"I like the fact that The Glen has all levels of care, so it's not just a nursing home. There's independent living, assisted living, a rehab, and then there's the nursing home portion, where my dad is. I think it's a little more lively place because it has a mix of people. They do a really nice job with the activities for the residents and keeping the families updated on the status of their residents. My dad fell once, so and they immediately called my sister who lives there locally. They told her what happened. They continued to monitor him after that. The level of care seems to be very, very good. They pay attention to things. They also have things like a beauty salon, a barbershop, nail salon, physical therapy on site, transportation, and a lot more. It's really nice."

"We chose Otterbein Union Township for dad because they had full nursing care and they're very accommodating to our needs. They have a courtyard and they've been keeping the place fairly clean. He's using his Medicare benefit right now to pay for it. I think he likes the food, too."

The staff was fine, except for the finances. They kept pushing for more money, but still it was a good place. I would choose it if it was OK for me."

"The campus is very nice, with lots of green. It looks well kept. The inside is nice, but nothing special. It's nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. All the staff I encounter were friendly and seemed caring. My grandmother is unfortunately no longer able to function well enough to be able to give her opinion of the care, but she seems to be well taken care of. The rooms themselves leave something to be desired in my opinion. Most of the rooms seem to be 2 beds, and are completely lacking any charm. White walls, white tile floor, white beds, etc. Compared to some of the other nursing homes I've seen, this place seems so sterile and un-homey, which I would consider a definite con if I were the one living there. However, the facility is clean, and the staff seem competent, friendly and caring, which is the most important thing, so overall I would rate it very highly. "

"My wife is in a rehab convalescent home at Batavia Nursing Care Center. She has been staying there for over two years now. She loves it. The staff there is excellent. They all seem to be very caring and everything. She hits a buzzer and they're right there. They take good care of her. They do everything for her. They cut her food up, they use a Hoyer lift to get her in and out of bed, and she has a wheelchair that they push her around in. She seems to like the food, too. She says they give her enough. They have very good maintenance on the buildings, like if the clock is wrong, they fix it. The rooms are excellent. The yards are all cut and clean. There is no garbage going around. They allow pets there. I take my pup in there to my wife and all the attendants and nurses come and look at him and play with him. My wife seems to like activities. They play bingo, horse races, and a few other games. They have dinners like Christmas and Thanksgiving, and stuff for the people and their families. I don't have any complaints about the place."

Three weeks later, after 5 days a week of PT and occupational therapy, my dad could walk on his own again. The staff was so nice and helpful and knew his name. The food looked and smelled good. Dad ate nearly all of it. His laundry was cleaned and nothing got lost. It's a real positive place and they did wonders for my dad. "

"I was a patient at the Venetian Gardens. I was in a rehab part of it during that time because I had fractured my arm in 19 places. The shortage of staff would be the least liked. They were short of staff, and they could have used at least twice the amount of staff. They had nice activities and the food was out of this world. The rooms were like private rooms, but yet they were semi-private. Two people were in a room, but there was a wall between the two people before you went out the door. Their chef was phenomenal. They would have little parties for the different holidays. For example, they had a Father's Day party where the fathers were all recognized. They made a point of acknowledging everybody's birthday by putting their picture outside in the hallway with some kind of a notice saying it was such and such a person's birthday this week. They had church services two and three times a week. I didn't get to participate in a lot of them, though. They were always clean and didn't have that old people smell. My stay was paid for by Medi-Cal. I was there for almost a month because then I would have had to start to pay out of pocket."

"My friend really likes The Mariemont Care Center. The staff is very attentive, very friendly, and very efficient. They do a good job. Her room is a lot smaller than what she's used to, but she's really turned it into her home with her art and her furniture, and that has a gorgeous view of the valley because it sits up on a hillside. They're renovating a lot of spaces, so it's kind of like a work in progress, but the parts that I've seen that they've completed are really lovely. There's plenty of parking. The patio is nice, under a roof, and spacious."

"Sunrise Manor In Amelia, Ohio is a great assisted Living Facility. My Grandmother has spent many years there. There are many great activities for the residents to attend. They can play bingo, games, and fun brain quizzes. It keeps them active and excited for the next day. Family members are more than welcome at any time of the day. The staff are all very friendly and caring towards family and the residents. Staff members are willing to do anything to keep all the residents. They take residents for walks through the facility and assist them in everyday activities. The facility is very well organized and clean. Their is a very elegant dining room with seats for all the residents. The food is good so that's a added bonus. Overall the resident are very comfortable and happy in the environment they are in.
