Cranberry Place had a very, very helpful staff. They were very caring. The food was great. I got to eat there with my father. They had all kinds of activities. They had a calendar posted in all the people's rooms of what was going on every single day and there was so much to do. It was great. There's a nice window view of the outside. They even have a garden in which they had birdhouses hung in so you can watch the birds outside, feed, and eat. It was just a very nice place. The facility was very clean. They were very proactive on COVID, wearing masks and gloves and testing people. They had movie days, bingo, small exercises, and games like Name That Tune. My father's insurance ran out and they were not VA-contracted, but they were very helpful in finding us a place quickly that was VA-contracted. They found that place for me in less than 24 hours. So thanks to them. They did the homework for me to find someplace to take my father.

Except For A Few Aides And Nurses. Most Of The Staff Did Not Appear ,To Have The Right Disposition For Their Current Position. My 24 Days At UPMC Cranberry Place Were Awful. If You Care About Your Family Member Do Not Put Them There. The State Should Do A Suprise Inspection.

My mother was a patient at the facility for several weeks. She had some difficult health problems and the Nurse manager along with rehab, dietitian and other staff members came together to care for my mother in a team approach to give her good care. While not all care givers where responsive, my mother had several nurses and aides that where responsive and caring. Staff kept the family informed and we felt that they truely cared. Meals were fair, facility was clean and upbeat. My mother did not participate in activities but there seemed to be programs and things for residents to be involed in.

Cranberry Place is nice. It has everything that somebody would need. It has an activity room, a game room where people can go to, a barbershop, a hairdresser, Sunday worship, and a snack station room where you can get drinks and there's vending machines. It's clean and people seem friendly. My dad is in a shared room. The size is OK, but they could be a little bit bigger. The workers are nice and they take good care of the residents. They have a daily packet of information that comes with a list of all their activities all day. There's puzzles in there and a couple of stories to read.

The administrator is very poor, she does nothing to better the place since she has started. The little that's left of the aides are over worked and it's mainly agency who do nothing to help. The nurses have nasty attitudes except a few. The patients look awful and the care at this place is very poorly handled. I have walked past residents rooms and the aides are changing the pt. and the door is wide open and curtain is not pulled. Everything about this place should be shut down. Nothing about it was in the positive. State really needs to come in and wipe out the whole team and start over.

I visited Cranberry Place. I would love to be able to transfer my relative there, but they don't have any openings. They are wonderful. In fact, my neighbor's mom is there right now. It's a shame none of us can visit right now, but that place is amazing. My husband died 3 years ago and I have a new man in my life. His mom died there 2 years ago, and he was 104 years old. They loved it there, and I have been there too because I've volunteered there one time to do things for the people all the time. It was wonderful. I wasn't able to try the food, but my man was, and he would go up there once a week. He would eat with his mom, and he always loved it, they always loved it. Everyone there was wonderful. You can go there for a rehab. My aunt was there; my neighbor was there. When you talk about rehab, these people are viable, most of the time maybe they've had a broken hip or a broken leg, if you could line them up and talk to every one of them, they would say, "Oh, we'll come back here anytime." It was wonderful. My neighbor was there last year and he loved it. It's lovely, and it's all one floor. The dining room where they eat is lovely. They have activities, and we had a big party there once, invited different restaurants, and brought food for the people. These things are so hard now because of COVID, but when they can, it was just amazing.

I think this place was marvelous. I had never been in rehab before. I am 78 years old. I also was here during COVID-19. This means that everyone had their own private room but no visitors. I thought the nurses were excellent. I thought the nurses’ assistants were excellent. I do agree that both Kasie the nurse and Stephen the nurses’ aide are exceptional. I thought that the food was wonderful! Both my physical therapist and occupational therapist were also top-notch. I had broken my leg when I arrived. They were very accommodating while I was in much pain. Yet, they were wise enough to let me become more independent as I gained more use of my leg. I would also like to note that when I got home I was excellently prepared for the stairs and different activities that I was required to master. Lastly, I simply have great respect for their positive atmosphere. I never heard a patient, a nurse, a nurse’s aide, PT, OT or any other professional talk derogatory about anyone else there.

I love this short-term place. This is the second time I have had to be at this facility. The nuse(kacee) is a very pleasant person to be around. I chose this place again because of her. It's nice that she also remembered me from when I was here a few years ago. I highly recommend this place for anyone who needs short-term care.

I'm not sure how nurses and doctors miss signs of dehydration in a patient. The patient subsequently was admitted to the hospital with extreme low blood pressure. Nurses and the doctor did not recognize the signs??? When hospice started we were told the patient would be kept comfortable and someone forgot, yes forgot or chose not to, give the patient their medicine during the evening hours and there was extreme suffering for the patient and their family until God eased their pain. No private room for hospice and no individual care at that time. Very poor care.

Make sure you choose wisely, and do not take your loved one to Cranberry Place. Although they have a few "good nurses and aides, there are a few that are incompetent. If you want help your told they have 10 other patients and are short handed. And when your loved one is in pain this is just what you do not want to hear. If they are changing shifts and debriefing, god forbid you ring for help because you have to wait. And if dinner tray are being passed out and you have to go to the bathroom, your asked to wait. Nice. In our case the patient was left to dehydrate and was taken to the hospital, then when hospice was called in a "nurse" did not give him his meds as prescribed. As a result, instead of seeing him peaceful as I was assured, I came in and he was in horrible paid, moaning and ignored. All I can say is it was horrible. Their reply was so sorry, and we'll address the issue. That means they will do nothing. So beware, there are better nursing homes out there and UPMC Cranberry isn't one of them.

Very impressed by the caring manner with which the staff treated my father-in-law during his stay. The facility was bright and clean and there were many thoughtful amenities for the patients. We had a very positive experience at Cranberry Place and Dad felt that he was happy to be there.

My brother was admitted to Cranberry Place after being released from the hospital in April 2016. He had some special needs and the staff accommodated these needs. He felt comfortable in his environment which was a relief to me because I couldn't be there all the time. I had to call a nurse in the middle of the night to reassure my brother and she did. The nurses, aids, physical therapists and social workers were very friendly and helpful. There was a nurse named Katie who really listened to what I had to say as an advocate for my brother. She was very friendly and compassionate which made my brother's stay very comfortable. Katie was the first nurse I met when I arrived and the last person we saw when we left. It's meeting someone like Katie that determines how your love one's stay will be. I also want to mention an aid named Stephen. No matter if it's a skilled nursing facility or hospital, when a patient rings the bell, we want someone to respond to their needs. This doesn't always happen in an acceptable amount of time. But Stephen went up and beyond. When my brother rang the bell, Stephen answered right away. Stephen helped my brother with his needs and always made sure he had fresh water and gave him a snack in the evening. I felt comfortable leaving the facility knowing that Stephen was the aid on duty. As in anywhere you go there may be that one bad experience you have. It's important to address that bad experience so that all the good that is done isn't overshadowed. I had that one bad experience with an aid and immediately called the person in charge. It was addressed so the remainder of my brother's stay remained positive.

Cranberry Place seems to be going downhill. It used to offer better care. In the past year, there have been obvious cost cutting measures that are leading to shoddy care. There are fewer nurses aids to care for patients and those who are working are often with an agency, so they are not familiar with the patients or their schedules and needs. This has led to patients being left in bed or put to bed in early afternoon, so they won't be as much work for the staff. There is also less compassion and communication with family and friends of the patients. You are treated like you are bothering the staff when you have a question. It's pretty clear that they are putting profit before the patients these days. Avoid this place if you can.

If you have a choice, do not select Cranberry Place for Rehab. It’s an unfriendly facility with an indifferent staff with poor patient/family communication and planning. 1) Unless you have someone to be onsite to be an advocate for the patient, know that the staff is not focused on patient care—Don’t get me wrong, meds were given on time and wounds were dressed, but that was extent of care. Other than that, nothing---days into a stay and no “care” (i.e., getting patient out of bed or at least upright, making sure he has clean gown and sheets, and bathed (our family had to do it ourselves!). The excuse given, and yes, this was actual response from one of the staff was that she had to take are of 11 beds. This is not reasoning you want to hear from a nurse or nurse’s aide. Either Cranberry Place needs to hire more staff, or they need to find staff that can provide care. 2) If your family member would like Pastoral Care (of any denomination), know that Pastoral Care is non-existent. The “Pastoral Care” department made NO EFFORT to find out the patient’s needs, and the staff, when asked, did not know anything about how to request pastoral care, only pointed to schedule in hallway. Thus, my family member was denied Catholic Eucharist even though we REPEATEDLY asked the staff about communion. 3) And finally, if your loved one is considering this place because there is a dialysis facility on site, reconsider. The dialysis facility (on the lower level) did not adequately communicate with the discharging hospital that they could not keep the same schedule (thus, throwing off the dialysis schedule that had been established at the hospital). They took him at an ungodly hour for his treatment and the facility was described by my family member as “a dump.” Try to find a facility that takes into consideration a patient's well-being and does not consider them a bed number.

My mother was a patient on the rehab unit and the care and compassion that was shown was unremarkable. The staff was informative and friendly and attended to her every need. If I need to send her to a rehab facility again, I would send her back. The nurses were much nicer than the ones that she had in the hospital.

I had a wonderful experience at Cranberry Place. The nurses and nursing assistants were great, and truly love what they do and it shows. Dr. Scheri was the best doctor with excellent bedside manner and attended to my every need and concern. I do not have one negative thing to stay about my stay at Cranberry Place. Highly recommended!

Absolutely horrendous facility ....my father went in for rehab and within days couldn't eat or drink and advised nurse he felt like he was having seizures and they offered no assistance I rushed there from work only because my lethargic father crawled out of bed to call and tell me they weren't listening...when I got there the nurse said she didn't know what to do...I had to demand an ambulance and my father had to be hospitalized and is in worse condition ...please don't let your loved ones be treated here this place is less than stars not even 1

My father was a patient here and only for one month. I saw that he was being over medicated and not getting the care he deserved after only 2 days in this facility. He walked into this place and did not walk out. After only 3 weeks he developed a bed sore from being left in a geri chair, which is used as a restraint. He had four falls that I am aware of. I found nurses to be very uncaring and completely unable to answer any questions I would have. Apparently, his chart was never available. Met with the director of nursing, still got no answers to many questions. Finally found a place for my Dad after four weeks, but by that time his health was broke and he was unable to survive the neglect he received in this place. He had to have surgery on the massive bed sore he developed while there.. Mind you, he was ther for rehab. I would recommend if you need a place for your loved one, you look elsewhere.. I personally would never want another member of my family there..I gave a rating of one star only because to give no stars was not an option!

The administration is actingas though Cranberry Place exists for their benefit instead of the mission they claim to underwrite. The floors are scheduled for their time off instead of the best time for residents and their families. It would be easy to set up internet notification for family and friends who sign up for it....but they refuse to do so. Therefore, family members come to closed doors without notice. Training for aides/nurses are scheduled for times that they are supposed to handle patients. The patients just are preempted and don't get the care, then. If a staff member takes days off, there is no one put in their place, leaving a gap. I'm wondering if that is comment on the importance of their function? There are some good things. The food is consistent and good. The activity dept. is caring and has fun programs. The aides are caring when they are given time to care.

This facility is absolutely clueless in caring for their patients. My mother came here temporarily as she was hospitalized for two months and needed intensive physical therapy. UPMC insurance would not pay for any other facility. The nurses ignore her call bell for at least half an hour. They told her they were out of her pain medicine and she couldn't receive it until 5, when the Director of Nursing was involved they gave it to her right away. She had an ileostomy and several JP sites. When they rolled her to use the bed pan, the ileostomy bag came out of her stomach and spilled all over the place, then the nurse aide told ME to go find the nurse. Absolutely disgusted with this hell hole.

don't know what they did to my mom but she came out of that place nowhere near what she went in like. Her anxiety level got so bad that she wound up in the emergency room the first day she came back home. She began to have aniexty attacks two weeks after being in there. They wanted to keep her another week and I said "no way". We had to have her put on antidepressants and anxiety medication just to get her to calm down back at home. Kept her on painkillers over a month and gave her an atibiotic for no reason. Very dissapointed in this facility......

Cranberry Place in Cranberry Township, PA is located in the heart of the township. This facility is located right next to the UPMC Passavant Cranberry Hospital and this is convenient if a person needs to go to the hospital for care. They can have x-ray testing, scans right next door at the hospital, and it is just a walk over. There is one big concern with this facility currently. They have had many infections with patients lately. I personally would be concerned if my loved one were there and would want to see the measures and changes that they are making to prevent patients from getting any infections. Talk to the staff and see what they are dealing with every day and you may find that there isn't enough help around to take care of the residents properly.
