, you could get one with a little kitchen, so they weren't as nice that way. All in all, the building was very clean and beautiful, and I would be happy to live there."

"I did a tour of Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs. They have a larger facility that includes all levels of care for your loved one, regardless of what you're looking for. They have a beautiful campus; I think it's on thirty-four acres. The lady I met with was very informative and very happy. She knew all the residents we came in contact with and spoke to every one of them. She seems like a very informed and friendly individual. They just seemed to be happy. I didn't see anything going on at the time because I was there right before lunch. They have restaurant-style dining, and they also have a bistro. I saw people eating at both places. The food looked good, but I didn't taste it. They have large outdoor spaces that are very nicely manicured. They have a deer feeder that draws deer in the evenings, and the residents like to observe them. They had multiple outdoor patio venues where people could gather, and they are all shaded. It was very nice. They have an outdoor pool that is enclosed for water aerobics, which they have twice a week. Those were the outside amenities that I observed. They they have transportation to Walmart and HEB, which is our grocery store, all the time. They do have activities on and off campus; at least, that's what is mentioned in their amenities list. She showed me a one-bedroom that was around 800 square feet, and I believe she showed me a two-bedroom, two-bath as well."

"My dad stayed at New Hope Assisted Living. They have been wonderful. They were very caring, and they took care of my dad very well. The staff was wonderful, informative, very helpful, and kind. It was like being in a home. I didn't feel like my dad was in a nursing home. The facility was very clean. Everything was organized very well. My dad was bedbound, but I saw them being very involved with the other residents. The experience was wonderful. It's not easy to take care of other people's families, but they do it very well."

"I moved to Boerne LIVIN. The people are very nice. The staff is very nice and very helpful. The facility is very clean and very nice. I feel good about it and the ladies are very nice. The sizes of the rooms are very small. They have bingo. They have a room full of games."
