I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom stayed in Mercy Siena Woods for about seven months. It was OK, but they were short on employees. Also, the room was very dim, not very inviting, gloomy, and depressing. There was older furnitures too. However, I think my mom enjoyed the activities and the socialization; they did what they could. They celebrated birthdays, they did Bingo, different people came in and did their nails and their hair, and they had a chapel there. They did do something to create a community there.

Keep a close eye out for your friend or family member. Mom had a swallowing issue and was on oxygen. She didn't want to go to the dining room because of these problems so for a few weeks they brought food to her, not always the food she could eat. They suggested speech therapy but never followed-up. Sometimes they missed her totally, 2-3 days n a row. The head nurse sad they would refuse to bring her meals in time and make her go to the dining room. They eventually did quit! But, they didn't talk to her about it. They just quit and she ate what she could out of a can, crackers, cheese. My point is this... if they stopped bringing her food they could have at least checked to make sure she ate. "Assisted living". I had to clean her "clean" room before she could move in, sweep, mop, wash the shower etc., etc. the biggest problem, and why you MUST keep on top of things...She fell and NOT ONE person acknowledges it. A female worker helped her up, alone, into bed and said a nurse would be in to check.....NEVER did a nurse check her. She was essentially okay but had very sore ribs from a one-person lift. The head nurse even suggested to me that it "might have been a dream". No report made " because there is no documentation" and " no one knows anything about it". What to do...the state?

I visited this facility

Mercy Sienna Gardens was a very warm and friendly environment, very comfortable. The rooms were quite small but accommodating. The dining room was perfect, really nice, and very inviting. When we went, a lot of residents were doing outside activities. Everybody was happy and seemed very comfortable. It was clean and organized, well-staffed, and friendly.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I live in Mercy Siena Gardens in independent senior living. I'm having a good experience, and I like my apartment. We have carry-in dinners, play games, and have a bus that takes us to the grocery store. They have exercise classes, but I don't do them. We have our own nurse, chapel, and exercise room.

Mercy Siena has assisted living or your own apartment. It’s right on Main Street, has a very nice environment, and is quiet. It’s clean inside too. The rooms are big, nice, and roomy. They have a cooking facility inside the building where they can cook their own food, or you just go down and get food. The staff was very helpful. They showed me something right away, and they got my application in there. They called me, but I didn’t want it that time because of my daughter. They do morning exercises, but I don’t know what type because I didn’t sit in on any of them. I have a friend who lives there, and she does morning exercise. They have activities during the day until 4 or 5 o’clock. It’s a very nice place, and it seems to be well secured coming in and out. I can recommend any senior to live there.

I visited this facility

The reason we like Mercy Seana Gardens is that they have a church service right there where Dad could go to. They are geared towards Catholics so there are a lot of retired priests who live there. The rooms are older but they're clean and nice. It had a main dining room and it looked like they have good care. We only met with the person who gave us a tour. She was very good, very thorough, very knowledgeable and seemed very caring.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My experiences with Mercy Siena Retirement Community have been overall good. I have a ninety-two year old grandmother that lives there. We put her in the Mercy Siena Retirement home because she was getting to old to be alone by herself and she was having problems seeing and hearing. I remember walking in with my parents and seeing all the friendly faces greeting my grandmother and us. From what my grandmother says she likes it too. She says they feed her well and they are always there to care for her when she pushes her help button. The only problem we have ever had was one time about a year ago my grandmother had some money missing from her wallet. She always keeps her wallet in her purse in her room but for some reason all her money was gone. We contacted the Mercy Siena staff and reported the problem. They told us that she probably just misplaced the money so to this day we don't know who or what lost the money. Besides that one instance the Mercy Siena Nursing home has been a great place for my grandmother to live out her last years.
