"My experience with Concordia of Wexford is very pleasant, and they worked well with me. Their staff is wonderful, informative, helpful, and very nice to my mother. They look out for her. Their rooms were very old, and my mom shares a room with another patient. It?s very accessible, and the grounds are very pretty. They do activities, games, and movies. My mother is 86, and she is very active now. "

"Vincentian Home is wonderful. It's like the Taj Mahal. I took my mother's sister there. It was just amazingly wonderful. For a while, there were a lot of nuns there, and one little nun had a multiple sclerosis, and she would come around in her wheelchair and she'd say to my aunt, "Anna, would you like to have a little party today? Would you like a little ice cream?" This is like off the wall in the afternoons at times there. She would do the sweetest things and she herself was handicapped, but it was lovely there. It was so nice and very clean, and meals were amazing."

"My mom was here for 6 weeks with a trach. All the staff were excellent. Shirley, the respitory lady, even came in on her day off to be with my mom when she got her trach out because she was scared. The ladies that did the food service were also so nice. One of nurses even cut my mom's hair as it was matted from her coma. Was clean and no usual pee smell at all."

"The quiet location of Valencia Woods at St. Barnabus will lure you to tour this facility. They are located in Valencia, PA which is a quaint community and also offers many parks, restaurants, and shopping as well. They have a considerable amount of staff to take care of the patients. They offer their patients the care that you would want your family member to receive. Many of the residents are out and about the facility and interacting with the staff and other residents. They also have many support groups for a variety of conditions such as: Cerebral Palsy, Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease. When there is a support group for you it will help to keep a person learning about their disease. This makes someone feel more secure and know what to expect if something changes. Anytime a facility offers ongoing support and education it is wonderful for you as the patient and helps provide reassurance that you are not alone. Tour this facility and you will love the location and wonderful things the staff are doing for the patients. "

"My mother is in North Hills Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She's in skilled nursing and will probably just move down to their memory care unit in another few days. They do physical and occupational therapy. I don't have any problems with them. We've only been there a week. They seem to be very caring, and even though it seems like everybody has a lot of duties to do, they still do them with kindness and dignity. The cleanliness is fine. I don't have any problem with it at all. Every day, I see people cleaning and taking care of it. We've just been to the physical therapy room, and they have a nice TV room. Her room is kept up. It's clean. It's a room with two beds and a bathroom, and the bathroom looks like it's kept clean. I don't have any problem so far. The staff has been very helpful. They look like they have all kinds of things to do."

"My mom has been at Kane Ross Nursing Home for about six weeks now. Everything's going well. The facility is very clean, people there are like family so it's good. I gave it a rating of four. If it were a brand new facility, I would have given it a five. It's an old facility but it's clean. We would recommend this place. "

"My mother is currently in skilled nursing at St. Barnabas, and she is number one on the waiting list for a bed in the memory care unit. I am not crazy about the skilled nursing, but she's got to stay there because of her Alzheimer's. Every move she makes has a traumatic effect on her. She fell and broke her hips, so she had to have a hip replacement and stay in the hospital for just 4 days, but it was unbelievable what it did to her. And then she sprained her back in the skilled nursing, so I brought her back to the skilled nursing in the same place where she was living. I didn't want to put her in a facility where she doesn't know anybody all over again, and that is why I did skilled nursing. Their staff is very attentive and works with them regardless of what their needs are. My father was very bad towards the end before he passed, and they were actually great with him, very sympathetic, and they took care of him. "

"St. John Community was very nice. They gave us a meal. They took us through one of the empty apartments, and they explained everything available there. Everything was nice and clean. I would have moved in there if I had to right now. The staff that we met was very helpful, and they answered any questions you asked honestly. The food was very good. They had choices of four different meals, and if you wanted, you could have a pizza. They had a library and a gym. They had almost anything you would need. They offer bus service to stores and your doctor's appointments, too."

"The staffing for Sherwood Oaks in Cranberry, PA is outstanding. According to the Medicare Survey of this facility they exceed the state average of Registered Nursing coverage per patient hours in a day. The residents receive on average of 1 hour of licensed staff per day for their care. This includes a mix of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Nursing Assistants. This is a smaller facility and they often are close to capacity with a total of 60 certified beds available. The location of Sherwood Oaks in the wonderful neighborhood of Cranberry is a great area. The development and continued growth of this area makes it an attractive residence for patients and families to live in. This is a continued care retirement community which does require a greater down payment prior to moving in to Sherwood Oaks. They do however provide the resident with the care that they will need and if the require additional assistance they can move into a more skilled area within the facility. "

"My father was moved to this facility from a nearby hospital for the final stage of his life. He was only here for 1 week before he passed. The entire staff was wonderful. They went above and beyone to make my dad as comfortable as he could be. The very attentive and accomodating at a time when they could of just given up, They also made special arrangements for us when my dad's roommate was very mean and onery and not very happy we were always there. We stayed there 24 hours a day, only leaving to go home and take showers and change clothes. This was not a problem and the staff even took care of us bringing us juice, coffee and snacks. Although we not involved in any activities, there was always something going on to keep everybody busy and involved. They do have some animals in the building, like a couple house cats and birds. They do allow dogs as visitors which is great for those animal lovers. I would recommend Caring Heights if you are looking for a good home for your loved ones, "

"Cheswick Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, LLC is OK, but I don't see a lot going on there for the residents. I would hate to think of myself as having to live there. It's just not acceptable to me as far as the atmosphere. My sister is in skilled nursing there. She had a stroke and she's wheelchair-bound. Her whole dominant side is paralyzed. The facility looks fine. The staff is really good. They take good care of her physically, but as far as anything to do, it's boring and depressing. Every time I go to visit, she takes one bite of her meal and leaves the rest, and makes faces like it's not too good. It is very clean. They only have one elevator though, which bothers me because she's on the third floor and she's in a wheelchair. If there was a fire, how are they going to get everybody from the third floor and the second floor out with one elevator? That concerned me. With one elevator in the whole place and if it's out of service, they're stuck. I didn't like that at all. If you can do the steps, that's fine, but if you're in a wheelchair or have mobility problems, you're gonna die. The rest of it is fine. They have one big dayroom as soon as you go in with TVs and all. They also have a TV in their room. They had a few activities. I've been there once on the holidays when they had Christmas carols and a guy playing the guitar and playing Christmas carols, but I don't think there's much to do."

"This is a beautiful facility. Everyone I have worked with concerning continuum care there has been wonderful. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately they have a wait list a mile long but it's well worth it. I would consider placement for my parents there if the need ever arose, and I work for a competitor. "

"My mother is in rehab now at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Harmarville. The people have been very nice, so far. They seem to know what they're doing. She's been eating the food and getting what she ordered. The nurses are very calm. My mom is deaf, so they are writing stuff down on the whiteboard that we have. The therapy is the only thing that we're not thrilled with because me and my sister are not allowed in the therapy room with her when she does it. The facility is nice, but it's very, very big. You have to walk pretty far to get to the rooms. It's a great place, but it's way too expensive."

"The Upper Rooms is a newly built twenty-six unit complex that is located just behind the Reformed Presbertarian Home on Perrysville Ave on the North Side of town. All new appliances including a glasstop stove, refrigerator and central air & heat. There are handicap & assisted care living and nursing home facilities. Nursing care and housekeeping for those who are unable to do so for themselves. There is a cafe on the newest addition as well as a barber/beauty shoppe on the premises and a beautiful patio complete with tables chairs and benches. There is a full service laundry room and a community room with a computer and television. The bus takes the patrons out twice a week to the mall and supermarkets. It is conveniently located on the Perrysville bus line which is accessible to downtown Pittsburgh within minutes. I have been a resident since June, there may have been a few insignicant gliches but they have been addressed quickly. The smaller community makes it an ideal place to live. I would give it a ten rating it is one of the best. "
