"We have chosen The Arbors Assisted Living at Hauppauge for my grandmother, and our overall experience has been fantastic so far. The community has a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff is very accommodating, and they go above and beyond. Grandma says that the accommodation is good, it's up-to-date, and well kept. They have activities like shuffleboard, games, music, and they go on outings. Based on what my grandma says, I would rate their food a five out of five."

"Atria Huntington is extremely friendly, wonderfully comfortable, very homey, and has wonderful people. It's a wonderful place that's clean, and absolutely nice. The outdoors is lovely too. I think that it's rather simple, but lovely. I had a lovely interview with the lady who showed me around. She was absolutely wonderful. I only met one receptionist and didn't meet anyone else."

"The services they provided at Sunrise Senior Living of Huntington were beyond my wife's needs, but we're very pleased with it. The staff who conducted the tour and talked with us was excellent, very helpful and very cooperative. They do follow-up calls with me. The apartment was clean and well furnished. The dining area was clean and well taken care of. They have activities that you would find in a nursing home like exercise and games."

"My parents moved into The Arbors at Islandia East about 4 months ago and we are so very grateful for the quality care and attention they receive daily. The staff has been absolutely wonderful and have helped them (and all of us!) adjust and feel at home through this transition. I can’t say enough good things about the team at Arbors East! They not only take care of all my parents’ health and wellness needs, but they are all so friendly and kind and spend time really getting to know them and making them comfortable. There is great communication between staff and family members and we always feel that my parents are respected and truly cared about. "My stepmother is currently at Birchwood Suites. I found the staff to be very helpful. The case manager, the people that man the desk at the front of the place, and the nurses, for the most part, I find them to be quite good and helpful. However, my stepmother is not so definite about that, and that's why she wants to move. She has certain complaints. One of the things she wants to do is see her own doctors, which she hasn't been able to do at Birchwood because they don't have transportation for that. But at the other place, she has been promised that she would be able to see her own doctors. I think the apartment is good. It was an estate that was converted into apartments. As far as the upkeep goes, it's pretty good, and maintenance seems to take care of the issues. They've had some trouble with the elevators at times, but that's been corrected. So they attend to things pretty well. My stepmother hasn't participated in a whole lot of activities. She prefers to do her own thing, so to speak. She is not pleased with the food; however, she's very particular, and as a result, she resorted to buying some of her own stuff like raisin bread, for instance, or nuts that she likes to eat. She has not given rave reviews of the food there. She says there's too much pepper on it, and she can't deal with spicy stuff. She has issues with the food, but I can't confirm any of that because I have not tried the food. I haven't had a meal there."

"I liked The Arbors at Bohemia. The rooms were nice. The grounds were beautiful, and they had gardens and fountains. The residents were actively engaged in a musical program that they were having when I was there. The woman who took us around was very interesting. "

"It was very good! When you walk in there, it was different. It didn't seem institutionalized. I think the price ranges for anyone's needs so I think it's doable. It depends on what you really want so you had options. The woman who gave the tour was very informative, very gentle and very open to answering any questions. So I found it a great experience. "We saw Christian Fellowship House, but it turned out not to be a good fit for my mom because most of the rooms do not have bathrooms in the bedroom itself, and it's too much for her to walk down the hallway to use a restroom. It was a lovely, very nice place. The grounds were beautiful, and the staff was friendly. The downside was the layout of the rooms, most of the rooms were double rooms as opposed to single, and the bathrooms were down the hall."

"My mom is a resident of Amber Court of Smithtown. They're very good at communicating. If there's an issue, I get immediate results. Everything's been taken care of. The staff has been wonderful. My mom's now in a shared room. There are a lot of activities for them to do if they want to do them. They have a lovely front area where they can sit and enjoy. There are benches where they can sit outside and enjoy the sun. They do a lot of nice socializing. Everybody gets along. I have heard other people complaining about the food, but I always ask my mom, and she's been very happy with it. It's the same price range as everybody else."
