"Elison Independent Living of Statesman Club was very nice. The staff was great. The apartments were all right. They weren't as large as I had hoped, but they were okay. The facility was well kept up. The dining area was nice. They have all kinds of activities. The reason I rule them out is because I have a dog, and there is a fee to bring a dog in. I realized that their fee was higher than the other places."

"We visited Acclaim Living. I like the personnel. We were greeted when we first got there. My husband said, "Oh, look at this." There was a picture frame with my name on it, and it said, "Welcome. Could you come and take a visit?" It was very personalized. We even arrived early, and she accommodated us because we were almost 30 minutes early. The coordinator, Donna, was the one giving us the information about the facility. I liked her. She's very accommodating. She's a very personable person. They had a lot of outdoor spaces you could go to. I don't smoke, but they accommodate smokers. They are pet-friendly. They have a lot of space where your dogs can go out and tour the grass, and have fun outside. We drove around it, and there was lots of space for her and the other pets, if they had any, that would be guarded against being hurt. It's all fenced in, so you wouldn't have to worry about that, and that was a big plus for me."

"Silver Elm Estates was the last one I visited. It's close to my daughter and grandkids. The kids could walk to and from their house, and I was impressed with that. I like the location. I like the apartments. The prices were even a lot better than some of the others. Their dining room was nice. The staff was excellent. I like everything about it. Everyone I met was nice. And their facility was nice, too. If you didn't have a unit outside, their inside units were all attached. You could walk in through the hall, but they all had a back door that led to a courtyard, and that was nice. I like that."

"The Village on the Park - Oklahoma City was very nice. From walking in the front door to walking out when we left, everything was wonderful. The people were wonderful. The two ladies who showed us around were wonderful in answering every question we had. The place was decorated to the nines for Christmas, not just in the lobby, but throughout the whole place. All of the people that we met, from the servers in the dining room to the people who take care of the maintenance, were very helpful in answering all our questions. The food was fine. It wasn't fine dining, but it was fine. The rooms that we looked at were adequate. We like their two-bedroom cottage very, very much. The Village on the Park would be one that will be on the top of our list."

"Grace Pointe is an awesome place, but I might need more of an assisted living type thing. For people who are healthy and can get around, it was a wonderful place. They didn't have food. They have a brunch- type thing in the mornings. The rest of it is kind of up to you and they have potlucks there. It's clean and nice. The rooms were nice. I didn't pick up any kind of smell, and they were big and kind of roomy for what you were getting. They furnished the cable and the wi-fi and I think the electric stuff was all paid. The woman who assisted us had a golf cart and told us we could ride on that with her. She was personable and pretty much explained everything. I did get a call from them, though, after I saw them, and they told me that they didn't do assisted living in any shape or form. They have storm shelters, and it's a locked community and it's just apartments with people over 55. For what they are, they're pretty nice."

"Condo was very clean, floor plan was well thought out, nice size rooms. No food. LaDonna, the person showing the condo was very courteous, helpful, and seemed to be very knowledgeable about the property. She was able to answer all our questions and made us feel very comfortable."

"I toured Silver Elm Estates Norman. They were like an apartment complex. You had a lease. They had a 12-month lease that you signed. In almost every other place I went, you pay month-to-month. They had the largest square footage of the apartments, the one-bedroom, one bath, and they were the least expensive. They're in more of a residential area, not too far from the I-35 that goes up and down the main highway. They had a full-size kitchen with its own washer and dryer. All utilities were paid, three meals a day, local telephone service, basic cable, housekeeping, track hall, and the regular stuff you see. The person who took me around was nice. I had not made an appointment. I just walked in and she said, "Well, let's go take a look then." I thought that was very nice of them. I like their place. I like the trails better. It was a clean place, and I liked it."

"It is a time when your children are grown and the loss of a spouse puts your future in a whirlwind. It is a time when you wonder what you will do, where will you go, and where will you live. Will it be somewhere that will help you make the most of the future years that are troubling you now? Enter, Spanish Cove. I have lived here for five years now, and I can tell you without any trouble at all that it is the best decision my children ever made for me.I took the tour and the beautiful swimming pool was my favorite thing. My apartment is right by it. It is heated and enclosed in glass. The sparkling beauty of it only partly upstages the gorgeous plants and flowers inside that flourish all year round. In the summer, the glass doors on the ceiling roll back and the beauty of a summer day engulfs its beauty. It is my Garden of Eden. But that isn't all. There are state-of-the-art exercise rooms, exercise equipment, a sewing room, a library, rooms for exercise workouts, billiard tables, coffee lounging areas, and CD library with all movies to check out. There are art classes for the creative mind, and on and on. The beautiful Central Park for chatting in front of the fire pit with its beautiful fountains just sparkles in the day and into the night.. The campus is just spectacular with all the beauty of flowers and hedges, and statues. But even more compelling is the staff and residents. The staff spends hours planning and putting into place marvelous trips for our entertainment and sometimes for our learning current events so that our minds stay sharp and aware. We travel in a gorgeous brand new coach with all the extras that make travel fun. And the people are the dearest on Earth. They absorb your sorrows as well as your joys and they help make the journey into the last season of your heart, better than all the other seasons put together. Getting to decorate your new apartment is the most fun.....I even got to bring my two cats and decorate the apartment with cat trees, etc. any way I chose. Some say my apartment looks like a little girl ten years old lives there; that's okay....I will always be ten so they are nice to me and just accept it. I have made some of the dearest friends I have ever had while living here. I wish I could explain adequately how the staff just unbelievably goes the second--and third mile--for US. If you are looking, look no further. This is THE place to be. Needless to say I love it here......... YOU will, too. "

"Several years ago we found a place called Savannah House of Yukon, and more recently we were just looking around to see what else was available. It’s a nice place and we have been here for two years. The place is convenient for shopping and travel. The people were very nice, all over 65 or 62, everyone mostly is retired. The surroundings were residential, the apartment is very nice -- two bedrooms and two baths. The people seemed to be very nice, there are some activities, but there is no activity director. "

"We went to look at Belmont Cove. They've got an open house. They're cottages, and we like that. But it's about 50 miles, and that's a bit further than where we want to go. It's a very nice facility. The houses are all connected. They only have one garage there. They're all two bedrooms. It's a new facility. If it were closer, we would go here. It's a very large, spread-out facility, and they're expanding all the time. It's the most pet-friendly of the facilities we went to. There's a small backyard with a porch, and behind it, there's a dog run that's probably a couple hundred yards. Their houses are not furnished. They have granite countertops. There are two bedrooms and one bath. For a two-bedroom unit, it's a pretty good size. It's a rental house, but the whole complex is designed for seniors. They're in the process of building a pool for the complex. There's a community center associated with it."

"We have a facility for my mother called Southern Plaza Retirement and the deposit has been put down in the independent care unit. They're getting a unit ready for occupancy this coming June. The facility was well kept and well organized. The staff was very knowledgeable and very caring. If one needed an additional level of care like assisted living or memory care, they had all three services. It was located in the Town of Bethany, which is a small town. It was within a block or two of the church that my mother attends. The pricing was competitive with other similar services and other facilities. It had covered parking and it wasn't far from my mother's sister and it's not far also from where we live here in Norman. Those were the major points. They have one- and two-bedroom units. The one-bedroom unit was satisfactory for her. They provided dining, so they had food preparation and housekeeping and an array of social activities that she could partake in. They have qualified staff if a medical need would arise. It ministered to her natural needs, emotional needs, social needs, and even spiritual needs. They have ministers that come in and minister if she would elect to attend. They are a top-notch quality facility. Considering the amenities, the quality of construction, and the condition of that, they do a top job. The complex spans a block. It just depends upon which entrance you take to come into the facility. It's also run by the Nazarene College, so the people that are managing it have a spiritual orientation. They understand that a person isn't just a warm body roaming the halls. They have a heart and they have an inner person which also needs ministry. They have that dimension because they're ministry-oriented. It's not just commercially oriented. They're not just trying to make a profit, although they have to make a profit. They have memory, assisted and independent, and they have different administrators for each level. We not only took a tour with Lisa in the independent living, but we took a tour also with Debbie in the assisted living because at that time, it appeared that mom might be moving in with her husband."

"My husband and I moved to Baptist Village because it was near our daughter. We had a one bedroom apartment. We had lunch and breakfast on Friday mornings. The food they served was all good. There were a lot of activities like dominoes, rubic's cube, sponsoring church every month, sushi night, bell choir and many more. I liked the price and I would recommend this place to others. "

"I chose Superbia Retirement Village because I needed a place to be, and I had to be out of my other place. It's very nice. I like it a lot. Right now, my room is small because I'm in just a small efficiency, but it's very nice. My family went in and redid and re-cleaned everything. The staff is very knowledgeable. They have a library, video type thing, two laundromats, solariums, a hair salon, and a nail salon. There are long halls, and you get a lot of walking inside or outside. There are cottages and other places inside as well."

"My sister moved in to independent living 4-5 years ago, recently had to leave due to her health and condition beyond independent living. St. Ann's staff and facility was a gift from God for our family. Staff, facility and food was outstanding for us. Staff were part of sister's family and made our situation very sad as we had to leave. Thanks for all the years of great life for my sister."

"We went to Hefner Mansions. Sarita is amazing. She is the marketing director or whatever you want to call it. I love the facility regarding its cleanliness and the modernness of it. We've had lunch with them twice now. Their side menu is like everyday food and stuff like that. I had a cheeseburger with them, and it was delicious. The whole family went as far as my son, my daughter, and the children, so everybody went, and it was cool because they were very welcoming to everybody. They thought the kids were adorable. All the residents and the staff were very accommodating. They didn't seem like they were being bothered by us or anything like that. We ate in the dining room with everybody, and it was personable and very nice. Their walls are nice, white, and clean. They have an herb garden and a little wagon in their hallway. Their halls are lit up very nicely. They're wide enough for several people to be able to walk down there. My mom can't walk long distances, and she has to rest in between, and she was able to do so. They had various chairs around. The thing that Mom probably didn't like about it is that it's a single level. The dining room is in phase one. Phase two has been done, remodeled, and everything. However, because it's single level, they are split into rings, so there can be some long walking and stuff like that to get to the dining room. The thing that I liked about this place is that, unlike all the other facilities that I've been to, my mom has a separate entrance that she can go in. She doesn't have to check in with them. They can knock on her personal apartment door. She's got a porch that she's able to have her porch furniture out on and stuff like that. It's very nice, and it's very homey. It's privately owned, so we don't have to deal with corporations that are promising us when they're doing their sales talk and stuff like that. There are 99 apartments there, and they are 100% filled right now. That's how good they are. "

"Whispering Creek is open and has lots of room. I like the neighbors, it's quiet, and they have a nice area to walk or run around. You can go out to dinner with a group and play cards and games like croquet. The staff is extremely helpful. I've only had a few work orders, and they handle them the next day. They had a Veterans dinner and a Memorial Day dinner, which were both very nice. I'm very pleased with where I'm at."

"My brother moved into The Bradford. The place is really nice and very clean. They have either a 1-bedroom apartment or a 2-bedroom house with a garage. You have your own apartment, so you make your own food. They are all friendly and everybody wants to get out and meet all the other neighbors. It's just a really nice community. They have a clubhouse and they have different activities there. They just remodeled their clubhouse and it is very elaborate and very clean. On Sundays, they have a Bible study. And then on Mondays, they have a community dinner where everybody brings a dish. They also have game days."

"I am a resident of Paseo Avenues. You can eat here or cook your own meals, but there's no extra charge. The food is excellent. Other than that, I'm used to getting sandwiches every day. The rooms are very spacious. You have a huge walk-in closet. The bathroom is so big that you can get lost in it. I share a room with two other females. The staff is very friendly, very knowledgeable, and very experienced in what they do. They are very caring people. There is a playground on the side for families that come to visit with their children, and on certain days of the week, there are meetings on what to do, and what not to do. They do board games, exercises, video games, and stuff like that. It's very affordable."
