"Paramount Senior Living-Bethel is a very nice place. They have a lot of activities which is what my sister likes about it. Every day they have something for them to participate in. The staff seems to be very nice. My sister is very happy there, but she complains about the meals. I have eaten there and I found it was pretty good institutional food. The facility, like any other places, is expensive and that in time would be a problem if she runs out of money. "

"I’m here at Paramount Senior Living at South Hills. I have a large one-bedroom with a lot of furniture from home. It may not have the menus that other places have but here you have room. They have a gazebo, nice grounds, a lot of bingo, and poker some nights. They have a little garden club, and the other day, we went to the meadow. They go to Walmart once in a while. There’s a doctor across the street but the doctor I go to weekly is in Coraopolis and the daughter of one of the aides here drives me to Coraopolis and back. They serve three meals."

"My grandmother lived at the Grand Residence for over 10 years. She loved her life there, we enjoyed the community as family members and we were so grateful for her years of care there. At first she was reluctant to give up her freedoms of independent living. All those worries were quickly dismissed as she settled into her new life at the Grand. She made new friends, loved helping others who needed assistance, meeting other guests’ families, befriended staff who assisted her daily, going on the shopping trips and other adventures, having daily meal specials to look forward to, her weekly hair appointments in the salon and so much more. She enjoyed hosting family and friends visiting in the dining room without any prep or clean up on her part. It was like she enjoyed showing off her new home & community to her visitors. It was a lovely community to visit and bring my kids (her great grandchildren). She enjoyed showing off the grandkids and they enjoyed meeting the other guests who lived there. On warm days we’d enjoy sitting on the back patio where we could lunch, the kids could enjoy the fountain and see what was growing in the garden. Sometimes we’d stroll down to see the creek and my grandma enjoyed watching the kids explore. The monthly family nights were a nice anchor for our visits. The entertainment was varying and fun and the monthly themed desserts were amazing! Other special events through the year were such a joy for my grandmother such as the Firemen’s Ball or Trick or Treat with the community coming in. We were grateful for the kindness & respect my grandmother was given by the staff. There was a lot of comfort in knowing she was safe and well cared for. The environment was always clean and well cared for. It’s a gorgeous building decorated beautifully which we appreciated compared to more institutional settings we visited. Such care and thought from the fresh flowers on each dining table to the seasonal decor. It was the perfect fit for my grandmother to spend her last decade of life living in such a thoughtful community. She so enjoyed her life there and we enjoyed becoming part of the community there. The Grand Residence gave her the quality of life she was accustomed to and the support she needed as her needs grew greater. We were grateful to have the peace of mind knowing we could trust in her care. "

"The people maintain my dad's room and provide his meals, security, and transportation. It's very nice. I would recommend it. They have activities like bingo, go out to different places, and have different types of meals for them."

"Mom moved into Sterling Home last September. The place is nice and the rooms are decent. The only thing I have is that if you want a room with a bathroom, you have to pay more. If not, you have to use the community bathroom. I like the staff. They do care about the residents, and I've never seen them mistreat anyone. I know that my mother has never felt mistreated. As far as the services, they wash her clothes, make sure that she gets her meds, and they provide her with meals. I'm pretty much satisfied with the services that she receives. There are no activities going on there. They are indicating that most of the residents don't want to participate. The dining area is clean, but I think the selection could be better."

"I enjoyed the atmosphere at Point Pleasant Retirement. Everybody seemed very welcoming (not only the staff, but the residents as well), and they just wanted to share about all the exciting things they do within the community. Susie was very knowledgeable about the facility, including the residents themselves, and the interactions that she had with them were just refreshing to see: the care and compassion she showed for them. They serve three meals a day. They have a courtyard and a walking path."

"This brand new facility which opened in January 2012 is beautifully decorated with photos of old time Hollywood movie stars and big bright common areas. Music from back in the day plays as you enter and then fades away. Clients' rooms have plenty of space with bathrooms that include safe showering. The Alz floor is very safe for the seniors with plenty of room to walk the halls without being able to wander off unattended. There are daily activities in the rec room such as cookie decorating and the food is well prepared with lunches and dinners arriving with dessert. The only cons that I can see is the priciness, which may make this unaffordable for some. Also, I have not been able to visit without being "announced" by the front desk which precludes making any kind of unexpected visit. It is good to be able to drop in unexpectedly to know what happens when the attendant staff does not know ahead of time. that there will be a visit, but this hasn't happened. "

"Sherwood Oaks was a lovely community. They had little homes/houses, and I thought they were small and quite outdated. Of course, you had to go outside to eat your meal in the dining room and then you had to go outside to your garage. The only person I saw was a woman who took me on a tour, and she was very pleasant. They seemed to have a lot of very nice activities. The woman took me to an art studio where some of the residents were painting pictures on their own. They have a bell choir where people are ringing bells for music/playing a melody. I thought that was nice. I know that they have a lot of Bridge groups as well. I had a meal there, and it was lovely. I was very impressed. The building was lovely. It had lovely grounds and a nice little pond there."

"It is fantastic; it was just exactly what I was looking for. They have a pool, beauty shops, a massage room, and a washer and dryer. They have a kitchenette, they have a stove, and the rooms are good sized with lots of closets. The staff was fantastic. They were so friendly and outstanding, and they made you feel very welcome."

"My mother moved into the independent living level. It was recently built like less than a year ago, so it's very new. It's physically a very nice community with nice apartments. It has all the usual amenities, they do clubs, and have movie nights. They have an in-house dining facility, and they provide the residents with lunch and dinner. It's a very pretty and well-put together community. It's an apartment building in a parking lot with some stores and some residential areas nearby. It's like two minutes away from the highway, so it's fairly convenient. Of all the senior places we've looked at, this was the best combination for us in terms of location, price, and facility quality. I think it's a moderate price for the level of quality that's offered. There are areas that could be better, but we like them. Their staff is good, they're nice, friendly, and polite. Their food is also very good."

"My mother has been in St John Lutheran Care Center since July. It's a nice place. It's clean and well-maintained and the staff is cheerful and attentive. "

"The Arbors at St Barnabas is a great place. The staff is very professional and very easy to work with. They were able to get my mom in the facility as soon as possible. We went and visited after a month that she is in there, and they are really, really great. The room that she is in is a double room, and it's a good size room. It has beautiful surroundings. She's involved with all kinds of activities every day. They have physical and craft activities as well as social activities. They have an excellent counselor who sends me email updates at least once a week. Also the reason why we chose the place is because they will keep her all the way to nursing care. "

"We've lived here six years in independent living, and are quite pleased with everything. There's a wonderful, friendly, capable staff and beautiful facilities. The term "community" is appropriate, from the neighborly volunteer spirit of the residents to the cooperative decision-making of staff/resident committees. A parent was also here in assisted living and nursing, and received excellent care. Nursing and other staff were attentive and competent, and interacted wonderfully with family members. We couldn't ask for more."

"Alexis Manor is very, very nice. But they only offer 1-bedroom. It's very well-run. They bring over the kids from grade school and they put on little shows and play bingo and stuff with the folks that live there, which is kind of cool. "
