Equipment for mobility is in poor condition and major equipment for mobility such as a Sit-To-Stand is nonexistent. My ambulant friend quickly became bedridden. The structure of the building and its contents seem in good condition. I never saw any aides. Soiled laundry layed in closet with possible C-Diff matter unconcealed. Instructions were left stating laundry would be picked up and taken home however those instructions were not observed and the rest of his clothing became lost. Doctor never returned my phone calls and only spoke with the “ Nurse Practioner” once who became very argumentative. The food seemed ok. Most areas where clean.

My wife was at Covington Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation for about a year. I had no problem leaving her there. She was fine. They had a regimen that they followed every day and they watched over her. They worked on her medication. They took care of her recovery. The staff was caring, friendly, and skilled. The food was on time every day, a certain time, but if you wanted something else, you could go and get it. It's a beautiful place and it's clean. They have somebody that could cut and take care of your hair. They had bingo, too, twice a week which is something that you go with people to do things. Then every once in a while, a guest speaker would come and they had an auditorium where you could go and listen to them. They had things to do other than just lying around.

It's a beautiful facility, but not very accommodating. My father is overweight and they seemed put off by having to use a Hoyer lift to get him up. Overall, I got the impression that they felt that he had too many needs and they didn't want to work with him which is why he required rehab to begin with. The facility has beautiful social rooms. The resident rooms are private rooms. They're a little on the small side, but nicely decorated.

I think it is the only one in East Palestine, Ohio. Covington was brand new and also very nice. We just went in and looked around, and we really didn't spend a lot of time because I think we were in a hurry, but everybody seemed very friendly and helpful. Again, it was new, it was clean, and it didn't smell.
