I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad has moved into Park Place Retirement. He has been there for two weeks now. Everything about it is great from what I can see so far. His room is spacious. It's got two windows, a large refrigerator, and lots of storage. It has three closets in it. It's the best bang for your buck. So far, so good. The director is very nice and very accommodating. I don't have anything bad to say. My dad seems to be pretty pleased with the food thus far. The dining area is a nice size. They have a lot of activities, too.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother lived at Park Place for 21 months in Assisted Living. In that time her medication was rarely given regularly. I found it on the counter at 1:15 pm one day. (She has dementia) Once I went out of town and had a friend check on her and she had not gotten out of bed in two days and there were six meals piled up on the counter with 6 drinks. (I have photos of these incidents.) She found her in bed severely dehydrated. They kept promising that things would get better to just give it time. The final straw was when the tornado went through and I got there early the morning after to find out that my mom who requires oxygen 24/7 for COPD, had been without it for 14 hours, when other patients had been brought oxygen tanks. There is no excuse for this level of ongoing neglect. We brought her home after this latest incident. My grandmother and father had been in this facility years earlier and it is NOT the same level of care that they received in the past.

I liked Park Place Retirement. It was kind of dated, but I know they're going to start redoing something like the carpet and everything. It was still nice. Outside their little laundry room, they have a big open space that had a couch so you could hang out while your laundry was being done. It was nice when you walked into the place. I liked that they had a little chapel in there. Shonda was great. She was nice and welcoming. Heather, the salesperson, was also really good. Shonda seemed to really care about the residents and she was telling me what all they had done during COVID and to help the residents. It was really impressive. We walked through the dining room. It was really big. The place just didn't look too friendly, because it was so spread out and so big, but I guess that's good for people with walkers and wheelchairs. They had a barber/beauty shop, a little fitness room, and a nice outside area for the residents where they could go. A couple of times, I saw a van coming in and bringing people back from somewhere like they'd done shopping. So, they had rides around town to go to places like Walmart and things like that.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Park Place Retirement is very nice and I like it. It's a very well-run and friendly place, I'm very comfortable here. They have cards, and jigsaw puzzles and they bring in entertainment now and then too which is nice. It's so pretty that we get out and walk, so that's also a nice activity. Most of us don't drive, so they have somebody that will take us to the grocery store and doctor's appointments. The staff was very nice, they're always polite and we enjoy the good atmosphere. There's an assisted living section in addition to where I am now, and the rooms are quite nice. There's a big porch where people sit out a lot. They furnish the meal, and the food is very good. The workers are great, they are always ready to help if you needed it. Many don't want to participate in the activities, but that's up to them, there's plenty to keep everyone busy. It's as expensive as any other place is.

I visited this facility

We have been to Park Place Retirement. The apartments were a little bit larger than they were at the other facility, which I liked. They were bright. There were lots of windows, so there was a lot of sunlight. The hallways and the common areas were very dark, and I didn't care for that. Other than that, it was fine. The people there were quite nice to us. It was independent living that we visited, and we saw one bedroom. It was clean and pretty, but it was dark.

I visited this facility

I went to Park Place Retirement. They were pleasant. They had a hobby train area where guys or girls could play with trains. That caught my eye because my dad was a train hobbyist. It was several floors, and it didn't appeal to me. The person was very nice and explained more or less what they did there. They also gave a free meal if you came and participated, which I did. The food was good, and the service was good. The staff seemed very congenial, very friendly, and very open. The meal was better than most places. The dining room had tablecloths. The building was the one thing that didn't appeal to me. I just was not impressed. It had a dull color. I didn't particularly like the decorations, and I didn't like the looks of the interior.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have been a resident of Park Place Retirement since 2014. It's a very nice place, but I have no family here and I want to be near some family. They have lots of activities, but of course, Covid has stopped all of that. We have chair exercise and yoga, and I do those. They let us have gardens. I have a garden now for five years and I'm growing vegetables because I don't like the food they serve here. I'm in a 2-room apartment. The staff is wonderful. They are lovely, but. I don't like the food.

The staff at Park Place Retirement was very nice and very accommodating. It was just too expensive and the apartment was too small, but the whole place was very beautiful.

Park Place had a different feel. It made me feel like I was back in high school. They had a nice facility. The dining room was like a restaurant where you actually sat down and have your meal brought to you. The staff and room seemed to be really nice. They seemed to have different activities each evening, like on a cruise ship. They scheduled things and tried to get everybody involved. We had lunch, and the food was really good. The staff seemed pretty nice and attentive to the needs of the residents. They all ate together, not separate, which I thought was nice. They seemed to be very focused on looking after the residents. They had a hair salon, library, and a post office or mail area on site. They did not have much ground space, so walking outside was not easy.

Park Place was very nice, but my parents changed their minds. The staff was very helpful. The apartments were a good size, very bright, clean, and had lot of natural light. I know they have transportation to doctors, shopping mall, and groceries. They had a hair salon on-site. The community was pleasant, relaxing, and calm.

We had a very good experience visiting Park Place Retirement Community. The staff was nice, the food was good, and my mother received good care there. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. They had lots of activities. They had a very nice dining room. It had a real sense of community. The people did things together and were friends.

Park Place was a four-story and more like a hotel. It was very nice and clean. The grounds were well kept. The people were very friendly. They introduced us to some of the residents in the hall. Everybody there was very nice. One of the apartments they showed us belonged to a lady that was there, and she agreed to let us in to see how her apartment looked. The rooms had its own bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen was just a small kitchen, it didn't have a stove, but it had a small refrigerator. They took us to the dining area, which looked like a restaurant. They fixed three meals a day for them. They had something going and they posted on the lobby downstairs what they were going to do, and when they were going to do it. They took them shopping or to doctor's appointment. I would recommend them to others. I had a friend who would rather go there than the other one we visited.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I visited numerous places looking for a nice place for my mother. This was the ONLY one I felt comfortable with. It also offers independent living which is what we needed. It's nice to know there is an assisted living section as well for when/if the need arises for her. Staff are pleasant and she's happy she doesn't need to do any grocery shopping/cooking. There are weekly outings and special outings. A nice dining area that is well lit.

We also visited Park Place Retirement and it was fine too. They offered assisted living as well as independent living. They also had Alzhemeir's unit. I believed it was the first one I visited and I talked to a lady who kept in touch. A big plus was the fact that you don't have to sign a lease. If we moved it and we didn't like it after three or six months, we could move out.

We ate at Park Place and toured there also. The thing we liked most about Park Place was the larger rooms. It was a newer facility. The dining room was very nice and the food was delicious. We were treated very well. We couldn't ask for any better treatment.
