"I toured Grace Brethren Village. I like basically where it's located because it's close to shopping and it's close to a lot of different things that we would use. It's close to the hospital and our doctor, and that's important. What I wasn't crazy about was that it's older. It doesn't have quite the amenities that some of the newer places have, but it was very nice. It was clean. It was very well-appointed. They were still remodeling when we were there so it may have changed by now. The staff was very polite, very nice, and very knowledgeable of what was going on, and took a lot of time with us. They have some activities, not as much as some of the newer homes, but they have a place for cards and a community room. It was very nicely done."

"My mother was at PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Miamisburg for ten days. What I liked best about them was that the physical and occupational therapists were top-notch. I would give them a high five. They were very good and very responsive. They had good analysis and good therapy. The staff, I thought, was very poor. They were barely adequate, especially on Sundays. On Sundays, they don't have any therapy or any administrative people in the facility. I found that when she was there on two different Sundays, the staff gathered in the hallway and talked to themselves. It was very hard to get any assistance. The whole process was not explained for the food. They had three different types of diets. What I understand from my mother is that you didn't know what kind of food you were getting. You never had any options. It was just one meal. Many times things were missing that she was supposed to get off of the menu. They usually said, "Oh, that's because we ran out. We didn't have any." There was never a substitute that was offered. The food was just kind of bland looking, too. The presentation wasn't very good at all. It's a brand new facility so it was very clean. The layout was good. There wasn't a lot of direction, though. If you were there for the first time and didn't know where somebody was, it was difficult to try to get someone to assist you. The staff just seemed kind of indifferent. Again on Sundays, the staff did nothing. If you went up to the desk, nobody acknowledged you on the floor. You had to push to get a question answered. Most of the time if you ask them something, they would say "I don't know." They don't want to engage at all. During the week, it was a little better, but there was no explanation when you got checked in. It's just like, "Okay, you're checked in. We checked your vitals, and you're just here.""

"Sycamore Glen Health Center was OK. Mom didn't complain about the food, so I guess it was good. Mom had a very nice, private room. The therapy and care was good, and we didn't have any issues with that. The people were personable. The place was clean and sanitary. "

"Our mother was in this facility for several years. Most facilities like this are known for frequent staff changes - however, the active director Summer and her staff has been the constant figure who keeps their patients entertained and active. She provides daily interaction with and among their patients. Armchair Exercises, singing , bingo, card games, and other activities; plus they celebrate birthdays . The Valentine Fundraiser gives their patients a special gift for Valentine’s Day. Our family was grateful for the focus in engaging of activities with our mother and the other patients. Summer has been real blessing for our family."

"My brother has been a resident at Vienna Springs for 6 months. This is a beautiful new facility. He's in a double room with a roommate. I love the fact that the room includes a large walk in bathroom with a shower. However, one side of this particular floorplan is much smaller than the other. I chose the smaller part because it's at the door. My brother is in a wheelchair making his coming and going easier. The room comes with a phone, flat screen TV and a very nice recliner. There's also a wardrobe and a four drawer dresser for clothing. The staff is very welcoming, from the director to the aids. Concerns are taken care of in a timely minor. I requested a care team meeting to ask how to get my brother more involved in activities instead of spending so much time in front of the TV watching sports and movies (which he loves to do). Now he is involved in activities and making new friends which he loves more. A staff person will bring him so he can attend. My brother enjoys the food. The culinary chef came to Bill's room shortly after he arrived to ask what his favorite foods were. Also every Friday is Happy Hour. The food and drinks are delicious. And the first Sunday of every month there's a Sunday brunch where family members are welcomed. I feel so much is done to help residents experience a normal home life. There are trips into the community that Bill can't attend right now. However, this spring hopefully I can make arrangements to go along so Bill can be involved. Both Brother Bill and I see a long happy life at Vienna Springs thanks to this caring staff. A special thanks to Kristen, Kourtney and Holly. "

"This facility is set up very differently than most. It has 5 homes with 10 rooms for residents. There are two aids and nurses for each home. All the cooking, cleaning, laundry is done in each home. The residents are not on a strict schedule and sit in a main room looking drugged up. They may make their own meals, get carryouts, work in the garden or do what they want. We will be moving my sister there in the near future. "

"Mom is at Franklin Ridge Healthcare Center. It's nothing fancy, but I like the way it's laid out on one floor, and the rooms are of pretty good size. They keep the place nice and clean. The staff is wonderful. They are very attentive and they call us if there's any concern. The dining area is nice with a lot of windows, and the food seems to be pretty good. My mom eats very well there."

"My mother is in Carlisle Manor. It is very clean and very family orientated. The nurses have been there for 37 years, 25 years, so there must be something good about it. They love their job. They explain everything to the fullest, and help you adjust with what you're going through. My sister said the food is very good. There is a coordinator for the activities. They keep them busy a lot. They have bingo and different things like that. We get what we pay for."

"Pristine Senior Living and Post-Acute Care of Dayton-Centerville (Liberty Retirement Community) is not as good as many others. The rooms are nice enough. "I am currently in rehab at Austin Trace Health and Rehabilitation. They have nice activities, a lot of socials, and games. You can get out of your four walls and do something. So they have a happy hour. The problem is I'm a vegetarian. They're having trouble accommodating me. The response from the staff is sometimes very, very slow, especially when you need pain medication."

"Bethany Village is an excellent facility. They have great people and they take care of my wife. The food is good and the facility is outstanding. I consider it to be the best place in this area. It is expensive, but I'm really satisfied with what they have done for us. My parents were also there and her parents were there. It is just a very good, solid organization. The staff is very helpful and they have a real good attitude. They do anything I've asked them to do. They list the activities they have for the day and they also have a social worker that goes around and works with the residents. That social worker always does my wife's fingernails. Then they have a conference once a month with the caretakers to get their input. So, they're very well-organized."

"This facility continues to amaze me with the quality of care that is given to the residents. The facility is always so clean, the staff is so welcoming and the nurses always provide the best care. My great aunt has been a resident there for over a year and she loves being there. She feels at home and does not feel the stigma of certain estended care facilities while there. She and I have nothing but great things to say! "

"We toured St. Leonard for independent living, and the facility was nice. My brother was living there in an assisted living environment. I'd been in and out of there, and no problem with the facility. It was fine. However, it was just a waiting list for the type of housing situation we had. So, it was a matter of supply and demand. They had full kitchen appliances such as stoves, microwaves, and everything. There were refrigerators, washers, and dryers. There's one person, a resident, who greeted us while we were waiting for other people to be interviewed for pricing. He was very informative, the good and the bad about living there, and the person who explained the situation was forthright and upfront about everything."
