The Best Communities in Tulsa County, OK

"My experience at Silver Arrow Estates has been really good. The staff is wonderful and excellent. The rooms are great and they provide you anything you need. The meals are all really good and they have a chef. Out back, they have horseshoes, croquet, picnic areas, and indoors they have bridge clubs, Bingo, beanbag baseball which everybody loves, and they have a competition for that with one of the other senior homes in town. They also have different people coming in at different times for different things. They take you out twice a week on a big van to the aquarium or to the park. They'll take you to the doctor, Walmart, or to the bank. Everybody here loves this place."

"I toured the 5400 South Apartments in Tulsa, and it was fine. I like the place very much. The community center was not open, so I did not see that. It is a very nice place and very well maintained. The staff were very friendly. The one who accompanied me was very helpful."

"Wow. We are so appreciative of how the amazing Scandia staff is so actively involved in the Life, Health and Wellness of it's residence. We love the Seniors and their zest for life. The staff pampers them with cruise ship like services and we love enhancing the lives of seniors with reflexology massages. It's retirement done right."

"Woodland Manor Apartment Homes is a 55+. It was not quite what I was looking for, but it was nice. They only showed us one apartment, and it wouldn't accommodate some of my things. It's just right in town and in a commercial area. The staff was pleasant and helpful. They don't have meals. It's just apartments."

"I visited Montereau. They had very good food, and the dining area was restaurant-style. The building was fairly new and seemed well constructed. The atmosphere was excellent. It's located on a fairly large campus with some houses where people lived. The staff put in a lot of work on me. They had a full schedule of activities and had everything there, but it’s a very expensive place. "

"This is a very nice facility with good food, large apartments, friendly residents and staff. I would recommend it to anyone. , "

"My mom was at The Villages at Southern Hills. The food was better there. The upkeep of the facilities was a little better, too. However, I didn't feel like she got better care. They were professional, but they didn't particularly establish any relationships. Where she is now, they treat her like she's part of the family. They are like caring for a family member, and there's a difference there. The therapies my mom received were excellent. The room was nice. It was a nice double-occupancy room. It was a little more difficult for her to come in right from surgery having a roommate, but that's not the room's fault or the facility's fault. She had heart surgery, and her roommate wasn't the quietest person she could be. The roommate liked to have the television on very loud all the time, day and night. My mom did activities there. She's a real people person, so she's seeking that out right away. There was a Bible study. Food was exceptional. The staff members were professional and nice, but it wasn't as warm and personable. For many of them, it was a job. The facility itself was clean. The furniture was newer and well-maintained. We were very happy with them, and I would have been very happy to have my mom stay there when she needed long-term care, but they did not have any Medicare beds. I have a very close friend that was in and out of The Villages at Southern Hills three times in the last three years and had a very positive experience every time. In fact, that's part of why we asked to go there after my mother had heart surgery. "

"Senior Star at Woodland Terrace was very nice and everybody was very friendly. There were lots of residents out in about, and a lot of people out having breakfast together. That's probably the place that we choose. The staff was super helpful. They had a lot of activities going on while we were there. They do trips out for lunch and shopping trips a couple of times a week, they have entertainment several times a week, art classes, and bingo. It was very kept up and very nice, all the areas that we've seen were very nice."

"Someone told me about the Park Village Retirement Community, so I looked it up and went there. I visited on a Saturday and it didn't seem like they had so much activity on their agenda. There wasn't much friendliness or camaraderie. They should have more activities planned, so residents could intermingle with each other. One woman was home and she let me look into her apartment. It was very small and more like a studio because you had to walk through the bedroom to get into the bathroom. I'd have to sell my refrigerator and dryer, which means I'd have to spend money every week on doing my laundry. And I'd have to give up so much if I were to move in there. The good thing about it though is that I don't have to worry about my house or cutting the grass and stuff like that. "

"I was at Cedarhurst. It used to be Tapestry. It was wonderful. The staff was excellent. It was a beautiful community. It was well laid-out. There were lots of amenities."

"We toured Zarrow Pointe. They had a little fee upfront, but it was manageable. They had a health center there, right there on the facility. They also had apartments and small homes that we did not look at. The apartments were too small for me. I think the largest one was eleven hundred square feet, which is nice, but I just had too much I don't wanna get rid of. Right, connected to them was a swimming pool or recreation type thing, and the fee wasn't very much. When you look at it, you think it belongs to them because it's right, almost connected to them, and that was a nice thing. They were one of those places that wanted to give you a monthly food allowance. I think everyone could improve on that. I mean, I don't want an allowance, I want you to prepare me three meals a day, and cookies for the afternoon. We didn't have much interaction with the staff folks really and truly well, there didn't seem to be that much interaction that day, and I think the problem was that they were all full up. You had to get on a waiting list for about three years."

"My father moved into Forest Hills Assisted & Independent Living. We chose it because they had an independent living area available. Once we toured it, I liked the facility and the people. It felt alive. The staff members have been very helpful. My dad loves the food. He says it's great food. They have bingo, movie nights, and weekly trips to Walmart. They have a hair and nail salon, which is a plus. The only thing I do not like is that my dad is in independent living, but he has a walker, and he has to go outside on a pretty good track on the road to get to the other area to eat. If it's raining, he still has to go outside with his walker and into the other building, and it's a good 20 or 30 yards. They have a few outdoor areas where they can go outside. They have a pool table and a shuffleboard. They have live music sporadically throughout the week. They have a couple of pieces of workout equipment."

"I chose Pythian Manor West because of the apartment size, location and price. The apartments were large and they offered amenities which I liked. It was an old facility but very well-maintained. The staff were very helpful. But I did not notice that they did not have a dishwasher in the apartment. It would be better if they provided one. Nonetheless, I would still recommend the facility to other seniors. "
