Nursing Home Communities in Wexford, PA

"My mother is in North Hills Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She's in skilled nursing and will probably just move down to their memory care unit in another few days. They do physical and occupational therapy. I don't have any problems with them. We've only been there a week. They seem to be very caring, and even though it seems like everybody has a lot of duties to do, they still do them with kindness and dignity. The cleanliness is fine. I don't have any problem with it at all. Every day, I see people cleaning and taking care of it. We've just been to the physical therapy room, and they have a nice TV room. Her room is kept up. It's clean. It's a room with two beds and a bathroom, and the bathroom looks like it's kept clean. I don't have any problem so far. The staff has been very helpful. They look like they have all kinds of things to do."

"My mom has been at Kane Ross Nursing Home for about six weeks now. Everything's going well. The facility is very clean, people there are like family so it's good. I gave it a rating of four. If it were a brand new facility, I would have given it a five. It's an old facility but it's clean. We would recommend this place. "

"The Village at St. Barnabas Health System was really well maintained and the staff apparently really cares about how they treat folks. They were very courteous and wonderful when we visited. The place is beautiful and it's self-contained if you want it to be. They have dining areas there, a store, a bank, a post office, and a movie theater. They even have trips to the stores. I just think it will work out well for my friend. The apartments in the independent living were very well taken care of. For every new tenant that comes in, they replace the rugs and paint. They were beautiful. For the dining areas, there were two restaurants. One was more informal than the other. The main dining room has white tablecloths and you are waited on. You could order your food from a menu and I think that's pretty amazing."

"St. John Community was very nice. They gave us a meal. They took us through one of the empty apartments, and they explained everything available there. Everything was nice and clean. I would have moved in there if I had to right now. The staff that we met was very helpful, and they answered any questions you asked honestly. The food was very good. They had choices of four different meals, and if you wanted, you could have a pizza. They had a library and a gym. They had almost anything you would need. They offer bus service to stores and your doctor's appointments, too."

"Sherwood Oaks was a lovely community. They had little homes/houses, and I thought they were small and quite outdated. Of course, you had to go outside to eat your meal in the dining room and then you had to go outside to your garage. The only person I saw was a woman who took me on a tour, and she was very pleasant. They seemed to have a lot of very nice activities. The woman took me to an art studio where some of the residents were painting pictures on their own. They have a bell choir where people are ringing bells for music/playing a melody. I thought that was nice. I know that they have a lot of Bridge groups as well. I had a meal there, and it was lovely. I was very impressed. The building was lovely. It had lovely grounds and a nice little pond there."

"I liked Masonic Village at Sewickley's plan and the way they set it up. You enter with an entrance fee and then you pay a monthly fee that never changes. You can go through memory care, assisted living, and nursing home, but the price never changes. It's always the same. In light of how expensive nursing homes are right now, it's a relief to find something that has that plan. The facilities were beautiful and very clean. You have a choice of villas or different size apartments and they were all excellent. If you move into an apartment, they put new carpeting in, new paint, and do upgrades. Some have had new cabinets put in. The dining area was very pleasant. There's also a workout room, an Olympic-sized pool, walking trails, a bus that picks you up, a woodshop, and lots of rooms for different reasons whether it's playing cards or making crafts. There's a little bit of everything. I've seen the list of activities and it's phenomenal."

"I just want to take this time to give a shout out to the Concordia at Rebecca Residence in Allison Park. to all the staff from the front desk to all the care givers that treated my sister Nina with love, and treating her like their own family member. Below are the members I want to highlight but the list isn't all encompassing it is just the names I remember. "Love this place, My dad is getting the best care here. I asked to tour the facility prior to placing my dad, I was told to stop any time so there was no staging, The facility is clean, the staff is friendly, and the approach is to involve the family in care decisions. There are plenty of activities for the residents. Although I would love for my dad to be able to come home, if that is not possible, I know he will get great care here. "

"The staff at Hillview home provide excellent care. The residents are always clean and dry and well-fed. There is regular entertainment and an in-house doctor who rounds monthly. Medications are dispensed with care and residents are monitored closely to prevent falls. Families are kept well-informed of their loved ones needs. The staff is kind and caring with the residents and everyone is treated equally. The home has a beautiful deck that the residents can enjoy in the warm weather. Meals are home made and residents are encouraged to Boise their likes and dislikes. There’s always plenty of food for everyone. Hillview is and excellent assisted living facility. "

"I thought this was a very nice facility, and my grandmother liked it as well. This facility is located in a convenient location in the heart of Pittsburgh, and near the highway, so it's easy for anyone to get to. The staff was very friendly and attentive when we visited, and the residents seemed very happy and busy with activities. We were told there's an activities director on site to help keep the residents active and happy, and that day trips are planned often as well. The food was very good when we there; I'd say the best out of any place we visited. We also appreciated that the rooms were decorated very nice; made to feel more like home than a facility. I think anyone looking for a facility with friendly staff and a home-like feel would like this place very much. "

"Cheswick Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, LLC is OK, but I don't see a lot going on there for the residents. I would hate to think of myself as having to live there. It's just not acceptable to me as far as the atmosphere. My sister is in skilled nursing there. She had a stroke and she's wheelchair-bound. Her whole dominant side is paralyzed. The facility looks fine. The staff is really good. They take good care of her physically, but as far as anything to do, it's boring and depressing. Every time I go to visit, she takes one bite of her meal and leaves the rest, and makes faces like it's not too good. It is very clean. They only have one elevator though, which bothers me because she's on the third floor and she's in a wheelchair. If there was a fire, how are they going to get everybody from the third floor and the second floor out with one elevator? That concerned me. With one elevator in the whole place and if it's out of service, they're stuck. I didn't like that at all. If you can do the steps, that's fine, but if you're in a wheelchair or have mobility problems, you're gonna die. The rest of it is fine. They have one big dayroom as soon as you go in with TVs and all. They also have a TV in their room. They had a few activities. I've been there once on the holidays when they had Christmas carols and a guy playing the guitar and playing Christmas carols, but I don't think there's much to do."

"I recently had foot surgery and was fortunate to find an opening at Concordia at Villa St. Joseph for rehab services. My room was in the Ebensburg wing and the care staff was very professional and caring. Every time they attended to me, they always asked if there was anymore they could do to help. The food was good (other than spinach and broccoli). The menu was very diverse and with the ala carte options, there was always plenty to eat. I enjoyed working with the rehab staff. I had both PT and OT services and found both very knowledgeable and eager to find solutions to fit my needs. The room was very comfortable, containing a bed, recliner, dresser, tv and a couple of chairs for visitors. I also had a private bathroom, and both the room and bathroom were cleaned daily. Upon waking up in the middle of the night, I noticed that I was having difficulty breathing. Within minutes my room was filled with people. I was impressed with how fast they responded, how well they worked together as a team and how one nurse remained with me once my situation was resolved. That nurse sat with me and explained the vitals they took and how everything was normal and if there was an actual emergency, I would be taken to the hospital. My experience with Concordia at Villa St. Joseph was very positive and they helped me reach my goal of returning home."

"My mother is in rehab now at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Harmarville. The people have been very nice, so far. They seem to know what they're doing. She's been eating the food and getting what she ordered. The nurses are very calm. My mom is deaf, so they are writing stuff down on the whiteboard that we have. The therapy is the only thing that we're not thrilled with because me and my sister are not allowed in the therapy room with her when she does it. The facility is nice, but it's very, very big. You have to walk pretty far to get to the rooms. It's a great place, but it's way too expensive."

"The Upper Rooms is a newly built twenty-six unit complex that is located just behind the Reformed Presbertarian Home on Perrysville Ave on the North Side of town. All new appliances including a glasstop stove, refrigerator and central air & heat. There are handicap & assisted care living and nursing home facilities. Nursing care and housekeeping for those who are unable to do so for themselves. There is a cafe on the newest addition as well as a barber/beauty shoppe on the premises and a beautiful patio complete with tables chairs and benches. There is a full service laundry room and a community room with a computer and television. The bus takes the patrons out twice a week to the mall and supermarkets. It is conveniently located on the Perrysville bus line which is accessible to downtown Pittsburgh within minutes. I have been a resident since June, there may have been a few insignicant gliches but they have been addressed quickly. The smaller community makes it an ideal place to live. I would give it a ten rating it is one of the best. "
