Assisted Living Communities in Oxford, OH

"I will move into Northgate Park. I've been there two or three times, and everybody has been friendly and accommodating and answers all your questions. One thing I liked about it was that because I'd lived in this neck of the woods for decades, I'd never even heard of the place. The gal said, "We rarely have any openings. In other words, we don't have to advertise. People go there, and they stay." The staff was very informative. I only had a lunch meal, but it was a hot meal. It was homemade. Two things they have: gluten-free and low salt, so all that is good for elderly people. The other menus have a variety and not just the same old thing. They're remodeling the room, new bathrooms, and everything in them. So, it should be top-notch when I get there."

"We toured The Winfield at Middletown. They're a very nice place. I would move in there myself. We ask about the menu. We got to go down and see the cafeteria and take a tour of the entire facility. The rooms are nice. It's like having your own little apartment. You can furnish them with your own furniture, your own couch, recliner, whatever you want. They were spacious. Everything was very clean. They had a therapy room. The lady took us to a room and was so nice and explained everything about the facility, the pricing, and so forth, and what she had available. I wouldn't even call it a nursing home. It was immaculate. They're very reasonably priced too."

"One star for the owner of this place. When my husband was dying a former wonderful caregiver of my husband who my husband and the whole family loved wanted to come visit him but the owner would not allow her into the house! He had held a former disagreement against her and thus prevented my husband from seeing someone who cared about him from seeing him before he died. Remember I am paying money for my husband to live here. Secondly, after my husband came back from the hospital and was going to be under hospice care we found out a new resident had been accepted. This new resident was highly inappropriate for the house. She had serious mental health problems, was constantly shouting obscenities( several times in front of my grandchildren and also to a hospice worker) had a dog that was having accidents all over the house and she was allowed to smoke. All this was going on while my husband was dying. My husbands relatives wondered what kind of place we had my husband in. It was very bad. I would think twice about bringing a loved one here. "

"I was able to tour Provision Living at West Chester. It's a very beautiful facility, and it's very clean. The people there were really nice and attentive, they answered all our questions, and we had an extremely nice tour. The rooms were really nice, they were accommodating when I had indicated that I would rather have carpeting instead of flooring, if that was something that they'd do. They said that they would do what was needed. You'd have to bring your own microwave, there's not any in every single one of them. The laundry is down the hall, so there's not laundry in the unit itself, but it's spacious, and the ceilings are high. The people were very nice, and those who gave us the tour were extremely knowledgeable. I can't say enough good things about it. The reason why I didn't choose this place was because it's an assisted living facility, and I just need independent living. One thing that they had which was wonderful and made it really hard for me to say no, was they have these infrared cameras in the units, in the rooms and bedrooms. So should somebody fall, it alerts the facility people, and they'd come to help you, so you don't have to wear a signal or anything. It's automatically monitoring you, but not monitoring you for what you're doing. They won't know who you are necessarily, but they have the capability of getting to you almost immediately should you need assistance. I received some phone calls prior to touring the facility, from the one who was running the place. It's a really small facility, there were only like 20 rooms. That for me is a little too small, because I want to make some friends. The food was very good."

"Aaron's Garden Senior Living & Memory Care was beautiful. It was great. There was nothing wrong with the community, but we wanted a single apartment for my father. We did not want a bedroom where he would walk out into the hallway. It was a beautiful setup. He loved it as far as if he was at that point to go there at a different time, yes, but not at this stage in his life. The people during the tour were very pleasant. It's very clean. The common areas were very pleasant."

"The one that we liked that we would have been very happy to live there was Christian Village at Mt. Healthy. From the time you enter their driveway, it's like you're driving into a park. It's all trees and it's a beautiful environment. The facility itself is very welcoming and very quiet. There are a lot of large windows that look out onto the garden areas. Even looking out on those, they have fountains. We even saw hummingbirds at feeders. That place is the cleanest that you could ever imagine. It is spotless, and it even smells fresh, which you don't always find when you go into a facility for elderly people. It's very clean, and it smells clean. The people were extremely nice. They don't have a lot of people there. It's just like a big family. Anybody would just go there and feel like they're living at home. You don't feel like you're in any place different, so we liked it. We were really disappointed to realize that we couldn't make our money stretch far enough to be able to go there. But to us, it was the absolute, ideal, perfect place. We couldn't have asked for anything different. We looked at their menu for the day, the meal plan, the dining room, and the chapel that they have. They have a beautiful gift shop within the facility. They have a wonderful laundry room in the basement. When we got off the elevator in the basement, I commented that it certainly was not like any basement I had ever seen before. The whole floor was very, very nice, and the laundry facility was nice. We couldn't have asked for anything different. The staff was very pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. She knows all the residents who were there. As she passed them in the hallway, she called them by name, and that was a plus, too. "

"I completed my tour of Brookdale Springdale. They wanted me to live there, but we couldn't come to an agreement on prices. The staff was very nice. The rooms were very nice and accommodating. The dining area was nice, too. They have patios and they're nice. It's a nice place."

"I toured Arbor Trace. The best thing I liked was the people. The facilities are also very nice. The least I like is the cost because we were going to have to pay out of pocket, but everything was good aside from the fact that we couldn't afford it. The living space was a little small, but it was nice and clean. It had enough room to live in, though it wasn’t like an apartment. It was basically a small living area with a bathroom. There was also a little garden area where you could sit outside. Overall, it was a nice space."

"My aunt almost lived at Mallard Cove Senior Living. It was a nice facility. It provided three meals a day whereas some of the other ones only did one or two. She looked at available apartments there whereas some of the other facilities only showed us, models. She looked at three apartments there. The apartment she looked at actually had laundry in the room, which was a perk. The one thing that I liked about this facility compared to the other facilities was that, should her level of care increase and should she need assisted living, she would not have had to move apartments, she would just have to change rooms. The only thing that held them back, is they only had a balcony, and she wanted a patio. She had put money down to move in there and then changed her mind and moved into another facility instead mainly because of the patio. They provided three meals a day and they had a lot of different things that they did there in terms of happy hour and bingo. The staff was friendly. When we walked in, everybody was nice. It's a nice facility."

"The facilities at Brookdale Richmond were excellent. The community was very close to where my mom lives now. They were very helpful. The rooms were very nice, and the food that they offered was excellent. They had buses that could take the residents places and had all kinds of things going on at the building, like a picnic and a cookout. One time we went, they had the people in the surrounding area bring their dogs so all of the residents could watch them perform, which was fun."

"I toured Brookdale Finneytown. It was a little newer and a little larger than the others. The staff were very nice and very professional. It's clean and I like the structure and the layout. It's a little better than some of the others. The room was adequate. The dining area was fine. They did a good job of walking me around."

"My mom was at Bickford of Middletown for respite for a week. The place was very nice, she was in one of those efficiencies that had a kitchenette. The bed was in the area where you have your chair or a TV, they had a bathroom and a closet, and everything was very nice. They also had a microwave and refrigerator. But right now, the length of stay for respite is a minimum of 30 days. The staff was wonderful with her, she loved it there. They had activities and cooking, and they were very attentive, they still call from time to time. I didn't try the food, but everything was homemade and Mom really enjoyed it and liked it. They had a place where you could go and get your hair and nails done, they have bingo, arts and crafts, and happy hour. They had kind of a meet and greet thing where they could go and sit and have coffee and a pastry, and just chitchat. They had a library where you could borrow books and drop off books and stuff like that too."

"The Wellington at North Bend Crossing was very nice. The staff was exceptional. I would pay for that one. It gave you more than the other place did as far as amenities. The staff was courteous. It was very clean."

"I toured Barrington of West Chester. It's well done, well prepared, has a lot of activities, is in good shape, and is friendly. The staff know the people there. They go above and beyond. The facility was clean and well laid out."
