Abbington of Arlington

We chose Abbington of Arlington for my brother. We wanted it to be close to our family, which we all live within a two-mile radius of that facility. We liked the fact that they accept Medicaid should his funds run out. We liked the facility. He went with me, and they were very sweet to him. He felt very comfortable with the staff that he met. We met with the activities director and she gave him a list of activities that he would be able to participate in. We saw the dining room. He talked to the head cook and liked him and liked the menus. What I saw of it was clean. There were some nice seating areas. There was a library, which was nice, and there was a sunroom that was very nice and could accommodate our family if all of us chose to go at one time.

As I mentioned, I've visited this facility a few times over the years. It's actually pretty nice, and I found myself envious of a woman that had a 2-3 bedroom living space and bills for so little rent. She didn't work, was on disability, had two kids, and a husband that was hardly supportive, but could still manage to afford everything. It wasn't in the safest district, and a lot of things seemed to happen around there, but it's Colombus and what can you do. Other than that, it was a pretty enlightening experience. The place was close to bus routes and full of people that could help her as well as contacts to free provided services (such as someone to drive her to places and grocery delivery), and it was a relief to know that there are places like that for the down and out that can really use the assistance.
