My son is staying at Columbia Manor Care Center. The location is wonderful because it's less than two miles from where I live. They've been very responsive to some of his medical needs, which has pleased me. At this point, the biggest problem is that the people who are there, on the whole, are considerably older than he is and considerably more limited in what they can do. So, he doesn't have much of a social life because there are so few people who are still sharp enough that they can visit with him and form friendships and so on. I'm hoping in time that will change. It is clean and nicely kept. I remember years ago, reading about evaluating when you visit nursing homes, they said the first thing you should do when you walk in is, notice the smell, the odor; and it is very pleasant. The staff is very helpful, friendly, and responsive to Brian's needs. It's clean and the folks are friendly. It's pretty plain, but I'd much rather have it plain and clean, than fancy and not well-kept.

My grandma is staying at this manor and it is incredible if you need something they are very polite about it. It defitinely is a nursing home I would recommend. It has a nice dining area and in the dining are there is a little couch and TV you can sit and watch that with family/friends! They are very quick with patients needs and understanding if it does take a minute! There is board games for activities! The rooms aren't very spacious because two residents livein the same room but it does have a bathroom in the room for guests and residents. The staff are nice if I haven't mentioned. It has a very comforting amenity it feels like home if you want it to be! I actually became friends with one of the employees but there is one nurse practitioner who is basically lazy she sits on her phone if you ask her for something but she is very kind if you ask politely she'll respond! I recommend having you/your elderly disabled family/relative's/friends to stay there if your near by! I'm from Sedalia, Mo and the drive there is about 45 minutes and back is about 1 hour and 15 minutes! I also recommend bringing the resident your visiting some food there food is not that good is what my family member said!

As a care giver myself, I can attest to the good care at Columbia Manor versus some homes. The patients are treated with respect, kept dry and turned, are fed nutritious food, and the staff was like family. I enjoy the warmness the Manor offers. When we visited last there were fresh flowers in the rooms. There were many volunteers scurrying about. They offer a busy social calendar and often times take the residents on field trips, etc. The nurses consistently shift; however, there seems to remain a quality in care. One negative always results from my visits "“ the layout of the center. The social and eating areas are quite a trek from resident rooms. Often, our friend, who is not wheelchair bond, requires a wheelchair to assess these areas. It at times dampens the mood of the visit. The facility is pleasant overall and I would consider this home for close friends and family.
