My mom is in here in Bethany. She's in their memory care unit, and the community has been pretty good so far. They've really taken good care of my mom. She's kind of in between memory care and needing assistance, and at first it took her a little while to adjust to it. The living area that they have is not shared by anyone. She has her own room, bathroom, and a small kitchen area. She's even able to lock her door, although the community workers have a key because they have to check on her. The facility provides housekeeping, three meals a day, and snacks, as well as offers activities. There are outside areas where she has access to go out, and they're all secured. The entire facility is secured. You have to have codes to get out of the entire building. The only issues I've had with them is communication and getting a hold of them when I need them. I guess it's really busy, because sometimes when I call there have been difficulties with them getting back to me. I have to kind of stay on top of that. Other than that, they've really taken care of her. Her room is very nice. It's very large and spacious, and very clean. She has her own maintenance where if something goes on, they come and take care of it. There's a laundry area there too, although they actually do her laundry for her if she wants them to. They come by, and if she has laundry and she doesn't feel like doing it, they do it for her, and that's been pretty good. They have a church there too, so she can attend a church group, which has been very nice for her. She likes doing that. She's able to have food in her room, and I'm guessing they based that depending on the person. There are different types of needs in the building itself, so certain people get certain treatment. It just depends on their memory issues. She hasn't participated in very many activities. She goes to the dining area, and she does go to the outside area, but I don't think she has participated very much. She's still adapting to her room, so she stays in there a lot. The place is pretty much the cheapest. The only thing is that she's on self-pay right now, and the memory care side does not accept any kind of state insurance. That's the only downfall with it. She won't be able to afford to be in that particular unit after her savings money is downplayed. According to them, they'll have a counselor assigned to her, and she may have to find a facility that accepts the state insurance or Medicare Advantage. The difference will be that when you get into a state insurance facility, you have to share a room with someone.

We toured. It was very clean. The memory care part was very open, and there was a lot of space for people to meet and converse, which I did not find in other places. The rooms were very good size. The lady who took me around was very, very nice. They did a lot of things with their residents, and they had a lot of rooms where they could all meet, like watch TV, and they took them on excursions. I just liked it. I was very impressed with it. They have single rooms and shared rooms.
