It is a time when your children are grown and the loss of a spouse puts your future in a whirlwind. It is a time when you wonder what you will do, where will you go, and where will you live. Will it be somewhere that will help you make the most of the future years that are troubling you now? Enter, Spanish Cove. I have lived here for five years now, and I can tell you without any trouble at all that it is the best decision my children ever made for me.I took the tour and the beautiful swimming pool was my favorite thing. My apartment is right by it. It is heated and enclosed in glass. The sparkling beauty of it only partly upstages the gorgeous plants and flowers inside that flourish all year round. In the summer, the glass doors on the ceiling roll back and the beauty of a summer day engulfs its beauty. It is my Garden of Eden. But that isn't all. There are state-of-the-art exercise rooms, exercise equipment, a sewing room, a library, rooms for exercise workouts, billiard tables, coffee lounging areas, and CD library with all movies to check out. There are art classes for the creative mind, and on and on. The beautiful Central Park for chatting in front of the fire pit with its beautiful fountains just sparkles in the day and into the night.. The campus is just spectacular with all the beauty of flowers and hedges, and statues. But even more compelling is the staff and residents. The staff spends hours planning and putting into place marvelous trips for our entertainment and sometimes for our learning current events so that our minds stay sharp and aware. We travel in a gorgeous brand new coach with all the extras that make travel fun. And the people are the dearest on Earth. They absorb your sorrows as well as your joys and they help make the journey into the last season of your heart, better than all the other seasons put together. Getting to decorate your new apartment is the most fun.....I even got to bring my two cats and decorate the apartment with cat trees, etc. any way I chose. Some say my apartment looks like a little girl ten years old lives there; that's okay....I will always be ten so they are nice to me and just accept it. I have made some of the dearest friends I have ever had while living here. I wish I could explain adequately how the staff just unbelievably goes the second--and third mile--for US. If you are looking, look no further. This is THE place to be. Needless to say I love it here......... YOU will, too.

Spanish Cove Retirement Village was a nice and clean place. What I didn't like is that if you were in one of their outbuildings, you had to go outside to get to the pool and to get to the eating place. I didn't care for that because you didn't have the option of being able to live in the same area where everything was all under one roof. So I ruled that out. The food and the help were all very nice. Everybody was very nice. I just didn't like that you had to leave your building to go to another building. All the amenities were available, but you had to go outside to get to the amenities. They were in a separate building. The cottages were fine. They were spacious and clean. It's a nice facility. They have a nice enclosed heated pool, but there was no way you could get to it without going outside. The food was good though.

I've been to Spanish Cove Retirement Village, it's here in Yukon, and it's an excellent facility. I go there often to join their activities. It's usually in their independent living side. The people there have great attitudes and they're caring. The dining is excellent and they keep things up and they have their own maintenance crew. They have everything like a heated salt-water pool, a library, and activities.

We looked at Spanish Cove Retirement Village. We were considering it, but I don't think it's for us. One thing we have to get used to would be the cramped spaces. It would be quite a transition. It would just take some getting used to, and that's not a complaint, it's just an observation. The apartments alone like maybe 700 to 800 square feet. They were friendly, nice, and cooperative. The tour was good. The staff was very friendly. Her knowledge of the product, how it worked, and logistics of it were well explained to us. She did a nice job there. They have it all. They have a pool, a small library, a gathering place, and entertainment at times. They have an indoor pool, so you can do it year-round.

Spanish Cove Retirement Community had some improvements going on all the time there. They have a lot of the same things as others, but it's a little different setup because you're buying in. They said it's not a buy-in, but it is, kind of. The staff gave us a presentation that was very complete, as far as what the facility offers and how the costs go. That was exceptional, it was. I have acquaintances living there now. I've been told about the food, and I haven't eaten out there yet but I've been invited. They have exercise classes, a pool, and other things like trips out of town and out of the country. While we were there, they were repairing some things. We've had some bad weather this last winter and they were right on it. And that's kind of a difficult thing right now, but they have a crew that comes and works with them to keep things up. They have the capability of taking care of their repairs pretty quickly.

Spanish Cove was a pretty nice community. They have assisted, independent, and nursing facilities. You get your own 1-bedroom apartment in independent living and assisted living, which is pretty spacious. Most of the rooms in the nursing home had two beds in each room, but there's still plenty of room for a person to live in there with a roommate. They had really good food and there were a lot of activities like puzzles, exercises, and a library.

I liked Spanish Cove, but I don’t believe I am ready to move in there yet. They let you remodel the apartment, and they even have some cottages that you can also remodel. They give you the budget, and if you want something that would not fit in that budget, you had to pay for it yourself. The cottages were really small houses that were right across the street from Spanish Cove. Those are really pretty much like living in a house except that you have your food in the dining room, and you had access to all the activities and the amenities. They have an unusual program where you buy in -- like right now they are having a special for $89,000. That is your buy-in, then your rent is about $2,500 a month -- which is really good -- and if you move into the assisted living it goes up to about $3,000. The buy-in helps keep your costs down over the long-term. I think $3,400 is the most you would ever have to pay a month.

My parents have already decided to stay at Spanish Cove. They have tailored things to my parents' liking, and, as far as I know, their food is fine because I have eaten there. I don't know much about the staff except for their marketing person because they are in independent living. They seemed very concerned about their clientele. I just like that it is very down-to-earth, and they have friends there.

My wife and I have lived at the Cove for five years. We made the right choice. We have wonderful, caring, and involved staff. Many activities, great food, and a very friendly and informal atmosphere. The goal is to keep residents healthy and living independently as long as possible. The monthly fee in independent living is larger than some other places because part of the fee is a tax deductible prepaid medical expense. So when you go into assisted living or nursing home, your monthly fee hardly increases. Spanish Cove is a nonprofit trust of the city of Yukon, so no outside corporation is making a profit off of us. Three of the trustees are residents here. So it will continue to be user friendly. Oh yes, I have visited the nursing home many times. I have never smelled URINE.

While the facility it self is rather beautiful the administration staff is under qualified and rarely around to handle any issues. Most of the floor staff was rather pleasant however most of the nurses are inexperienced and it definitely shows especially when you voice concerns about your loved ones. The residents spend most of the day in their rooms alone, there are a few activities during the day one of which is walking up and down the hall (fun right?) The food wasn't ideal and the housekeeping is almost non-existant soiled sheets of my incontinent family member were left on the bed for several days, the toilets are stained with urine and your feet will stick to the hard wood floors in the dining rooms in the Long term care units. getting any sort of medication changes or proper care was nill and I removed my loved one from this facility

I'm an independent living resident of Spanish Cove, and have been for 13 years. I have had relatives and friends in both the assisted living and the nursing parts of the facility, and have seen nothing but excellent care there. It's not always perfect, but it is better than any other facility I have had experience with. For life-care residents, the assisted living (AL) and nursing care (NC) areas are provided when needed at no extra cost other than extra meals and the like. Both AL and NC are available for persons who have not been residents, provided there is space available. There is a charge for those persons, and it is consistent with prevailing costs of similar facilities. Activities and entertainment are provided, and religious services are held on Sunday.

My mother is in Spanish Cove, and she is the first person in the skilled nursing. They have it for people who are part of their three level of service, and they just opened it for skilled nursing. The care is excellent; that is why we choose it. It is probably the best care we can ask for, but one thing in private pay, it is expensive. Spanish Cove has more upscale residents. So, you will see people there who have more money than normal. It is not a Medicaid facility.

I would love to move in to Spanish Cove. I liked the people. I liked the services that they provided. I liked the coverage of the monthly fee. They covered everything except internet, and internet was available for $20 a month. I would recommend it to others.

I have a friend who lives in Spanish Cove, and I have been there a lot. It is kind of a bedroom community. It is a life care facility, and it is very nice. I tasted the food and it is excellent. However, it is very expensive.

For most people Spanish Cove is a wonderful place, since I was not yet ready to live in a facility. I have gone there and to played bridge, and I liked that they called me many times when they need a player. I liked the beautician there as well as the library and a lot of other things. I thought the staff like the nurses were nice. However, the housekeepers do not do a good job at all. They do not clean the carpet and they were in and out in 10-15 minutes. I did not like the dining room and the meals too.

I moved out of Spanish Cove after two years. It was so bad that I left my whole upfront payment behind. The location was fine and the staff was accommodating. The food was not too great and they couldn't get a cook who knew how to cook. The accommodation was okay, but it was old-fashioned. They didn't have washer and dryer, there was no tornado shelter, and the elevators were so old that they couldn't pass the state's safety inspection.

My parents moved in recently to Spanish Cove Housing Authority. My husband had aunts and uncle there and I had several relatives that lived in this facility, and they were all very pleased. But we didn't realize that we could get my parents in because it is marketed as long-term care facility where you buy-in upfront. I called and they happen to have an opening.

We have been independent residents of Spanish Cove, Yukon, OK for almost four years. Yukon is in the Oklahoma City metro area, and is a wonderful community in it's own way, but the closeness to Oklahoma City provides additional opportunities for entertainment, shopping, athletic and medical needs. The Cove, as it is called, is wonderful. We have met many new friends, there are more opportunities for events here than you would have time to do, wonderful staff that are so ready to help in any way, short and long trips on a first class coach, regular weekly shopping trips in Yukon and I could go on and on. The assisted living and nursing facility are far above average! I can only urge you to come and check us out before you make a decision for retirement living anywhere else.
