I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend was in Accordius Health at Greensboro for rehab. I would not put a dog in that place. Some of the people like the administrators and some of the nurses were very nice. Some of the people there, you could tell they were there for a paycheck. It's an old facility. The sink was almost pulled off the wall in my friend's room. She had physical therapy, but they only had one physical therapist there for all of these people. They did have some occupational therapists. My friend ran into a problem with one of the physical therapists, and he was only twenty eight. She's 82. There was a big age difference there. He did not give respect to older women that she thought they deserved. I hate to even say this because I really did like some of the people I met and talked to, but that place has a long way to go before I would ever put somebody else back in there.

I would never put a loved one or friend in this nursing home. The smell is terrible, even the bedrooms. The staff is not as caring as they should be. You will have to go to a nurse desk to ask for help. The staff and doctors are disrespectful! The staff/nurses don't check in on the patients as often as they should, they expect the patients to feed themselves while sitting in their soggy diapers. I went to visit this nursering home to put my loved one in, and i didnt recieve great service. Also i saw a patient sitting outside when you walk in smoking with a nurse sitting inside not caring. Thats not great service they should treat the patients like their parents or grandparents, because this is the job they signed up for so they should do it properliy.

Thank you and your staff for all you have done. You all are the only ones who did what you said you would do and provided wonderful care for my mom. I think the reason we were sent to you is so I could see that there really are people in health care who really care about and take pride in the care that they give. I was so impressed by what I saw. I really wish you all were closer to my home. You all were magnificent!! If she doesn’t get care where she is at now that is as good as what you all gave her. I may be back. You all really set a high standard in what to expect with the care in facilities like yours. Thank you again,

This facility was willing to take a chance on my loved one when all other facilities said No! I appreciate the staff working with us and helping us any way they could!

My father enter late August 2016. At first, the staff talked to us, but after a while they would see us comming and then disappear. I felt that no one wanted to answer our questions on how our father did that day. This went on for a few weeks, and we were told that he was going to receive palliative care which he never did. My dad passed away September 13,probably right after I visited and left at about 4:35pm. I was not called until about 8:30 or 9pm. Which makes me believe that no one checked on him until around 7 or 7:30pm which is dinner time. This really breaks my heart. We chose this place hoping that they would be there for him and take. Now, I'm not so sure that we made the right decision. I just want to say that, regardless of whether a person has 6 months or 6years to live, they still deserve to be treated like a human. Our dad was and still is very precious to us, and we put our trust in you all to take care of him. I now know that it was the wrong decision. Going forward, please care for the residents there as you would your own parents or grandparents. Also please respect their families, because it is very hard to watch your loved one endure these issues.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I visited a very dear and close friend of mine everyday or everyday for about 2 months at this nursing home. Everyday I walked in I was greeted by more than 1 person and eventually they learned my name by heart and knew who I was coming to see and it made me feel good in the inside. I remember one week I skipped 3 days from coming and when I did show up everyone was concerned. I felt more like a patient there than my friend. Every time I visited it always someone coming by or in the room checking on my friend. I have seen and visited many nursing homes but this one was a different feeling. It was more friendly and the staff seem to be concerned about my friend and me as well. I understand staff, nursing homes, and hospitals get very busy and things happen but I can honestly say if there was a concern the staff at this facility was on top of it. I have nothing bad to say about this facility

What a disappointment

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father was at this facility for antibiotic therapy (for sepsis) for 2 1/2 weeks. His family all lived three states away, and we were assured that we would be kept informed of his progress and notified of any changes. He was improving and all seemed fine when we left him there and drove home to PA and NJ, and the Golden Living staff was calling me (his daughter) about every little thing at first. But by the 2nd week they stopped calling, and when my sister and I got back down there for a visit at the end of that week, we found that his condition had changed considerably, for the worst. Staff member after staff member came into his room while we were there to inform us that he had suffered "a setback" (an understatement, by the way) during the previous few days. But not one of them bothered to pick up the phone and notify us BEFORE we got there. Over the next few days, we witnessed nurses aides taking their sweet time about attending to him, nurses not helping us get access to the nurse practitioner/doctor we were asking to speak with about his clearly worsening condition, and my father yelling in anguish at times. Meanwhile, he had gone into kidney failure, his blood pressure was dropping, he had developed a blood clot in the arm where the pic line was, and he was delirious half the time--and no one was talking about moving him to the hospital until his condition was dire. He almost died in the hospital the night after they finally decided to send him there. We understand that nursing homes are not staffed for conditions as severe as my father's ended up being. But why didn't they send him to the hospital way sooner? Was it about the money they could still get while he was in their facility? My father passed away a month ago (in a hospice that treated him with much more care and respect, thank goodness) because the antibiotics weren't working, and the sepsis took over. And, given his advanced age (95), that would likely have been the outcome anyway. But I will never forgive this facility for making my father and my family suffer the way they did. If you want good care for your loved one, stay away from this place!

The facility is nasty and stinking. The resident's rooms had the most awful smell. It smelled like sewage. The residents are not getting taken care of like they should. I wouldn't dare put my family member in this place. They are always short of help. The residents are not being changed like they should. They expect residents to eat while they have BM or a soaked diaper. And the doctors are very rude. They should be a shame of themselves. I would never enter into this place again.

THE WORSE PLACE I HAVE EVER SEEN. THERE IS ANIMALS IN THE SHELTER THAT GETS BETTER CARE.MY HUSBAND WAS THERE FOR 3 MONTHS. IF A FAMILY MEMBER HAD NOT STAYED DURING THE DAY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EVEN WORSE. YOU COULD TURN ON THE BUTTON FOR HELP AND NO ONE CAME. HAD TO GO TO DESK TO EVEN BE ACKNOWLEGED. PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE DID NOT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING YOU NEEDED. NASTY NO ONE TO HELP FEED YOU IF YOU COULD NOT HELP YOURSELF. POOREST EXCUSE FOR A NURSING PLACE IN THE CITY. I TRIED FOR 3 MONTHS TO GET HIM ON MEDICADE TO MOVE HIM BUT IT CAME THROUGH 3 DAYS AFTER HE PASSED AWAY. LIKE I SAID I KNOW DOGS THAT GOT BETTER CARE

This is an older facility but they keep it clean and that's what is important to me. The staff is very helpful especially the admissions person. They provide activities and the director is always so nice and helpful. No complaints of the food either my loved one likes it!

I am a friend or relative of resident

I am so disappointed with the selection that the family decided to provide for my loved one. In that I am from out-of town, every time that I visit, my loved one is not clean and as soon as I arrive, someone comes in and says, "Oh, I was just coming in to change her." Because of her condition she is not encouraged to eat or drink--, the food and water is brought in and when it is time for the staff to pick up the trays-- they do just that. No assistance for patients needing additional help with feeding and just a sip of water. I have seen the staff come in and step on food on the floor. It's around 2 p.m.--don't you think that someone would have cleaned the floors or took a paper towel to pick the food up off the floor. I am embarrassed to give her church the location due to not knowing what to expect upon their arrival. You have to love your job and not the paycheck. I think it's all about filling the beds and not caring for the patients. I see that the rating has gone from a 95 to 96. Wow! Why?

I am giving this facility one star because the roof does not leak. This "rehab and nursing" facility did not even assure that my mother with dementia ate or drank anything. She list over 20 lbs in the 3 weeks there. Stay clear. This is not a good place.

Per his doctor's suggestion, my dad is at Golden Living Center right now. Basically, he's got a bed in a rehab facility where they actually take care of a lot of people who had different conditions. It seems to me like a senior like hospital. The nurses check him out, sometimes, they help him walk. I saw the food, it okay and nutritious and it looks like it has been cook thoroughly. He has three meals a day and they seem to be nice.

I visited this facility

The facility was fairly nice as far as I could tell, but I do not have experience with any other facilities. There was a fairly large commons area were the resident of the facility were able to socialize. This area also hosted entertainment for the residents on occasions. On the whole, the facility appeared to be quite clean and I don't think I noticed anything that was dirty. The rooms themselves seemed to be a little bit small, with a fairly small main room, and a connected bathroom. Nonetheless, the rooms appeared to be well-kept and properly furnished. All of the staff that I recall interacting with were extremely friendly; additionally, they all seemed to treat the residents respectfully and with high regard. I did not get a chance to view the dining facilities there, but I did see a meal that was prepared there. It seemed to me that it might be a little bland in flavor, but it was well balanced in terms of the food groups. Overall, I would say that the facilities were pretty good, and I did not see any sort of major flaws there.

On the outside, the Golden Living Center in Greensboro does not look like much but that changes once you get inside. Whats the old adage? "Looks can be deceiving? Well, in this case it is. It is beautiful inside and this facility carries everything with it. It offers everything that I could think of if I was staying at a weekend resort. The gardens, hairdressing, courtyards, spas....the list goes on. The management and staff were helpful also. They gave me a quick tour as I did not want to take up their time as it was almost lunch and it gets kind of busy there they say. They answered a few questions and I was out the door. If you are looking for a beautiful place to stay or for a family member or friend to stay, you should look here.
