"I think it is the only one in East Palestine, Ohio. Covington was brand new and also very nice. We just went in and looked around, and we really didn't spend a lot of time because I think we were in a hurry, but everybody seemed very friendly and helpful. Again, it was new, it was clean, and it didn't smell. "

"It is a single floor facility. Mom has a roommate. It's a lockdown facility. She wears a bracelet and it sets off an alarm if she's near the door. They're very good with occupational and physical therapy, and adjusted her care to her needs. They're helpful with her medications and she's doing really well. They have a lot of activities for them and they have picnics. The employees provide entertainment and they have daily activities that residents participate in and go to."

"My doctor said she has heard some nice things about Sherwood Oaks. We dropped by, they gave us a tour, and I never looked at anything else. It was convenient for my children. They live in this area. It had everything I needed, and it has different levels if I would want to move on to the next level. The staff is very helpful. There are lots to do if I want to, and I am getting involved. They have a beautiful library, and I help in there. I go to a knitting class, and I joined an exercise class. The food is wonderful, and we have a menu to choose from everyday. I am in a patio home, so I have a bedroom, a living room, and a kitchen. I have another room and I am using it for dining. The security is wonderful. They walk the property, and they drive around. It's a huge facility with beautiful gardens. At night after dinner, they have programs and movies, and kids come in and sing, I'm a little bit nervous being out at night here, and I don't like to be out at night alone anyway, so I don't participate in a lot of them. "

"I have been here for more then 6 years. I am alert and oriented. I can speak for myself when I need any kind of care. I have noticed that some nurses are so intent on their medication routines that they do not pay attention to the resident's comfort level. I have also noticed that some staff members spend a lot of their time chatting to each other about their personal issues. I do not know how these things compare to what is average. "

" I think this place was marvelous. I had never been in rehab before. I am 78 years old. I also was here during COVID-19. This means that everyone had their own private room but no visitors. I thought the nurses were excellent. I thought the nurses’ assistants were excellent. I do agree that both Kasie the nurse and Stephen the nurses’ aide are exceptional. I thought that the food was wonderful! Both my physical therapist and occupational therapist were also top-notch. I had broken my leg when I arrived. They were very accommodating while I was in much pain. Yet, they were wise enough to let me become more independent as I gained more use of my leg. I would also like to note that when I got home I was excellently prepared for the stairs and different activities that I was required to master. Lastly, I simply have great respect for their positive atmosphere. I never heard a patient, a nurse, a nurse’s aide, PT, OT or any other professional talk derogatory about anyone else there."

"My mom was at Avalon Nursing Center. They had a problem. The pipes froze and it was very cold in there, so we ended up taking my mom out a few days early. They were also having trouble getting staff, but it was around Christmas. My mom got a shared room. There were two rooms, and in between was a shared bath, so four people used one bath, which made it a little difficult for them to get to the bathroom when they needed it. The therapy was good though. The interaction with the staff was difficult because they were in charge of so many rooms, so I didn't have a whole lot of interaction with the staff. My mom was satisfied other than the bathroom setup."

"My husband is in Quality Life Services - New Castle. It was an emergency situation, and that was the only place that could take him. He's only been there for two weeks. With COVID, everything is shut down, and I couldn't see him, but so far, so good. I've been talking on the phone with the nurses and the case manager. When I talk to them on the phone, they're friendly and nice, and they will put him on the phone sometimes. I talked to him, and his family called and talked to him. He said the food is good. I don't have any complaints right now. The outside is clean, and they're actually doing work on it right now, so there is some construction going on."

"My husband is in Haven Convalescent Home. I'm very pleased with it. They're short-staffed, but they are doing it. My husband is receiving excellent care. The rooms are clean and taken care of. I really have no complaints. Their staff are actually working extra to help get through this. If you ask for something, you may wait a few extra minutes because of being short staffed, but you get what you need. I have no complaints. The place is clean. The grounds are very nice outside. They have areas for the patients and the family to visit outside with shelter away from the sun. They have tables, and they have bird feeders for the patients to watch the birds. The parking lot is kept clear, and the sidewalks are kept clear. They do a fantastic job. They decorate for each holiday. The patients receive gifts for each holiday. I would recommend it highly. It is a small facility. It is not a really big facility, but I have come across no staff that I do not see compassionate and caring. They have a very caring and compassionate staff, and the owner sees to that. My husband has no complaints with the food. He eats well. They have a big lunch, a small dinner, a snack, and breakfast. They can basically get a snack anytime they ask, and they can get something to drink anytime they ask. The food is quite adequate. If they don't like what they get, they will gladly give them something else. I'm just glad that's where my husband is at. It's convenient for me. He is clean, and he is well groomed. I'm happy he is there, not that I want him in a nursing, but I'm glad that's where he is at."

"My mother was a short term patient in the fall of 2015 after suffering a heart attack and open heart surgery. The staff were absolutely amazing and the nursing care was excellent. All her personal needs were met, her room was cleaned daily, and she liked the food. She became close with so many of the staff members and was able to go back home within four weeks. "

"My father was in North Hills Health and Rehab for a month or so and after experiencing the whole nursing home world with my wife’s parents, I consider myself a good judge of a a good vs bad facility. This nursing home did a fantastic job with both rehab and nursing and despite my dad being a tough one, they seemed to always be able to handle him. we will definitely be recommending it to others in our same boat. No one wants their parent in a nursing home but this place is different and made a bad situation as good as it could be. The nursing staff was busy like any other nursing home but we still never felt not taken care of. The nurse in charge was great and we loved the rehab department. The rehab manager and social worker always kept me updated and were very nice. If needed we will definitely come back here in the future. "

"My mother-in-law moved into Windsor Estates Assisted Living. She's doing well. She just got out of isolation, and she's doing her first activity today. She said the staff is wonderful, and the food is also wonderful. They have laundry, housekeeping, and a hairstylist on site."
