"It is a time when your children are grown and the loss of a spouse puts your future in a whirlwind. It is a time when you wonder what you will do, where will you go, and where will you live. Will it be somewhere that will help you make the most of the future years that are troubling you now? Enter, Spanish Cove. I have lived here for five years now, and I can tell you without any trouble at all that it is the best decision my children ever made for me.I took the tour and the beautiful swimming pool was my favorite thing. My apartment is right by it. It is heated and enclosed in glass. The sparkling beauty of it only partly upstages the gorgeous plants and flowers inside that flourish all year round. In the summer, the glass doors on the ceiling roll back and the beauty of a summer day engulfs its beauty. It is my Garden of Eden. But that isn't all. There are state-of-the-art exercise rooms, exercise equipment, a sewing room, a library, rooms for exercise workouts, billiard tables, coffee lounging areas, and CD library with all movies to check out. There are art classes for the creative mind, and on and on. The beautiful Central Park for chatting in front of the fire pit with its beautiful fountains just sparkles in the day and into the night.. The campus is just spectacular with all the beauty of flowers and hedges, and statues. But even more compelling is the staff and residents. The staff spends hours planning and putting into place marvelous trips for our entertainment and sometimes for our learning current events so that our minds stay sharp and aware. We travel in a gorgeous brand new coach with all the extras that make travel fun. And the people are the dearest on Earth. They absorb your sorrows as well as your joys and they help make the journey into the last season of your heart, better than all the other seasons put together. Getting to decorate your new apartment is the most fun.....I even got to bring my two cats and decorate the apartment with cat trees, etc. any way I chose. Some say my apartment looks like a little girl ten years old lives there; that's okay....I will always be ten so they are nice to me and just accept it. I have made some of the dearest friends I have ever had while living here. I wish I could explain adequately how the staff just unbelievably goes the second--and third mile--for US. If you are looking, look no further. This is THE place to be. Needless to say I love it here......... YOU will, too. "

"The Grand at Bethany has been good. They've reacted to suggestions and concerns I had right away. They were very receptive. The activities are good and their therapy department has been very helpful to my mom. The food is also good, but the main thing I liked about it is it's consistent and on time. They have a library, a church service every Monday at 10, and a very nice outdoor garden that's enclosed. It's got a waterfall that pumps the water up and it's got flowers. It's big that you can walk around and get outside, while still being enclosed. You don't have to worry about outside sources."

"I put dad in Heritage Park. It's a dump. It's just really old and run-down, and there's no place for you to sit and visit with them. My daddy died 2 months ago. He was only there less than a couple of months. He loved the food. The food was good. It looked dirty just because it was all run-down. But the bathroom was always clean and it never smelled bad, so I'm sure it was clean. They would do sing-alongs in the morning. One of the nurses would play old songs on the piano, and they would all sing along. The staff was very nice. I guess that's what I liked best. I never felt comfortable visiting the facility. I felt like I was in the way. "

"We chose Concordia Life Care Community for my mother-in-law because mainly they have a room while other places didn't. She's doing well there and it's working out for her. They've been very attentive and kind, and we have had no problems. For as little as she can do, they do a good job with the activities. I know that what we're paying is on the upper end. It is located fairly close to the hospitals."

"My father required care in the skilled/rehab section of Baptist Village. It is a newer facility that is very clean. I loved how each section or neighborhood was laid out. Each one had its own kitchen with an eat in bar that was open to the dining and living area. The rooms were surrounding the area with the nurses station in the middle. It felt very home like. Every staff member that we came in contact with was very kind, helpful and attentive. The therapists were also very knowledgeable and provided excellent treatment. I was very impressed with this skilled facility and would highly recommend it. "

"They are so sincerely caring. They will keep the family informed. This place isn't most beautiful but it feels like home. The food is great and they will cook something special if you ask. My mom is there, it feels like home when you walk in. I can't say enough about this nursing home. I have been on top of my mother's care and they work side by side with me to accomplish every goal we wanted with my mother. If you have any doubt about where to place your loved one this is the place."

"My mother is already at the Quail Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She's been there before, so she returned to this facility. They are extremely thorough and attentive. Their doctors are very willing to work with the patients and their family. It's a very pleasant environment. They work very hard in keeping it up. I don't have any complaints about the facility itself. "

"I visited Fairmont Skilled Nursing & Therapy, a skilled nursing facility, and they were wonderful. If I ever have to be in a skilled nursing facility, I will go there. I like the staff, the food, the activity director, and the social worker. I couldn't say enough good things about them. You couldn't smell anything except fresh air and it's wonderful. The physical therapists were great and they did the therapies right there. The facility was so well-kept and clean. Everything, even the courtyards and the flowerbeds, was good. I was so impressed. The food was also fabulous, it was really good. The dietician in the cafeteria was good, too. It had the best hospital food I've ever seen. There was a huge breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausages, biscuits, gravy, and oatmeal. Every day there's juice, milk, and coffee. Lunches were great, too and you could order off the menu. It was good and I didn't want to leave. It's also less expensive than most of the others around this area."

"We visited a family member at Tuscany Village Nursing Center. It was nice. The people were pleasant. Her room seemed pretty clean, and they would come in if they had to do whatever they had to do and talk with her when they would come in. They sometimes bring her meals. The staff was pretty nice. The facility was a fairly new place. It looked nice and clean."

"Gayla Treadway Review I am the Resident Council President for South Pointe Rehab and Care Center. I have been president for a year and obtained this position by being voted in by the other residents of South Pointe. What we do in resident council is bring up problems and find solutions. An example of one of the things the Resident Council did is request vending machines for the residents. We stated our case on how many people would use them and they were put in place. It has made a significant difference in maintaining our independence. We also have a cheering section in resident council. We cheer for all the good things happening at South Pointe. As President, I lead with the philosophy that everyone needs and thrives on encouragement. I have lived at South Pointe for 6 years. I owe my life to South Pointe. When I first got there, I was dying. I have COPD and my doctor had given me two weeks to live. I knew I needed to find a nursing home because I could no longer care for myself. Because I had been so sick, I was struggling under a mound of medical bills which had drained me financially. No other places would take me because of that, however, South Pointe Rehab and Care Center found a way to make it work. By coming to South Pointe, I was able to get the medical help I needed and my health began to improve. I didn’t die, I started living again. I made a lot of friends at South Pointe. I started a coloring club. At this club we have projects and art contests. Having this creative outlet for me is a soul saver. I still deal with a lot of pain and coloring helps relieve that pain. Coloring takes me out of the pain and into concentrating on creating art. I believe life starts with having a little gratitude everyday. I enjoy the activities at South Pointe. I especially love the gospel music. South Pointe also gives us the freedom to worship how ever we want to. Our visitors are always welcome and the staff is friendly to them. I believe when God closes a door he leaves a window open. Thank you South Pointe for opening your windows and doors to me. Gayla Treadway "
